As far as thrift stores go this one is too dark. You need to see what you're buying. However, with all clothing being 99 cents the day I visited, i took my chances. This sale price included mens sports coats! Everything in the clothing department! Furniture and wall hangings were not high quality and beat up. Very limited selection of house wears. The store is organized and like every thrift store--there are treasures waiting to be found. I actually had great success and spent only $3. Cashier was friendly. read more

History

Established in 1865.

In 1865, William Booth and his wife Catherine established the Christian Mission, later known as the Salvation Army, aiming to combat poverty and religious indifference with military precision. Booth structured the organization like the British army, with uniformed ministers as “officers” and new members as “recruits.” The Christian Mission, which granted women equal ranks to men, initiated “campaigns” in London’s poorest areas, starting with soup kitchens and expanding to offer various forms of aid. Renamed in 1878, The Salvation Army opened its first U.S. branch in Pennsylvania two years later. During the Great Depression, it provided essential services, and it played significant roles in both world wars. Today, headquartered in London, it operates in over 130 countries, running evangelical centers, hospitals, rehabilitation programs, community and social work centers, secondhand stores, and more. Funding comes from voluntary contributions and publication sales.

The door is secured with hook and eye latches to keep it secure. Inside, four shelves. Not quite empty but there is some stuff in here. Canned goods and some other non-perishables and a box of mac & cheese. A great help if someone is needing just a little bit to get by. Well done. I may have been too hasty since 8 am came and went which wasn't just right. I called the plumber's mobile phone. He apologized for the delay and showed up at 11 am instead. That was OK, but I don't think they'll be changing their name. Anyway, to make a long story short, Just Right installed the replacement valve I bought from Amazon, and for the inconvenience of missing my appointment, charged me only $85. Just call me Happy!
