Our server was really sweet and thorough in explaining to us questions we had about the menu. The aesthetics of The Roxy is warm, welcoming, modern, and provided a comfortable dining experience for diners both at the bar and at the table. The Ricotta Gnocchi came after about 15 minutes and was deliciously creamy, and cooked perfectly where it was both tender and provided a chewy texture which we found enjoyable. The portion was on the smaller side which we were informed by our server. It also looked very pretty as well! The duck breast and the faroe island salmon both came after another 20 minutes, which took quite a while since they weren't really that busy at the time. The duck breast was tender with a crispy skin that was paired deliciously with its cherry jus, so I highly recommend getting that! However, the salmon was overcooked and quite bland compared to the other two, which was quite disappointing and left us feeling hungry despite spending over 100 for 3 dishes. Although we enjoyed some of their selections, the high price tag did not really justify both the ricotta gnocchi appetizer-like portion, and the underwhelming and bland faroe island salmon. The Roxy has potential of being amazing, so I hope they take into consideration this review to continue to improve and change up their menu. I discovered The Roxy by searching restaurants in Jersey City. As a resident of JC I had never heard of it but from looking at the menu and reviews, I was sold. The ambiance is warm, and intimate and the aesthetic feels modern but not stiff. I was greeted by the male host who was welcoming and friendly. There was one waitress on staff who was great. As service was picking up she handled everything like a boss, never lost composure and was attentive with each table. Will definitely be returning. Only reason wasn't a 5, because it did take long for the check but no fault to the waitress. read more

It was aight - my bf and I also came in after the Justin Timberlake concert was canceled so there's that. *wah* the staff is very friendly and attentive. The inside is sleek, modern and elegant. I tried a mezcal cocktail which was delicious. The cavatelli was delectable but a little underdone and salty. The trout was delicious - huge portion and interesting presentation with the head on. The crisp, more fried portions I found delicious along with the marinated veggies on top. Was a bit sad the waitress had said there was only one halibut left and someone else ordered it right before us. Also the chocolate dessert wasn't able to be prepared to go, however the meal was overall tasty and presented well. Loved the background music and ambience. Jersey City finally has NYC-caliber cuisine thanks to Roxy. Came here on a Saturday for cocktails and apps and was really happy with our experience. The atmosphere is chic but not stuffy. We sat inside but will try the sidewalk tables next time. We ordered glazed carrots that were nicely cooked and seasons as well as the burrata, which was tasty with a stunning presentation. Mushroom dumplings were delicate and a nice option for non-meat eaters in my group. Cocktails were creative and wide-ranging. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Phenomenal experience! Went with two friends, and while they didn't have any walk in tables available we sat at the bar which was great because the bartender was really friendly. The menu is definitely smaller, but it changes often. Everything we ordered was fresh and had so much flavor. There was a ricotta & duck stuffed ravioli as an appetizer, the octopus was really tender and the Cavetelli pasta was so unique - it was almost in a Marsala type sauce with mushrooms? 10s across the board! My husband and I are huge fans of Corto in JC heights so when we heard Chef Rachel from Corto was mostly at the Roxy, we had to stop by- as expected, it did not disappoint! We got plenty of apps to start. The scallion pancake was unique with a tangy and lemony sauce. The mushroom dumplings had a great umami. I also ordered the lavender lemonade as a mocktail and it was not too sweet and super refreshing- and the price was great at only $7. My husband loved the mussels which had a unique miso butter sauce. We also shared the Peruvian chicken which was really flavorful- garlic rice and green sauce that came with it were delicious. I was excited to try this place right in my neighborhood, just a couple blocks away. Very cute place, decorated nicely and good lighting. Unfortunately, they had the door open and A/C off at the time, which was uncomfortable while dining. The portions are too small and the menu is too small. I felt personally victimized when they brought out the "skewers" and it was a single piece of meat with two skewers in it. No steak knife. The waitress was sweet and knew just about everything about the menu. Although, she neglected to tell me that the oysters would be pre-dressed with the sauce. The octopus was ok. The ambiance is very upscale but chill. We sat at the bar to have dinner. The bar tenders and staff are VERY attentive, knowledgeable and have a great attitude. The old fashioned here is excellent. The food is on par with any Manhattan or large-city high-end restaurant. I'm by no means a food critic but the uniqueness and flavors of the appetizers and mains was on point. This is a great date night spot or even just a spot to enjoy a nice evening by yourself. it's not too loud or crowded, at least on weekdays. The menu changes a lot so it's always exciting to return and see what they have. The current menu is a little fish forward (which i don't like) but i still found good food to try. I love how they play with different types of flavors and textures. the dishes are layered and far from one-note. The cocktails are also fun and have a unique spin to them. This is the best restaurant in Hudson County. Their menu is creative, American cuisine with nods to French recipes and Asian flavors. Hard to find a better combination of cuisines imo. We had mussels and sardine toast to start- the mussel sauce was both smoky and sweet but not overpowering. I'm dreaming about it now, days later. For mains we both had the duck entrees- the Pithivier and the seared breast. We walked to The Roxy from Bela apartments in Jersey City. The staff were so warm and welcoming to the 4 of us. Leo was our waiter and the service was great. He enjoyed explaining the various menu selections and details of some special drinks. The cocktails were wonderful and our food was beautifully plated, hot and cooked perfectly. We had the Caesar salad, a chicken and a pork entree. The lemon cake and the raspberry sorbet with a nice pairing of chocolate were both luscious. Justin, the owner, came by our table and we really enjoyed learning about The Roxy, which is a fairly new restaurant ( less than 2 years old). Justin comes up with all kinds of new cocktail creations and entree ideas, so the menu is interesting. The design of the restaurant is fresh and new, but also comfortable. They took our coats as soon as we entered the door practically. Go try "The Roxy". Our family highly recommends and we will visit The Roxy again soon. Was very excited to try a new place close to work. Bar area looks bright and exciting but the dining room was a bit too dull for me. Seating is very close. I'm a wide bottom girl and had difficulty getting in and out. Service was on point. But timing out of the kitchen was off. Cocktails were delicious and there were a good variety of exotic options. Ordered the liver parfait which was served with two whole pieces of bread absolutely delicious. I ordered the halibut which was served cold and raw in the center, but yet it had an excellent crusty sear on top. Our waitress immediately brought it back into the kitchen and was told they would make me a brand new one. My friend ordered the pork chop , she was surprised to see it was off the bone and pre-sliced making it a bit dry. It came whole collared green leaves with kimchi. We ordered the duck potatoes as a side dish as my halibut only came with four cockles. The potatoes were served immediately after our appetizer and were cold by the time our dinner arrived. They want ice cold by the time I got my second halibut. The highlight of the night was the strawberry rhubarb pie absolutely fantastic. Best thing I ate all night. The manager brought us an after dinner drink apologizing for the fish. I found the portions to be quite small for the price they were charging. I'll give it one more try in a month or so. Satis or 87 Sussex are a better option. read more

I finally got a chance to check out The Roxy after seeing it opened months back. I wasn't sure what to expect given that it's pretty unassuming from the outside. But the entire meal was stellar. I highly recommend the pork chop and summer vegetables gratin. The staff was great throughout the meal too. Just a great experience all around, even the night's soundtrack was fantastic. I see the potential and maybe we shouldn't have dined here until they worked out their kinks a couple months in. I wanted to love it since I'm a big fan of Cortó, but I found the dishes underwhelming. The roasted carrots were more on the raw crunchy side. There were little chopped up pieces of lobster in the couscous with the scallops entree that honestly didn't warrant the lobster be in the title of the dish. The dessert was very dry(maybe it was supposed to be?) and my espresso martini didn't have any coffee liqueur as advertised on the menu, it was just espresso and vodka. Very disappointing. I will say, Service was very attentive and very polite. The space looks great and the bar is gorgeous, but for how much the bill came up to, it's not worth it. read more

The Roxy is a welcome addition to the JC dining scene. Service is friendly and professional and the food is excellent. We started with a sardine tartine, which felt like a little trip to Spain. For mains: Hubby had mushrooms cavatelli and I had snapper with Thai julienne veggies. Both delicious. Espresso martinis were also excellent. We love that wine is available by glass or bottles. (Also half glass!) There is no price for full bottle on the menu (my pet peeve) but we asked and the delicious rose was a fair $60 for the bottle. Room is sleek and sound level easy to converse in. On the whole, we enjoyed the evening and intend to go back. But you should stay away so I won't have trouble getting a reservation next time! read more

Absolutely my family's favorite restaurant in Jersey City! We've been here a few times now, and it is such a pleasant and positive vibe every single time. We're always counting the days to coming here after making our reservation! The host is lovely and our waiter always makes us feel so special and they are so welcoming to our daughter which is so nice! In short the service is impeccable and other restaurants should honestly take note :) And of course the food is impeccable too and on par to some of the best dining experience we've had. I love that they change the menu up every once in a while, and each time creatively crafted! We were immediately impressed as we entered The Roxy's tasteful decor - warm hues of color throughout the lounge and dining area. Hostess seated us and we were greeted by our waiter, Anthony, who brought us water and menus to make selections for drinks and food. Pleasant, no rushing. Anthony was very personable during our visit. Anthony was most describing dishes we were contemplating, very helpful. Our drinks were great! Our party ordered the Hot Buttered Rum (perfect for a chilly evening), a Peppered Pear (rave review!), and Jack's Abby Craft Lager House Lager, Hells Lager (a good one). We started with an appetizer, the Smoked Whitefish Spread - shallot, chive, dill, accompanied by house crackers. This appetizer was delicious! For dinner, our party ordered the Beef Short Rib - gem lettuce, sweet pickle, basil, and house sauce. This dish, hands down was a favorite. The beef was cooked to perfection, and so flavorful! Unique dish you could prepare your own "wrap" with the gem lettuce with the sauce and ribbons of flavorful carrots. Anthony provided additional pieces of the gem lettuce - wonderful service. The other dish was the Cavatelli - local mushroom, garlic, shallot and white miso - a delicious dish! Anthony's attention to detail and provided impeccable service. Anthony surprised us with a candle on a plate to commemorate us celebrating a birthday of one in our party. Too full for dessert, we ended the meal with a delicious cup of coffee. I understand it is aiming to serve the local community, and it is one of the only restaurants around, but the portion sizes are small, and the cost is just too high for what you get. The Roxy Restaurant in JC is our new favorite spot. We had 5:30 reservations and by the time we left, the restaurant was fully booked. My table shared a few different appetizers. The Octupus, Roasted Carrots and Prosciutto Cheese Puffs. I loved them all but I think my favorite was the tender Octopus on top of crunchy lentils. So delicious!! The entrees were wonderful also. Atlantic Halibut so fresh and the fillet of duck was cooked to perfection. The bar serves unique cocktails. The Lavender lemonade was not just beautiful to look at but great tasting as well. Service and food was great. Not cheap. The drinks were the smallest pours I have ever seen in Jersey City. The martini was tiny. The wine was $25 a glass chosen by the bar tender.
