Attention to all of my friends:…read more Beware of Dupras and Sons Inc. Recently we had a new furnace installed. They quoted $3500 which included labor, materials, and furnace. Let me just say this should be criminal. Searching HVACDirect.com, we found the furnace for $1345. This is a retail price which we all know Dupras and Sons Inc doesn't pay retail prices. There quote included 8 hours for 2 guys for $1400. Normal rates for 2 installers should have been $1200 for 8 hours. The technicians were at our house for 5.5 hours. Add 1 hour for travel to and from our house for a grand total of 6.5 hours. Dupras and Son Inc, overcharged us for labor. They charged almost a 50 percent mark up on the furnace. We paid $3100. Sent them a letter asking for an itemized bill and they threatened me they would send me to collections if I didn't pay the remaining balance. I am telling you, these types businesses are operating under some shady practices. How in the hell does a vague estimate without true costs become good business practices. In speaking to others, this is pretty common. I for one am not taking this lying down. I am not going to pay a business that takes advantage of a consumer without heat and asking them to pay an unreasonable amount for a product and labor that does not add up. It is extortion!!! They charged me for 3 hr labor ($80/hr) , including travel time. He was here about 30 minutes. Owner and crew were straight to the point and professional. They let me know when they would be back for multi-day work and cleaned up after themselves. They also worked with our plumbing company when a delay occurred to get a water line run. Price for work was fair and as quoted. We also used them for snow removal, which required a blower due to the limited space for snow. Work was done well and in a timely manner. I plan to use them again and am happy to recommend them. A convenient service plan was offered.

I have been left wishing I had done the work myself because not only would I have spent far less, but there's no way even a casual weekend warrior like myself would produce such shoddy results with seeding. Our yard is patchy, weedy, and in some places just plain dry dirt. I contacted the owner and he admitted they "dropped the ball" and initially said they'd come to fertilize and drop some more seed but that never happened and he hasn't made any plans of how to fix this since then- and he has had nearly a year to at least let us know his plan. I last e-mailed him almost 6 months ago with no reply. I prefer e-mail to calls because if he tells me a plan for fixing the yard I want it in writing. So as of the writing of this review I spent a LOT of money with these guys just to have a yard that looks flat out embarrassing. And this is not me being a perfectionist or something like that: random neighbors have even asked me, "what is wrong with your yard?" Or have told me, "this looked nicer before you had work done." At this point I am considering fixing it myself, but then I'm out the time and money that I was trying to save myself by paying Fuller's in the first place. Unless they make this right all I can say is this: go somewhere else or do the work yourself. Very disappointed. EDIT #1: I have talked with the owner on the phone and he is putting together a plan to make this right that will involve additional seeding among other things to try and get things going. I also wanted to add that some of the other landscaping work they did in addition to the grass/lawn was actually quite good. They did some edging and rock work around the house that we were happy with. However, until the yard is less patchy, weedy, and barren I stand by my initial one-star review. I think the picture shows why I feel that way. With some consideration I have decided to bump it up to a two-star review though since the owner has said he'll work with me on this. I want to make sure to reflect my happiness with their other work and my hope for resolving this issue in the near future. I will edit the review further once I know what his plan actually is and see the work done to fix this. EDIT #2: The owner and a crew came to our house shortly after this review was posted and did some work on our yard to get things growing in better. I am happy that they were able to do this ASAP, so I'm raising the review another star. I will come back in a month or so to edit the review again once I see how my yard ends up looking. If everything is good I plan on removing the picture, replacing it with a new one, and doing a new review that reflects the whole situation better now that it's being addressed.

Cameron presented a few options and gave us a very reasonable estimate. Just a week or two later Jordan and Manny arrived and got to work. They did a great job installing the gutters and they worked so fast! Travis also stopped by, explained some of the process to us and helped facilitate the process. The clean up needed a bit more attention. I know our yard is tricky since we don't mow or rack, but we found all sorts of screws and metal bits on the deck, driveway and sidewalk. Their rolling magnet isn't going to pick up aluminum trimmings, suggest a tarp and/or push-broom going forward. The work is beautiful and looks like it's always been there. I'm very pleased, recommend Straight Line for anything your house needs.
