My wife and I got married nearby to here the day before, and so we thought it would be nice to have a champagne breakfast with some close family the day after.
Initially, we were very impressed, as we were greeted warmly and offered coffees whilst we waited for our additional guests.
Once we were seated everything went well, with our waiter taking our cooked breakfast and tea/coffee order.
After this we were confused, as the menu stated that other food would be part of the service (fruit salad, granola, hot pastries etc.).
After waiting for 10 minutes we thought that maybe it was a buffet, so went to find the food. We were then told that food would be brought to us.
We were then waiting again.
Eventually the food arrived, shortly followed by the cooked orders.
Eggs Benedict should have been called Egg (singular) Benedict, as it consisted of one egg and half of an English muffin, which was odd.
My full English should have been called a 90% English, as other people had things on theirs which I appeared to be missing.
Overall, the food wasn't bad, just lacking in any quantity.
Also the toast arrived 5 minutes after everybody had finished eating which wasn't ideal.
It is when I went to settle up that things went from bad to worse.
I was asked how everything was, and when I started to mention the issues raised above, the lady kept interrupting me, telling me that I was wrong, and not letting me finish a single sentence. The (I assume manager) was sitting next to her, who initially stepped in and allowed me to finish. That said, he then very sternly told me to 'stop being rude' in the most condescending manner I have ever heard - despite the fact that I was calm and trying to offer constructive criticism.
This riled me up hugely, however I chose not to rise to it, pay my bill and leave.
After this experience I shall not be revisiting this venue for a very long time, and have made no secret of sharing my experience with friends and family.
I strongly recommend finding somewhere else to have a champagne breakfast, as you will leave this place feeling infuriated and let down. read more
