This is a must try spot when visiting Savannah! This was my first dining experience upon visiting the city. I ordered a Shrimp Po Boy, and boy are they known for their Po Boys!!!! The ambiance is lively and upbeat, and my waitress also delivered immaculate service. Now onto the po boy, lawd have mercy!!! They put their foot in it when it came to both the flavor and the seasoning!!! Fried to perfection, tossed the romoulaude sauce on it & it was an entire new dimension of flavor unlocked. I read about this place through Yelp and while walking on East River Street we walked in, no reservations. We were seated right away. We ordered calamari for starters but the batter was way salty. A dozen oysters which tasted like ocean (from Virginia we were told) and the fried seafood platter ($36) but easily fed 2 or 3. I loved the flounder and the fries were hot and crisp...it also included a dozen fried shrimp, hush puppies, fried oysters (6) stuffed clam and creamy cole slaw. Yes it is the tourist section on River Street but the staff handled it well had groups from 2 to 17. Only warning is that the bathrooms have steps inside so you need to be safe in there. Was a cut little place on the river ! Thats the best thing i can say . While visiting Savanah for Theodorable Birthday . We didn't wanna go to Ruth Chris since we have them in Tampa let's do something different ! But the real kicker was the stuffed fresh flounder (speciality) 2 huge mounds of breading very little fishy tasting crab meat and only one of these mounds had a thin strip of flounder on top about 3 oz of fish . Asked server /Bartender . Who did not care about food more interested in slinging drinks !! Deer in headlights run get manager . Asked her if this how it always comes out . Manager was Deer in headlights and got hit on side of road reaction . She looked at me and studderd some excuse . And walked away . No sorry or even that's the way it comes . There are some good restaurants in Savannah Old Pink House . And hate to say it hit the Chains Ruth Chris .. 90% of restaurants in downtown Savanah is about the drinks and not good quality menue ingredients . Was great going to Savanah . I can't believe I've never been here before as many times as I've been to Savannah. I've walked up and down that street so many times I was definitely craving seafood and I was in for quite the surprise this evening on their menu. They had this pine bark stew. I've never seen that before, and based on the description of it, having fish, scallops, shrimp, potatoes, and more inside of it I knew I had to have it. It came out hot in a cast-iron mini pot along with a garlic bread loaf and this was some good eating. The server was very fun and lighthearted. We enjoyed our experience. Visiting Savannah for a few days. First stop some seafood. Although we noticed the 3.1 reviews for this place, we opted to give it a chance; glad we did. Food was great & the young man who attends the bar was amazingly friendly & suggested the food we had. The fried seafood basket was very tasty. The items were lightly battered, very crispy & well seasoned. Our daughter had the peel and eat shrimp. Not one shrimp left on that plate (tasty) with a hit of Cajun seasoning. All good size portions. I opted for the seared shrimp and grits. If you're a fan of grits and like shrimp, I highly recommend. The grits were buttery and mega tasty as they add wine sauce. I was in Savannah for a 5 day stay and I had yet to eat any seafood on my 4th day. My family does not like seafood and it's more of a sacrifice for me to ensure they get to eat what they want. But when they had an early dinner at McDonald's from a long day at the beach, I took the opportunity to head to closest seafood restaurant that had a good menu. My criteria was that I wanted to avoid any heavily fried foods. I made a decision to go to The Shrimp Factory and I left full. Shout-out to my waitress, Taylor, who gave me great recommendations. She said she wasn't a fan of seafood but she has heard feedback from her customers and recommended items that were popular. I settled on the oysters rockefeller, a single low country crab cake, and the shrimp and grits. The oysters were fantastic. Plump oysters topped with bacon, spinach, and Parmesan cheese; it was a symphony of flavors in my mouth. The low country crab cake was lightly breaded, chock full of blue crab meat. Most crab cakes I've had skimped out on the meat and had a bunch of filler. But not this one, you could see ample threads of blue crab meat, seasoned in the seared cake. The shrimp and grits is also recommended. A giant bowl of grits, drowned in garlic butter, topped with nice chunks of seasoned shrimp, ham, and green onions. This was actually my first time having shrimp and grits and I was told by Taylor people usually put hot sauce on top. It's now one of my new favorite dishes! We stopped at Shrimp Factory for lunch because it was close to where our ACL cruise was docked. We had the shrimp tacos, but requested fried shrimp tacos and they said they could do them that way. They were some of the best fried shrimp we have had and we live on the Gulf Coast and eat shrimp often. The food and drinks were very good, everything came out hot and when a slight mistake was made on our order they quickly took care of it and made it right. My bf got the raw oysters and I got oyster Rockefeller. They said the oysters came from Chesapeake so they were a pretty good size. These were so good. Saltiness from the bacon, creamy, spinach added a nice flavor. It was the perfect bite. I gave it 4 stars because the staff was a tad unprofessional. The service wast top notch. The hostess greeted us and immediately seated my wife and I at a table with a great view of the River Walk. Our server, Kalea, was awesome and made us feel welcomed. She allowed us to take our time ordering and made suggestions on the food we should choose for dinner. I ended up getting the fried fish meal and my wife got the shrimp burger. The coleslaw was good and wasn't watered down. The red rice wasn't too spicy and paired well with the hush puppies, shrimp and flounder. The fish and shrimp were cooked to perfection and the cocktail and tartar sauce was included on the plate. I only had to ask for hot sauce. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. Great look, feel, and ambiance throughout the whole restaurant and everything but the best thing was the food. I couldn't decide what to get so I ordered the Shrimp Fry and it was so good. Fries, coleslaw and hushpuppies too. My brother ordered the Low Country Boil and everything was seasoned so well. I am not a grits fan but since it smelled so good, I had to take a bite. Lively place in a rustic setting with friendly staff. We made reservations but stopped by around 4:15 to see if we could go ahead and dine and cancel the 5:30. They were fine with that as there were several open tables at that time. We ordered appetizers of fried green tomatoes which was crispy and delicious as was the fresh side salad with a delightful raspberry vinaigrette. My main was the Shrimp and Sausage Creole. It was decadent and so tasty! My husband ordered Mac and Cheese (cheesy and creamy), and Shrimp and Crab Bisque which was extremely salty, fishy and off putting. I can usually eat anything but even I couldn't eat it. When the waitress checked on us and noticed the uneaten bisque she asked about it and my husband explained he couldn't eat it. To her credit, it was quietly taken off the bill. We still tipped her what the bill would have been as it's not her fault. We waited around 40-45 minutes before our salad and appetizer arrived. By then it was around 5:00 and getting pretty busy quickly. At least three tables were seated well after us and were already dining. We finally flagged our waitress to check on our orders. My only guess is it may have been lost in the shuffle. In all it was hit or miss on the food and 45 minute wait for appetizers. I'm not saying don't go here as everything except the bisque was delicious. The unnecessarily long wait time may have been a fluke as everyone else was getting their orders in a more timely manner. My partner and I went for lunch and ordered the Shrimp & Crab bisque, along with the fried green tomatoes. Both dishes were very delicious and felt like Southern comfort food. Our server was extremely kind and attentive. We just finished getting off a cold boat ride and were so grateful when we were seated in a toasty spot, after expressing how freezing we were.
