The Robin Hood is one of 3 pubs in the village of Swannington, which in these days of mass pub closures is quite an impressive feat for such a small area. In my opinion this is the best out of the three by virtue of its exceptional food.
The pub has a nice balance between a traditional 'homely' village pub and a more modern, town or city centre pub. It has a traditional inetrior, but also has large screen tv's to watch the football, while having the traditional pub staples of a pool table and darts board.
There is a wide selection of beers and spirits and the prices are reasonable, especially if you are flexible with what you drink as they do some cracking offers from time to time (a rarity for a village pub). The pub has a good reputation and is usually quite busy, especially at the weekends, but it never feels to cramped and an extremely relaxed and pleasant atmosphere predominates.
The pub offers exceptional food. If you are in the area and want to know where to eat, this has by far the best food out of the 3 pubs and the only other option - the Chill 'n' Spice restraunt is only open in the evenings. The Robin Hood does a fantastic sunday roast, with a good range of alternatives, as well as a nice selection of starter and desert options. Prices are not cheap, but the quality is more than worth it. read more
