It is more of a quick cuppa or take away sandwich place. Not knocking it in any way. I've had a fairly decent bite to eat there and my chai tea was good, albeit not quite hot enough. i just didn't find it comfortable enough to want to hang around beyond my food and drink. It's really small inside and the tables and chairs are pretty close together so you feel a bit squashed and conspicuous. It seems to me that it is more of a meeting place for a coffee and perhaps a treat (of which there are some delicious looking ones) And I don't suppose it claims to be anything else either. Its right there on Fiveways, that great junction in Paddington. So a better location you could not ask for and many of the pre-prepared lunch meals were sold out by the time I got there later on in the afternoon, so clearly it is fairly popular. For all I know it could be legendary with the locals! it was my first visit though and first impressions were 'nice, but nothing too special.'

Their banana bread is a divine slice of heaven on a plate. I also tried a fudge brownie with chocolate chips that was intensely sweet but packed an equally strong cocoa punch. Gusto also sells a variety of fresh paninis, wraps, and salads that will tickle anyone's taste buds. I would suggest that you try your hardest to get a seat outside to marvel at the harbor views. Also, you're a people-watcher like me, this is the place to do it. People flock to Gusto on a regular basis, so you might find yourself waiting to get a seat. Even so, you can still experience their tasty sandwiches on the go. The servers aren't very approachable or welcoming, but they do their job well.

The hand knitted scarves from Peru, acoustic and Celtic music playing the background, the vintage clothes and shoes corner down the back, the Indian rugs, the wooden floor boards, the globe hanging from the centre of the room, the random treasures I imagine collected on travels make this a Cafe a traveler would feel at home in. Some would recognize the hippy flavour but to me it tastes like home. The chicken, avocado, sun dried tomato and mayo on gluten free bread was as full and gourmet as I'd make at home - rough and beefy. Comforting. Coffee is fairtrade and organic. And I mean this in the best way possible, because it just feels CLEAN and light. There's salt on the table if blandness isn't for you, so you can easily change it up. Lately I've started to really appreciate the natural taste of each ingredient so enjoy food which isn't overly saucey or seasoned from time to time. The baked potato was also a winning dish. It comes with beans, cheese and avocado (and I guess naturally with salsa and sour cream as well). When I asked if I could replace the cheese with mushrooms, the lovely man who could also possibly be the owner, was hesitant and worried that it wouldn't taste nice. Instead he said he'll add more avocado and some tomato, and of course I was happy to leave it up to him as it seemed he genuinely cared about bringing out a tasty dish. He also double checked for no sour cream, which was a great touch as I hadn't mentioned it (it wasn't listed on the menu I don't think so I forgot). Really understanding what the customer is after and customising to their wants and needs! The potato came out with a salad on the side, and my oh my it was so good! Again, on the bland side but all the ingredients were so fresh and I loved the beans, and just everything about it. We also got a cranberry, watermelon and mint fruit whip and it was just as delicious and refreshing and went down so well with the food! I think that this place does all the things necessary to be a good cafe- funky interior, great tasting and interesting food, and not just good coffee- but a rotating bean menu. I had the fresh fig and ricotta on toast which was simply delightful. The combo of figs, ricotta, honey, walnuts and mint was a definite winner. And all the rest of the food I saw looked just as tasty. Brilliant coffee too- I just had the house bean (can't remember what it was) but it was great. To add the cherry on the coffee heaven, the food here is fantastic. Now the menus is limited but both my friend and I were ecstatic about our meals. I got the French toast and it was divine. It is a small kitchen, so if it crowded you might have to wait a bit. But that should be expected with any small cafe. What completely won it for me was the friendliness of the staff. A small error was made in my order (which was my fault) and they lady could not be more helpful. I will definitely come here again.
