It is a good mall, not as big as other malls in other major metropolitan areas. There is a Target, Dillard's, Belk, I think a JC Penny's, & a post office. Most of the better food restaurants are just near the main entrance, Baumhauer's, Boba Tea Deserts, Texas Brazil Steakhouse, etc. Inside, there is a pretzel place, Chick-Fil-A, a candy shop. Near the Target is a Surge Entertainment by Drew Brees. There is a Bath & Body Works, Hot Topic, Nail Salon, etc. I think there is a Victoria's Secret as well. read more

Apparently before my time in Mobile, this was a dueling ground--kidding, kinda! I've heard tell that this was not the shopping mall you wanted to visit for a while. Now, I'm thinking that the increased Mobile PD presence and the lookout tower in the middle of the parking lot has changed that. I go to The Shoppes at Bel Air, and I see a tiny mall that has their main "mall bases" covered. There's Forever 21, H&M, Victoria's Secret, Dillards, there's Target-- I'm good! New restaurants have also been added so I found myself frequenting more often once I noticed they have a PF Chang's. I didn't notice until I saw the construction for the Texas de Brazil. See how that works! Build it, make it a safe space-- they will come, and for the long time locals, it's more like "They will come BACK!" read more

Tried to post a review on google but apparently the mall doesn't want people to know what's going on there. Very disappointed about the lack of management at this place. What they need to worry about is the rat infestation they have. Instead of things like employee parking or where an employee can throw their trash away while on break. They don't feel like they hold any accountability for what's going on. Have brought it up to their attention but no one seems to be doing anything to fix the problem. Now instead of the rats hiding out in the shadows they are now running around in the mall in broad daylight. Hopefully they will get the rat infestation issue fixed ASAP!!! read more

I was really surprised at how much this mall has changed in the years I have been out of Alabama, and it has not changed for the better. Several of the stores seemed much the same as other stores in the mall. The arcade is no longer there; dispersed throughout the wings of the mall are random games. I had heard that bigger, better stores were moving into Bel Air Mall, and I expected stores like Williams-Sonoma, J.Crew, Nordstrom, or even an Apple Store. This mall has several footwear stores. . .so one has quite a selection to choose from for shoes. But I was overall disappointed. I'll save the bulk of my shopping for when I travel back home to Denver. This just isn't the place for a wide selection of stores or needs. read more

The last few times I've been here, it's been pretty pleasant experiences. It hasn't been overly crowded. There were no incidents involving fighting or other altercations, and both of these have been occurrences in the past. Several stores have moved their locations within the mall itself, and some have shit down completely. Security is present, especially on weekends. read more

The current anchors are Dillard's, JCPenney, Target and a flagship Belk. A streetscape of restaurants and specialty stores was recently developed across the entire front of the mall. Tenants on this streetscape include Texas de Brazil, Baumhower's Victory Grille and PF Chang's China Bistro. Grimaldi's Pizzeria was an inaugural restaurant here, but it folded a little less than a year after debuting. The interior mall tenant mix isn't that different than other mid scale regional centers. Bel Air features a bit more than a 100 stores throughout two main corridors. National retailers include H&M, Pandora, Express, American Eagle Outfitters, Bath and Body Works, Buckle and Aeropostale. Regional tenants include Shades and woman's wear retailer Korset. A food court hasn't been located in Bel Air since 1995. The mall does however feature eateries throughout the center. Restaurants include Mandarin Express, Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Chick-Fil-A, American Deli and Cinnabon. read more

I feel like the mall has a lot of potential if they just fixed it up and moved some things around. A lot of vacant spots and it's sad. Thankfully I only go for 3 to 4 different stores and I've had great costumer service in them. Yokai Den, Hot Topic, Rue 21, and Spencer's all make me feel welcome. The Vault and Pei Wei in the food court section always wave at me when I walk by and the staff all seem to be in a good mood. Love seeing their smiles read more

Depressing is all I can say. Especially during the Christmas Season. Dillards was Great but that's as far as it went. Belks is looking really worn and needs better merchandising. Visual also needs attention. JC Penny's looks like any day they are going to close. These are the Anchor stores!!Really, what has happened to to the Penny's? Heartbreaking! Shelves empty!!! The food court area, and I use that word loosely was busy but so much had changed and several businesses have closed. And please remove the advertisements through out the Mall of the large chain restaurants that have closed on the Airport Road side. I can easily say , I won't be back , and that a shame . This mall is undergoing a few renovations, but even with the renovations, it seems dated and unimpressive. It's a one story mall with nothing eye-catching like a fountain or carousel. It's Mobile's only mall, so I guess there is no real need to impress. I'm not much of a mall person anyway, but I do venture into this one occasionally. This mall has the typical mall-type stores like American Eagle, Hot Topic, Victoria's Secret, Versona, and the bigger corner stores like Belk and JC Penney. Of course there are a couple jewelry stores, hair salons and a food court. There's actually a post office in the mall that stays open a tad bit later than the other post offices. I will say the traffic lights around the parking lots are well planned, making it fairly easy to get in and out of the mall. read more

This was the only mall I can find in the area that wasn't an outlet. I didn't have a hard time finding parking near Dillard's. The mall is very small and has limited selection of stores. There is a Dillard's, Belk, JC penny, and target are the major ones. Then others are hot topic, Verona, Express, bath and body... I was really hungry and there's limited selection. PF Chang's, American Deli, a sports bar, and a potato stand near Cinnabon. Oh! I can't forget there's a small conveyor belt sushi spot in the middle. read more

probably one of the worst malls I've ever been to in my life. It's completely lifeless. It's boring and there aren't that many shops that I can shop at here. The food court is very bland as well. Coming here is kind of depressing. Sometimes I shop because I had a bad week and I need some lifting up,... this place just brought me back down. It's not the place for me. It's a mall! One of my least favorite places in the world... except for maybe my proctologist's office. Bell Air Mall has been around a long time and has had a considerable face lift over the years. There are a ton of cool and awesome businesses in there, but sometimes the crowdedness can be hard to deal with. As far as malls go Bell Air is fairly average with nothing exceptional to stand out. However, as I say that, there are some VERY cool restaurants that are attached to the mall. For that I've given an extra star. read more

Needed to get some SEC conference shirts for a dinner on Saturday. I happened to remember the store at Bel-Air mall that sold such items. We decided to go there after we got off. Got to the mall, and of course being Friday night the parking later was packed, we were able to find a handicapped accessible parking spot and parked in it. The last time we were there they had a pizza shop called Grimaldi's, it seems to have gone out of business and is being replaced by a Mexican restaurant. P.F. Changs is still there though. We went inside and found plenty of security and regular PD walking the mall. Found our store and did our shopping. While there we decided to.try some of the restaurants available. Ate dinner at the Mandarin Express, very good selection of items and decently priced. Then had a pretzel from Auntie Anne's, also very good. While eating we sat and people watched, neat thing to do, and noticed that between the time I grew up, the mall rat era where you were dropped off by parents and left to walk the mall for hours with friends, and now there are more families. That could be due to a change in policies, but it was nice to see parents in the mall with their kids. Then before we left we had dessert at the Cinnabon, had the 4 minis and a iced mocha coffee. They tasted great. Enjoyed our date night and seeing all the families and enjoyed all food places we chose to go. Will be back to enjoy them and have another mall date night. read more

The Bel Air Mall appears very big from the outside and has many shops inside. They have pretty much every shop you can think of but the food court is a bit small and gets over crowded. There is some great things for kids to do inside and plenty of restaurants to choose from on the outer sections of the mall. read more

They have updated everything. This mall is so modern now. It is one of the best looking malls Alabama has to offer. The security guards are so sweet and helpful. I enjoyed every second of shopping. read more

If I could give a negative score, then I would. My sons were harassed and intimidate this evemong by an armed Police Officer with a K9 and other Security Officers because of their race(black). My son and his friends were waiting for my husband and younger son to leave Lens Crafters. The Officer with the K9 felt it necessary to harrass them, ask for identification, then along with other Security officers tell them to leave because they are Black males. They were doing nothing wrong nor disturbing anyone. No young White males or females were harassed or intimidated while they shopped. read more

While it currently has some pockets of ghetto-ness and shoddy stores, Bel Air is a shopping mall in transition. Yes, Gap, Books-A-Million, Body Central and a handful of other retailers have shut their doors in the past year. However, there is a renovation and re-tenanting plan for the mall unfolding. Sears is making way for a new 230K square foot flagship Belk store. The entire front of the mall will be redeveloped into a new streetscape featuring PF Chang's, Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn. H&M is moving into a 15K square foot space next to Victoria's Secret. The Bel Air Mall of 2016 and beyond has me interested. read more

I despise this mall...at any given time it is FULL of people (more than teenagers) just hanging out in the middle of the mall, like where you walk. I know the local mall is always the place for kids to hang out, but I always thought that was for the food court & the movie theater...which this mall has neither. And there's been many occasions where I think I've walked between a drug deal. There's ALWAYS police officers at the entrance, which to me doesn't sound good. The only reason I continue going here is because there is a locally owned children's store that has hard to find shoes. read more

This is an okay shopping mall for Mobile. I wish it had other stores like JCrew, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Fossil, or Johnston Murphy. I like that there is a Books-A-Million, Dillard's, and Starbucks. There always seem to be security around, which is always good. The food court options only consist of Chic-fil-a and the Cinnabon shop. Is that really a food court? This mall needs an upgrade. read more

Bel Air Mall used to be a great place to shop and hang out but that was a long time ago! Nowadays it's dull and just plain boring. Some of my friends who worked at stores there over the years have always complained about the sky high rent. I'm pretty sure this is also the reason why few stores have endured there as well as why some shops can be so expensive. JC Penny's and Sears are about the only stores I know that have been there since the Bel Air opened in 1967. It used to have nice food court but some clown decided to close it down and build a Target there. Not impressed with Bel Air Mall's current condition! This place needs a major overhaul! read more

Growing up, it was the place to go... to shop, to buy your clothes, to gather with friends, etc. Today, it suffers from the same things that just about every indoor mall suffers from... security concerns, high rent, stores coming and going, etc. It's definitely not worse than comparable malls of its type, and still has several things to offer. read more

This mall was ok. Coming from a small town, they did have more stores than what I usually see. As other posters said, it is ghetto. The chain stores such as JC Penny had a great selection. After four continuous decades of operation, yes, Bel Air Mall is showing its age. However, unlike some other regional enclosed malls, Bel Air is still nearly fully leased and is still anchored by national and regional department stores. It has fended off a litany of competitors, while expanding and evolving somewhat with the times. Remember the old Springdale Mall or the frestanding Gayfers at Jubilee "mall"? There could be improvement among the anchors. Dillards could use further expansion of its handbag department. Belk needs to completely renovate its former Parisian building - I'm mean, it's not even oriented towars the mall corridor! JCPenney just underwent a rather substantial renovation and is fine. I'm waiting for Sears to shutter their store so it can be gutted for a new entertainment wing. When one storefront goes dark here, it's usually replaced with a higher quality store. Woolworth and its later progeny of Foot Locker store formats eventually gave way to a 26,000 square foot fashion showcase from XXI Forever. I wonder what will become of the former Abercrombie & Fitch store. I do wish blue collar South Alabama was able to attract more relatively upscale merchants like Brookstone and Aldo Shoes, but I'm content for now. This a very small mall and I'm not very impressed with it. The big building has a target, Mexican restaurant, belk, and jcpenney, which is not very impressive. But I realized that they had a "food court" on the other side, but they only have Cinnabon and chick-fil-a, seriously?!?! They have other restaurants but they are all spread out. I hope mobile has another mall because they can do better than that. read more
