Apparently before my time in Mobile, this was a dueling ground--kidding, kinda! I've heard tell that this was not the shopping mall you wanted to visit for a while. Now, I'm thinking that the increased Mobile PD presence and the lookout tower in the middle of the parking lot has changed that. I go to The Shoppes at Bel Air, and I see a tiny mall that has their main "mall bases" covered. There's Forever 21, H&M, Victoria's Secret, Dillards, there's Target-- I'm good! New restaurants have also been added so I found myself frequenting more often once I noticed they have a PF Chang's. I didn't notice until I saw the construction for the Texas de Brazil. See how that works! Build it, make it a safe space-- they will come, and for the long time locals, it's more like "They will come BACK!"

I wish this mall could keep and get better stores. It seems like this mall is on the rise but it could be better. It has VS, Jcpenny, Belk, Target, Dillard's. It has a chik filA and a sports bar called Baumhowers that's very good.

Charleys Philly Steaks, closure, dead retail space

The current anchors are Dillard's, JCPenney, Target and a flagship Belk. A streetscape of restaurants and specialty stores was recently developed across the entire front of the mall. Tenants on this streetscape include Texas de Brazil, Baumhower's Victory Grille and PF Chang's China Bistro. Grimaldi's Pizzeria was an inaugural restaurant here, but it folded a little less than a year after debuting. The interior mall tenant mix isn't that different than other mid scale regional centers. Bel Air features a bit more than a 100 stores throughout two main corridors. National retailers include H&M, Pandora, Express, American Eagle Outfitters, Bath and Body Works, Buckle and Aeropostale. Regional tenants include Shades and woman's wear retailer Korset. A food court hasn't been located in Bel Air since 1995. The mall does however feature eateries throughout the center. Restaurants include Mandarin Express, Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Chick-Fil-A, American Deli and Cinnabon.

Located just off I-85 in Saraland, this shopping center ended up being exactly what we needed on a…read morelong travel day, the kind of place where you can pull in, take a breath, and handle both dinner and the next morning's start without ever feeling rushed. Our evening stop was Cracker Barrel, which delivered the usual comfort meal before we settled in for the night in the campervan. The parking lot felt calm and open enough that we could wind down without any fuss, and by morning we were able to swing over to Publix for a few breakfast items that toasted up nicely in the van as we headed toward the next stretch of highway. What makes Saraland Crossings work is how much else is tucked into the same footprint. You've got Mugshots for burgers, fast food for both pizza and subs if you want something quick, the Peach Cobbler Factory for a sweet detour, tacos for a different mood entirely, and a mix of everyday services like a hair salon, dentistry, and even a large medical plaza that anchors the far side of the center. It's one of those places where you can tell the community uses it for more than errands, because the storefronts feel active without being chaotic, and the parking lot has that steady, lived-in rhythm that makes travel stops feel easier. Getting in and out is simple, with wide entrances and exits that connect cleanly to the main road, and the whole layout is straightforward enough that you don't have to loop around or fight for a spot. For an overnight pause between destinations, it checked every box: food, groceries, a quiet place to park, and a surprising number of options if you wanted to linger a little longer. Is it the best location, uh, no but the helpful and friendly staff make up for any short comings. Shop the SALES and you will save big $. If you have a Dillard's card then add another huge % off. I love shoes, so I have gotten to know some of the staff in that department. They are also helpful, although over zealous at times!!! LOL! The handbag department is decent and I have found some great bags from there. It is definitely worth checking out if you are in town. I like that they have a MAC store within a store at this location!

Wednesday at 11AM. What a sincere dissapointment visiting this store. The one shining star (only…read moreone) was Kayley in the 2nd floor small appliance area. She greeted us when we arrived in her section, asked if she could help, helped us checkout and was converstional and friendly. I told her she was the first person in the store to utter a single word to us despite us visiting sunglasses, perfume, clothing and bedding areas prior to reaching her area. We encountered many employees that looked down while we were in talking distance. Why are stores like this dissapearing, hmm, look no further than what we experienced here. Shameful, since we can buy this on the internet. Today we purchased a Cuisinart toaster, that did not work when we got home. We packed it back up amd came back to the store and assumed we would go to customer service to return the toaster, nope. Apparently, customer service does not do returns, maybe this department should be named something else. After waiting for the person in the back room packing something who is clearly not paying any attention or aware of us waiting at the counter in customer service. When she finally looked at the counter, she came to help us, another girl showed up and said you have to go back to where you bought this, I explained be bought it here at Dillards. No, you need to go back to the department. Good grief. So we went back to the department where Kayley was still smiling, she gladly helped us again. In Georgia, this was my go to store for many things throughout the year. I will buy from the internet rather than come back in this store again. Why bother to have a store with so many workers if you can only point to one shining star. The mall has many empty stores, wonder why? Look no further than Dillard's to get the answer. Malls are over. I never need something today, I can wait if this is the level of service I receive.

The store is still restocking after being closed for a period of time because covid-19 pandemic. Hey, don't let that stop you from just dropping by and browsing the holidays are coming. I decided to pop in to pick up some items for Fall like cozy robe, active wear and lingerie. I found everything I was looking for and at a great price. It's great to see that they are using CDC guidelines to keep customers and employees safe, allowing us to enjoy our shopping experience. They wash the baskets in between customers, have social distancing markers on the floors and they have converted the aisles to One way. All the employees are wearing masks and the line moves a little slow because of social distancing. They don't have as many registers open but check out those cute coffee cups and did you see that popcorn? The store is in a great location. There's plenty of parking. I see the reviews about customer service but I never have a problem, everybody's super friendly and very patient. Besides I'm in a good mood because I don't have to pay full price.

So TJMaxx usually gives me some of what I'm looking for on any given day. This location is consistent with the others in cleanliness, organization, and selection. At this location, I'm usually happy with the finds, but cringing when I see the lines -- ooh, that rhymed! I find that I have to strategically plan my visits to avoid the wait. Their cashiers are pretty sloooooow. Thankfully, I found out about the hack of checking out through layaway in the back around the holidays-- clutch!
