Ordered a shot of casamigos, got a shot poured out of a casamigos bottle, but it was definitely not actually casamigos. it tasted 100% like well tequila but got charged full price. when we got home we tried some actual casamigos and it wasn't even comparable. Disappointed for sure. It's a great neighborhood bar and didn't expect to get ripped off like that at 8pm on a Friday. Come on Showdown, do better. read more

Amazing place to grab food and drinks at their outdoor dining seating! I came here on a Saturday night with some friends. They have two separate outdoor dining seating, one area with tables and the other that's similar to bar seating. The seating is a first come first serve situation, and you order your food and drinks inside, and wait outside for your name to be called at the window. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, and even though it was my first time, they made an effort to remember my name and drink order! The food is also super good too, and it's just an overall great experience. When I came around 6pm, getting a table wasn't too difficult, but it can get busy towards the end of the night. Highly recommend this place if you want to enjoy the outdoor dining scene with a great atmosphere in the North Beach area! read more

It's fine, loud - not too comfortable for talking with friends, service is hit and miss. Did have some nice chicharrones and the beer list is interesting. It's a mixed bag. This place is a breath of fresh air in North Beach. You HAVE to check this spot out. The best neighborhood spot for great food and drinks but most importantly, the service here is PHENOMINAL! Used to visit Tamarind (former establishment) once in a while. Decided to check this out because Chubby Noodle was closed last night. It was 8pm, the place had a decent number of patrons, but I'd not call it, "packed!" They seem to have retained some items from the old menu, like the "drunken noodles". I ordered two items at around 8pm when my buddy went to go grab us two beers. I got a buzzer with the #9 on it after ordering the fried chicken sandwich with fried potatoes and the drunken noodles. We chatted for a good while, about halfway through our beers (40 minutes in), before he began to wonder aloud, "where's our food??" I proceeded back to the counter where the order was place, but no one to be found. I slid left to peer into the kitchen -- empty. What? I resorted to go back to the bar and flagged down one of the bartenders that was super nice. He quickly gathered himself and headed straight to the kitchen. He noticed that no one was there, found my order, talked to one of the employees, and came back out to provide me an update -- the system had an issue (I don't know whether to believe it or not), but, " they're firing it up right now!", he said. He asked if he could give me some beers or something else as an apology. I politely declined. He insisted once more, but again, I declined (we were still trying to finish our current beers because we'd gone to two other bars prior and were just hungry). The buzzer finally rattled after about ten minutes, and I go to retrieve my order and noticed the same guy that took our order was packing the food. He didn't notice anything amiss at all. I was expecting an apology of some sort. There was none to be had, and I even thanked him, being the polite person that I am. We took the food back to my buddy's place and couldn't wait to indulge. There wouldn't be this review if it turned out to be halfway decent... My friend cut the chicken sandwich in half -- it looked good, but that was until we both had taken our first bite. "Wow!!! It's so salty!!!" We couldn't eat it. I can smell the noodles, so I just pop open the tiny box that it came in and gathered some onto my plate. I quickly take a bite and get smacked by the ocean! Okay, maybe not quite as bad (but terrible), but I don't know what the hell happened here. Did we not get the memo for the sodium party in the kitchen? The order didn't feel rushed. My friend's girlfriend ended up frying some eggrolls for us that were night and day compared to what we had ingested moments earlier. We ended up having to toss the food and it wasn't cheap -- it amounted to just under $40 for the two orders after taxes. I won't be coming back here again. Lastly, I wish I had taken a photo of the potatoes -- crispy, but I know old/unchanged oil when I see it (dark/brownish tinge/residue on them). Thanks for that bartender for being an upstanding guy, but I feel like I just paid for a parking ticket. Somebody should've noticed an unaddressed buzzer and buzzed me to provide me an update and at least deliver halfway decent food for a patron that's waited so long. read more

Omg ! We finally made it for all the delicious vegan options they offer and WOOOOO! SO DELICIOUS. me and my honey were so happy it was late serving and we came with a non vegan and he also had the mushroom sandwich that was unreal . So good. we also had a salad that was fuego and was able to me made vegan without El queso. Overall delicious food , great ambiance & cute bartenders!!! Ty!!! read more

Kevin and Cheslea the bartenders were super amazing and had us cracking up all night, I highly recommend asking for him if he's there. Entire restaurant was super clean with TVs and a pool table. Pantera burguer, shrimps or even the falafel wrap are all delicious, bartenders are always polite and make really good drinks. One of the few places left in the city that provides a reasonable pricing with great food, drinks and service. read more

The showdown has the same owners as tempest in soma. They have the same great food and great shot and beer drink specials. The ambience is fantastic. I live three blocks from the bar and will probably become a regular. Great bar all around. read more

This is objectively a good bar. Any place where I can get a pint of a great lager (Founders Solid Gold) and a shot of Bulleit for $9 automatically gets 5 stars. That's not even factoring in the food menu which has an incredible burger and schnitzel sandwich. read more

I went for the SF Giants playoff game. The place was packed and the bartenders did a great job of making it fun while also serving quickly. The selection of beer and spirits is fantastic. We ordered some appetizers and they came out quicker than anyone has a right to expect, and they were good. My only concern is having to place my food order at the bar, and also picking it up there. The place was packed, and it was a challenge to wade through the crowd twice. Hopefully they can improve upon that system. read more
