Happy Valentine's Day and Anniversary dinner. We planned this date a little ahead of time. Made our reservations about a month ahead of time. The restaurant was fairly packed with a few tables open. I was disappointed that we were directed to a table at the back of the restaurant near the restroom and kitchen. Our waitress was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Got a reservation for Wednesday night since it looked like Waynesville was booked full. Our second time at The Roost and we're disappointed. The server was the best thing about the meal, very kind and obviously overworked. One bartender, two servers and apparently two in the kitchen- no way to handle a packed restaurant. Our salad took more than an hour to come out. My pork filet came out ice cold and looked like dog food. My husband's steak was great but just truly disappointed that one of our few date nights was not as expected. read more

Great atmosphere and amazing service. The crab cakes were delicious, crab meat with little filling, light breading, cooked perfectly. 2 cakes as an appetizer are more than enough for an entree. Smash burger special was excellent but the meatloaf was the star! 100% beef seasoned perfectly, mixed with tomatoes and onions. Definitely worth a try. read more

The chicken cordon bleu wrap was delicious. It's a hot wrap with nice, thick ham, chicken and melted cheese. The mustard sauce is the perfect addition. I also enjoyed the squash and brussel sprouts as my side. Everything was hot and tasty. The serving size was generous. I had plenty to take home for lunch tomorrow. The service was good, with an attentive and friendly server. The space is open and inviting. I enjoyed a nice key lime martini (they had another name for it which I can't recall) but it was very good. I'll likely come back again while I'm in the area. read more

Dropped in for dinner while staying at Waynesville Inn. Very very clean restaurant with very nice ambiance. Service was excellent and every single employee was delightful. Wonderful new FROM SCRATCH discovery! DELICIOUS food from a family business! From the super tasty reuben with bread made in house to roasted butternut squash this place has a GREAT variety of choices and we LOVED everything we had. The chicken cordon bleu and fries were just as yummy. It was a very inviting atmosphere from a casual lunch to a nice dinner with very friendly wait staff and a polished feel to everything. Wow, the food was awesome! We just moved to Waynesville and ate at the Roost Chop House last night. We worked unpacking boxes all day and didn't get to the restaurant until 8:00 PM on a Saturday night. There were quite a few table but we were seated in a very comfortable booth right away. Our server was friendly and attentive! Because it was late, and we were tired, we ordered sandwiches. I got the Tuna Sliders (3 sliders) with pineapple which were delicious and full of tender tuna, cooked perfectly. My husband loved his meatloaf sandwich on sourdough bread with caramelized onions. The owner, Sam, came over to check on us and was very nice and friendly. This restaurant has a varied menu with a range of prices. Our food was delicious and a great value for the quality! Four of us went to The Roost ChopHouse on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at about 1 PM . The restaurant was about a quarter full, our server came back to us three times to ask what we wanted and never wrote it down, after about 40 minutes, came back and told us that it would be another 20 minutes because the kitchen was extremely busy, at that point we decided to leave. There was someone there who appeared to be either the owner or manager looked at us, but never approached us or asked us anything. So while we're unable to comment on the food because we were unable to get any , we can comment on the service which was horrible. read more

My husband and I met new friends there for lunch so we were reluctant to take issue while we were there with what turned out to be a very disappointing experience all around. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. Three of us received our drinks quickly while it took 10 minutes for a Bloody Mary to arrive. Server explained the bartender had to "cook" the toppings - a fired scallop, a pickled okra, a fried pork belly, fried bacon - the garnishes were ridiculous (unexpected and unwanted) and so was the price at $20.00. Not a typical bloody mary and certainly not in the typical price range. Asked to have my side salad brought out when the others received their soup and found $2.00 charge for that on the check. We should have been told about the very pricey drink and the plate charge. The chicken pot pie was tasty but had only three tiny, dry pieces of chicken in it. The fried scallop appetizer was fried to the point very little scallop was left. The "house wine" was a meager pour at $12.00. And most disturbing of all was the toddler of one of the staff was allowed to run screaming from one end of the restaurant to the other, with the mother trailing behind with a pleased smile on her face as if that was the cutest thing. Finally, after many minutes of this, a staff person who appeared to be the grandfather took the toddler outside which resulted in this now full restaurant erupting in applause. Drinks, one onion soup, one chicken pot pie - $96.00. Definelty not worth it. read more
