I've lived in Akron for 6 years. When I first moved here, the score was super fun and I was a regular. However, a few years ago, they changed their dress code. I tried to go on a Wednesday with some friends for drinks, wings, and a game. However, they turned me away because I was wearing shorts. Mind you, the bar was EMPTY. We just wanted to get a drink and some food. However, the bouncer would not let me in. Tonight, I decided to give it one more shot. I hadn't had a single drink, but I did trip on the tall top stair. The bouncer would not let me in 'because I was stumbling all over the place and way too drunk.' Seriously, save yourself the trouble and stay FAR away from Score. The bouncers are power hungry nobodies who want to feel the little tinge of power from turning paying customers away. God forbid you ever trip in their vicinity. read more

I've been coming to this bar for the past years of my college experience. I have seen great improvements over the years as the bar has grown into a safe and fun place for the students to enjoy! I highly recommend the white cheese pizza, my all time favorite. The staff has always been so welcoming from the bartenders all the way to the bouncers at the front door (special credit to Daniel Tometsko aka. Nice bar/diner across from the UA football stadium. Lots of beers on tap. Clean. Known for good cheesesteak sandwiches. Order at the counter. Waitress brings the food. Try the fried pickles spears. Yum! Nice bathrooms, too. read more

It was absolutely horrible. First off it took 20 minutes to get our drink, and then ordered our food. It took an hour before telling us that it wasn't on the menu. 2 hours for 2 salad and I got the meatball hoagie and it was stone cold. I go up and ask to reheat it and the chef put the styrofoam in the microwave and it melted into the food. Absolutely horrible and disgraceful to Akron. read more

Can't beat the food specials or the $2 house draft beers. Tuesday night $5 large pizzas, Wednesday night $4 gyros with fries - yes please. Great Cavs bar, with tunes for off nights. The service was great upon my entrance. It was early in the evening so the crowd wasn't large. I ordered a Sex on the Beach that was delicious. Boneless wings, pizza, and cheesesteak was my order from the menu. The establishment was very clean and friendly. I had plenty to eat and needed a container for leftovers. This gem is right across the street from the University of Akron Football Field. The new owners have really put this place on the map! The food is fantastic and daily drink specials are great! The bartenders make you feel right at home. The patio is a great place to hang out eat and enjoy the beautiful weather. read more

First! Overall not too bad. Basically a cleaner and newer version of Pints. The service was good, and the prices on the food and drinks were reasonable. The pretzel bites with cheese were pretty good, as well as the seasoned fries. The Philly cheese steak fries weren't that great though. The fries also come with some special ketchup that has a weird after taste. I appreciate the effort for coming up with something unique, but I'd prefer regular ketchup (which I'd assume is an option, I don't know I didn't ask). I'd go again, better than Manny's down the street. read more

The score was a bar that opened shortly before I graduated college. Just recently I visited the score during homecoming. The service was horrible. We sat at the bar for approximately 20 minutes, there were three bar tenders all of whom acknowledged our presence but failed to serve us. We watched patiently as new customers walked into the bar and were served immediately. It wasn't until a very nice patron asked one of the bar tenders to serve us that we were actually attended to. I would not recommend this bar. read more

Although the food was amazing, the manager refused to serve my friend with a valid id and a wrist band, saying it wasn't her. This was a big deal to her because she had recently undergone a major weight loss, in a year she lost 70 pounds! You could clearly see it was her but they said that the weight didn't match. When she said she would go get a new one, a gentleman helping with security said that She wouldn't even be able to use it because of the new way they make ID's. Met my husband and a few of his friends after a Zips game. The IPA I had was great and the service on that was good as well. I ordered 6 wings, celery and blue cheese and waited about 30 minutes or more for them. She checked in once to say they would be ready shortly, but then we didn't see her again until we asked about the wings. They were served almost cold (barely lukewarm). Sent them back for hot ones and again they came out barely warm (almost like they barely heated the ones they originally served). Also, didn't tell us they were out of celery until the second time. Service was poor and she was hardly apologetic. We did eventually get a refund and didn't eat our wings after speaking to a manager behind the bar. He apologized and helped us with taking it off our tab. Would probably not order food here again. read more

I have come to this bar since I was in college and my experience tonight was outrageous. The bartender ignored my friends and I for 20 minutes. Which, is understandable when busy. But, when we got our drinks we payed on one tab and tipped 11 dollars for all us of and then ordered one extra drink after closing( the bill was 15 and we signed for 26 dollars). We did not get the service that would be even acceptable and when we did not tip the second time the bartender threw the drink on us and told us we didn't know how to tip. We started to leave to get a way and the bartender grabbed my friend by the hair and pulled her through the bar until an undercover security guard broke it up. We will be following up to make sure the proper actions were taken on this bartender. We did not feel safe or welcome. The head of security was comforting after we told our story and made us feel secure. The only good thing to come out of this night out. The owner also tried to help but left as these guys vents escalated. read more
