Very nice place to rest, relax, and check out used books and DVDs. The day I visited they had a sale for buy one DVD and get the other free, and that cost me a whopping $3.00! The customer service is excellent and the prices can't be beat. Highly recommend. read more

Such a quaint little coffee shop situated right in the heart of Pinehurst's historical village. And who wouldn't love a library attached to your coffee shop?!! It's cute! Everything you would expect from a place sponsored by EOL. We are locals and frequent EOL on the reg! I will say, the manager seems pretty grumpy, and short with the other staff, which isn't the norm for EOL staff, but the coffee is good and the atmosphere is cool. Charming coffee shop in Pinehurst. The building simultaneously houses a used book store. This is a fantastic partnership! Also, this is the old post office building and the restoration makes for a unique and interesting place to study, read or visit with friends. They have a few breakfast and lunch items which are fresh and well done . The pastries are fresh and delicious! I usually get tea- which is delightful as it comes in a tea pot! This is a cute place with lots of character. We had the quiche which was ok, and a pimento grilled cheese that was tiny. The waitress forgot our coffee drink. I think we will keep going to the other coffee shop. read more

I would like to preface this by saying that I am a regular customer at the Roast Office and, most often, I enjoy myself in the peaceful environment. Sadly, I had two bad experiences today. First off, the lady that helped me check out did not give me a receipt, even though I asked for one. Their receipts include a code that goes towards a free drink in their rewards app. They say that they do not give receipts to people who pay cash, which is how I payed, even though they gave my two brunch buddies their receipts, and that is how they payed as well. Second of all, I ordered a frozen lemonade and one of their delicious chocolate chip cookies. I received the lemonade, but never got the cookie. My friend, who had gotten one of the cookies as well, said hers had taken awhile to come out, so I figured they were bringing it out. About ten minutes pass, and I still have not received my cookie. So I decided to go to the counter and see what was taking so long. When I went up there, a different lady who was working told me that they didn't have cookies. I told her that I had payed for one, and she raised her voice at me and gave me a very feisty attitude. She offered me a smaller cranberry and white chocolate cookie, which I took, but did not enjoy. Also, another one of my friends had been advised to get a hot coffee, which she ordered, but received an iced coffee. We were all very disappointed in our visit today, and I hope that conditions will improve. read more

went there for brunch ordered a coffee & the simple egg sandwich & it took 50 minutes to get it. there was only a couple of ppl there. the iced coffee was very watered down and the sandwich was dripping grease. read more

The Roast Office is a cute little coffee shop attached to a post office turned bookstore in Pinehurst, NC. As an avid Caribou Coffee and Starbucks drinker, I don't tread to far from the path when it comes to my morning joe, but I am so happy I came here! The whole store has a very upbeat feel, and due to the fact that it was once a post office, there are massive windows were the light is able to come through, but not so much that it is blinding. The coffee shop doesn't have a million options menu, but it has a big enough selection that anyone could come in and find something they would enjoy. I had the Chai tea. It was AMAZING! I asked what was in it, and all it was was chai powder and fat free milk, so I said "hey, that's kinda healthy right?!" The only reason I am saying it was a 4 and not a 5 was because the delivery on the coffee and scones was slow and the waitress got confused on which drink was mine or my friends. If you want fast, on-the-go coffee, go to Starbucks. If you want to sit, get friendly service, and fresh ingredient drinks and food, make sure to stop at The Roast Office! read more
