A home made steak pie costs £1.30 and a Hot, Thick cut Roast beef barmcake costs just £2.30! Both these are a must try and apparently you haven't lived until you have had a Greeleys Steak pie. Live a little! The majority of the produce sold comes from the Greeleys home farm, where they breed and rear a lot of their own animals. It does get busy during lunch time, but there are always plenty of staff serving so the queues don't last long. They also cater for outside events where they can provide a full spit roast pig etc! The restaurant area is on a first floor mezzanine level, looking down over parts of the food hall like a minstrels gallery. It's decorated in bright and fresh neutral colours, grounded by a natural wooden floor. Light cascades in through sash windows on two walls. Glimpses through cut-outs in the walls show further seating areas, for use in the full restaurant of an evening. I took a menu from the bar and had a read. The breakfast offerings look good, but as I read the menu I realise that the rest of the menu looks superb too! Steak nights, grill nights, Afternoon Teas and all sorts of other tempting things. I already decide before ordering that I must come again to the "proper" restaurant in an evening. I decided to order sourdough toast with whipped butter and marmalade, and a pot of Birchall's English Breakfast Tea, and was told to take a seat anywhere I like and it'd be brought over. I chose to sit by one of the sash windows and look down out over Market Street. Even seated I can see the fine quality finish on everything in this venue; the restaurant is the same quality and fit as the downstairs foodhall, meaning everything is spotless, modern, and pleasant. The staff upstairs seem to be as friendly and helpful as the staff downstairs too. It all feels very professional, whilst still very friendly. I observe other visitors who join after me, a mother and her children enjoying breakfast, some ladies-who-lunch ordering eggs benedict, and two young girls ordering soft drinks. It's nice to see that there's a mix of customers. My breakfast arrives, beautifully presented, but to be honest I wouldn't have expected any less from Provenance from what I've seen. The Fairtrade tea is delicious, and the sourdough toast has a superb crunch to it, the butter and marmalade both being of good quality, meaning you feel a bit spoilt for your breakfast, which can never be a bad thing. It was a very tasty breakfast, and cost less than four quid. Brilliant. It is a paid car park... we missed that the first time, but fortunately it was such a quick trip we didn't have to worry about a ticket. Oops. There is a petrol station, which might also be causing some of the traffic problems. There is a covered area where you can wait for a taxi, but it doesn't seem to be large enough. There is an ATM as well. Another complaint I have, the large spinning doors to the store. One of the reasons for parking below the store... not having to put up with the spinning doors! There always seems to be someone who doesn't know how to use it and the whole thing just stops. Not to mention carts and this contraption are just not a good combination. They have a cafe and while it is cheap, I think I would prefer to pick up a snack at the deli or bakery at the back of the store. The store is always super busy and can make a quick shop a bit of a challenge. I do like their bakery and actually think they have some better looking (and tasting) dessert options than some of the other supermarkets in town. I also like their deli... really I like the part next door where they are baking pies, pasties, and sausage rolls. They always have fresh pasties and sausage rolls... sometimes they are still warm! There are usually queues at the tills, but the staff are friendly. There are usually a number of self-checkout machines that are not working, so I usually skip the self-checkout here. This location is a short walk away from Chorley Station, opposite Market Walk Shopping Centre, with parking close-by. The product range in most cases is pretty good, they seem to focus on great service and high-quality items, they have many counters selling fresh produce so I was able to get some excellent quality meat and cheese, at a good price. They did have another fresh counter selling hot food, however something I found strange was how the jacket potatoes were pre-made with toppings on, they only had one left which had chilli on, obviously as I don't like chilli and this contained gluten, it meant I couldn't have it and it would have gone to waste. Surely if you have to go to a manned hot food counter anyway, having them ready and adding toppings on demand would be much better for both Booths (They can sell more potatoes) and the customer (You can actually get the fillings you want) The Free From selection seemed limited, especially for the size of the store, they didn't have the Findlaters Gluten-Free bread, which is my favourite gluten-free bread, which they stock at their Media City branch in Manchester, they did, however, have the bread rolls/baps, however, after getting home I realised they were past their expiration date so I didn't want to chance eating them, being charged £3.65 for expired food just isn't good enough. No reduced stickers, so the staff weren't even aware they were expiring soon. The meal deals were also misleading, I thought I'd pick up a gluten-free sandwich (Don't bother with them - the bread is hard and inedible!) as well as two snacks and a drink for £4, however it wasn't until I arrived home that I realised my drink wasn't classed as in the meal deal. After speaking to the store, I was told only certain drinks are classed in the meal deal, even though they are all-together anyway - I find this to be rather ridiculous and misleading and ended up costing me £2.20 more than I should have paid. 4* - Despite its' flaws, the staff are great here and the store has a good vibe and a great selection of high-quality foods which can't compare with any other supermarket so it is worth a trip out for, they do need to work on some pretty major problems. They have promised me a refund on my future visit, if this is adhered to I will continue to visit this store which has been in Chorley for over 100 years, although at this location for a shorter period of time.

I will say this . although a little pricey the food does seem to be good quality. And if you want quality then prices will refect that. My biggest hate of the store is their fresh bread. On the side shelfs they sell alot of fresh uncut loafs unwrapped. You pick a paper bag and put the loaf or sticks in the bag yourself. You never know how many people have squeezed the loaf and moved on, or how many people have sneezed on it. No unwrapped bread or rolls for me thanks. My usual Supermarket wrapped fresh loaves.
