A delightful little gallery come arts and crafts shop situated in an old fishing building in…read morebeautiful Sennen Cove. I'm quite relieved that I was trekking when I came across this little gem otherwise I could have spent a fortune in here. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the inability to carry much kept my purse firmly closed. Well, almost, one small item won't make much difference in my rucksack...! Everything in here is produced in Cornwall by local artists and included all crafts ranging from pictures, to ceramics, woodwork, jewelery, fabrics and furniture. It has limited opening hours but definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and are in the market for a few new purchases.

Incorporating exhibition areas, work and interactive spaces, a cafe and shop, The Exchange is a magnetic visit attraction, with free entry and if you need any further incentive, excellent toilet facilities handy to the centre of town (where desperately lacking otherwise). At the moment you can view Tatsomi Orimoto's work - basically a photo collage of his Alzheimic mother - not sure you won't merely conclude it's a pretty shameful exploitation exercise - but art is for interpretation and personal appreciation - leave that judgement to you. The cafe is very pleasant, open and spacious with a friendly service - the coffee is excellent and the carrot cake a moist deliciousness. Prices are reasonable and there is a nice selection of snacks and even more substantial menu items. Highly recommended.

This shop has seen some real peaks and troughs over the last decade or so. The first real triumph…read morewould have been when new owners bought the places near the beginning of the millenium. They made such a difference to the quality of a visitor's experience when visiting Boscastle, with improved stock, wonderful staff, and superb hand crafted shelving and open and closed sign. The major trough was clearly the famous flood of several summers ago. Hopefully the shop will recover, although obviously never reach the dizzy heights of the early 2000s. Art is there to be appreciated and bought; long may the picture parlour thrive in these uncertain times.
