I haven't taken a second to look at the other reviews, but I will tell you this pub was solid. It was a gorgeous day between brakes of rain so we decided to go outside and eat. The service was fantastic. She was super attentive. My husband got a club sandwich that was humongous and I got a grilled cheese with bacon. I was feeling the need for comfort. While we waited, my husband got that sunfish beer he liked so much one of the other bars we went to, and I got a mango margarita with spicy tequila . I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised with my drink. It was top-notch. The server talked about how they're looking at better ingredients and how they work on their seasonal drinks not something you expect from a college dive bar. Our sandwiches came out. My husband's was huge, and mine was perfectly cooked, as well as had fantastic amount of bacon on it. Everything was fine. We went into a basement downstairs, very sketchy. My strawberry lemonade didn't come for 20+ minutes? Don't know why that was, all you have to do is pour it into a glass and serve it. Wings weren't great, kind of bland. The mango habanero wasn't really spicy and didn't have great flavor. My burger was cooked medium, pretty well cooked but was dry and not really juicy. Quesadillas were average and my brother liked his food. Went there the other night with my mom and sister. We got there at 4pm.. there was maybe 10 ppl there.. it took the waitress about 20 minutes just take a drink order then another 20 minutes to get our drinks.. then 10 to take our food order.. me and my sis order a salad.. my mom ordered at cheese burger and fries.. it took another 40 minutes for our order to come out.. thay was not that busy for it to take that long.. then my moms burger was raw. She ordered it medium rare.. blood was dripping out of it. So my mom sent it back.. then waited another 20 to 30 minutes for that. During that time me and my sister finshed our salad and my mom finshed her fries .. so we was ready to just get our check.. she was full and still no burger. So I told the waiter we was ready for our check and my mom told her she didnt want the burger now.. then waitress came back with one check. We told her it was 3 separate slips please.. so she went to fix it and came back with our slips and a to go box with my mom burger in it. And my mom said again she did not want the burger.. cause she not going to go home and reheat it that's gross.. and she looked at her slip and thay took the burger off the slip but then add it back on.. my mom told the waitress she didn't want the burger now and wasn't going to pay for it.. and then the waitress said in a rude manner that her and the owner decided that the burger was not rare and she will have to pay for it.. my mom said u can keep the damn burger.. my mom is 78 years old and was a waitress for many years and owned her own food cart for years so she nows what a medium rare burger is.. this had boold dripping out of it.. that waitress was very rude and just kepped arguing with my mom.. we was there from 4pm to 6:20 pm.. just for a burger and fries and 2 salads.. then the emailed her a very nasty email.. the new owners aren't going to last if thay allow waitress to be so rude to customers and for there food to come out like that.. we have always love going there. Have been for year.. and when family come up from out of state we take them there.. but now under new owners that will not happen ever again.. read more

I travel for work I have been to almost every place I have never went to a place where u can get ur chicken uncooked and they have a problem with fixing it !!! They were extremely racist and told me and my colored friends to never come back I would not recommend this place for anyone to eat if u are a Caucasian person and u have dignity and respect for colored people you should also agree!!! We stopped by The Roost on a late night drive to Sugarloaf. None of the other kitchens in the area were open. We called in an order and they let us eat it there over a few drinks. Def Leppard was playing when we walked in! 10/10 service. All of the staff was incredibly nice! It was a local spot that made us city slickers feel welcome. My wife and I dropped into The Roost for an after dinner beverage and to mingle with another couple that we had recently met. As we entered the establishment, I was approached by an employee (Melissa) and was told that we need to leave immediately. I was far from intoxicated. I was extremely insulted by her lack of judgement. I have family members that own bars/restaurants and they would never judge someone as soon as they walked in the door. If I owned an establishment of this nature, I would make sure not to employ such an individual (Melissa) to even wash dishes. Terrible attitude and terrible experience. Over the weekend my friend and I decided to take a trip to Maine to visit my parents. We decided we wanted to get some drinks and food from the roost on a Saturday night. As we arrived we both noticed it was getting good business, as expected due to the weekend. My friend and I were greeted by a women who seemed to find us an inconvenience, if not that then she must have been having a bad day. Still never an excuse to be rude and belatedly ignore new customers. She would also stop mid sentence to talk to friends just coming in the door as she was trying to service us.l Again not how you would treat new customers. However.. the next day I had realized I left my ID at the bar. No biggie I will just text their Facebook page due to the fact they are closed now. They had messaged back saying they would check on Monday for my ID. Perfect, or so I thought. I had asked if they could get back to me ASAP on Monday due to the fact that I would be leaving town the same very day. They had responded "Yes I told you I would check tomorrow. I don't believe its there." I was kinda taken back from the rude response. Long story short it was Thursday when the Roost had messaged me back that they indeed had my license. By then of course I had ordered a new ID thinking id never get mine back just like a response from them. All around I would say they have shit customer service, weak drinks and don't be dead set on your order because 9 times out of 10 they seem not to have it. AKA we don't serve that anymore and we are too lazy to update our menu. I wouldn't recommend going here and I would take your money elsewhere just like I will from now on. read more

We just left The Roost, having a dinner before a concert. It was an awesome experience. The sign out front warned of slow service due to staffing issues, but we saw no problem. Mindy was one of the best waitresses I've ever had, and I eat out alot. The food was reasonably priced and delicious, but the service was almost incomparable. My family and I stopped in around 4pm as a group of 8. The first thing I noticed when sitting down here is how sticky the table was. Gross. When ordering, they seemed to be out of a lot of things, which seemed kind of strange since it was not busy at all, and it was not yet dinner time. Our waitress also seemed like basic human interaction was kind of a hassle to her. "Please," "thank you," etc were generally met with silence ‍ Oh, and this place is in a basement, so if it's not nighttime, you'll feel like a caveman emerging from the darkness when you leave. The Roost can be a decent or unpleasant experience depending on the day. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Carolina Lightning Wings are the most notable food to try. However, it is not uncommon to wait a long time before actually getting it. In terms of service, the staff is more commonly cold mannered than not. Sometimes the waitresses and the bouncers become snippy with you for no reason at all. In a dinner setting, my orders have been ignored after numerous inquiring. In the bar setting, I have literally been yelled at 20 minutes before last call to get out of the restaurant while I was paying my bill. I should note that in both of these scenarios, I was respectful and had not consumed enough alcohol to be incoherent or belligerent to be treated in this manner. Best advice: Go here on a weekday night when it isn't busy unless you have an extreme amount of patience and self control when it comes to the staff. read more

Unpleasant Experience: Last summer (2012) my wife & I decided to give this relatively new place a try for dinner before a movie in Farmington. Maybe they were understaffed or something, but it took 10 minutes before we were given menus and almost 10 more before we got glasses of water and place settings. My wife's first 2 menu selections were unavailable. Shortly after taking our order they asked us to move to a table for two under a blaring television. There were other large tables but they were either occupied or sitting uncleared with used plates. Shortly after moving us they told me that they were out of my menu selection too and I would have to choose again. At this point, we wouldn't have had time to wait for meals to be cooked and eaten and still catch our movie. So after about 35 minutes we had only had a glass of water and meals weren't even started. We just told them to forget a out it and left. It was pretty stuffy in there also, bad air flow. I really wanted it to work out as there a so few decent places to eat in the area. I know this is more of a wing joint and pub with a pool table but it's like they're not even trying when it comes to serving food. I had heard from a friend that the service was really lousy but she had eaten there when they first opened. I figured I'd give them time to hit their stride and put their best foot forward by waiting until summer to try it. I hope they get their act together or they're gone. read more

My boyfriend (who has sleep apnea, narcolepsy and was my designated driver for the night) was kicked out of the bar for closing his eyes for less than a minute. We were there to watch our friend play at open mic and he hadn't played yet. The bouncer went up to him and started yelling at him that he needed to leave. The two purses that were next to him were our friends whom he was watching for them. The bouncer shouted, "Is that your purse? Well it should be. Pay your tab and leave." Everyone has a story, and if it had been his purse... who cares? I will never go to The Roost again and I now see this bar as homophobic and intolerant. I've never been at a bar and been treated in such a way. Is it so hard to tap someone on the shoulder and tell them they're not allowed to close their eyes? Instead you must shout at them, insulate they're gay (like that's something to be ashamed of?) and make them leave without warning? This is ridiculous and just plain disrespectful behavior from a business in this town. read more

This was the worst place I've ever attempted to eat at in my 30 years. We walked in and sat, after about 10 minutes they acknowledged us. They brang us 1 fork for 6 people, so we asked for 5 more sets of silverware. They carded my brother in law and denied him alcohol he's 41. The law is you card anyone looking under 27. She said he doesn't look 41 to her so I guess that means he looks 20. No. We waited 45 minutes for the food we ordered and it didn't come how we ordered. So we complained and they ate the bill. I brought my mother and myself out to dinner at the Roost the other day. We both ordered a basket of their Buffalo Wings. Though the food is normally good, unfortunately, this time the chicken was not up to par. When the waitress asked how our food was, I explained to her, though the food was still edible, it was overcooked. Her response was, "Oh, that happens sometimes." The roost established itself as a chicken wing restaurant but seems to me like it's more of a spot for locals and college kids to drink beers. I've had wings here a couple of times - meh. Not awesome by any stretch. They go very heavy on the sauce which isn't quite my thing, maybe it's your thing though. I've seen music here a time or two and that was fun. The place is in the basement of a building in downtown Farmington and there aren't many windows so it's dark in there. It's probably the last place I would want to go during the day or in the summer time but it bodes well with me on a cold winters night. read more

Picture this: Finals week of your senior year. You and your friends are out on the town ready to take on the world. You hop around Farmington on a night of adventure and decide to go to the Roost. IDs in hand you walk in and are ready to get the party started. Unbeknownst to me the Roost takes their ID checking game to a whole new level. They achieve this by having an inept ability to discern a real ID from a fake one. Their methodology you might ask? An expired and water damaged license catalogue, also Facebooking me on a phone with a heavily shattered screen. Needless to say, the roost is not a place to go if you're looking for a setting with any slight degree of intellect, insight, or togetherness. This was a great little place to go for wings and things! We did not hit it during college season, so not sure how it would be then, but we had fantastic service and great food. We started out with the Carolina Lightning sauce( which was recommended)" the tangy not too hot" and the Lava sauce, " hot & spicy. The Carolina was awesome. I can taste it right now. The hot was not what I would consider hot because I like spicy, so we went kind of crazy and got the Nuclear sauce next, " Ridiculous, very hot, atomic". Ok, so they got me. You could see the pepper flakes on it it was so hot. My mouth was on fire and their description was pretty accurate. It seemed like they needed a level between the Lava and the Nuclear. These were two very different extremes. But they were not inedible, but I was the only one in the family who could eat more than one. We also liked the onion rings, they were fantastic! We recently stopped at this restaurant on a Saturday night (Dec 29th) on a return trip from a ski trip to Sugarloaf with our two kids (family of 4). When we arrived, there were two tables open, two waitresses working, and a bar tender tending to 3 people at the bar. It was busy - but not "slammed". While there were no signs indicating whether we needed to wait to be seated or not, we went to the prominent center of the restaurant and waited to be greeted. After 10 minutes, one of the waitresses finally told us she would be clearing a table for us in a minute. Instead, she went behind the bar and started pouring drinks while the actual bartender flirted with the 3 patrons. 5 minutes later, after watching her do everything but get a table ready for us, and after watching her pour more drinks for people while the bartender did nothing but wash some glasses, I approached the bar and spoke up. I pointed out all that I have just written here to the waitress and she told me the bartender was not yet on duty and that she was just coming on. Huh? She had been there the 15 minutes we were there. If the bartender wasn't supposed to be working, then why was she doing just that behind the bar. Once a few minutes more went by and even more tables opened up, and we realized these people absolutely cared nothing about our patronage, we grabbed the kids and walked out. The 2nd waitress, who walked by us at least 20 times never even acknowledged us. It was the most foolish thing we have ever seen. If I ran this business and saw my employees treat Customers that way - I would have fired all of them. I will never go to this restaurant again. read more

First of all, this place has the best wings I've ever had, INCREDIBLE! The bartender my cousin and I had was Melissa, she was totally awesome! She was very nice and always caught what I was saying anytime I randomly requested something even when she was crazy busy. Not an easy thing to do as a bartender so big props there! Now, luckily I did come here before reading the reviews because the ones I noticed are total Bullshit. The 33 year old complaining about not getting served..I think a 33 year old should be old enough to know you need your ID if you want alcohol. It's the law regardless. BOTTOM LINE, this place is freaking awesome! I highly suggest it to anyone passing by or living in the area. Sometimes you gotta give places a chance yourself instead of only taking another person's word for it. Hope you all enjoy the review! read more
