We had been to a couple of silent discos in the past and I thought it would be fun for our friends. I wish I could give them 10 stars because they deserve it! I cannot say enough good things about The Silent DJ. We've seen them perform a few times at Segerstrom Plaza, so we were eager to hire them. We had Marty and Eddie for my husband's and my joint 50th birthday party and it was one of the best nights we've ever had and they played a huge role in how well the night turned out. Not only was Marty kind, warm, fun, attentive and communicative in person on the party-night but his emails and texts were the same way through the whole process. They were on time (early I think!) and everything went very smoothly, and equipment was perfect and felt brand new. The music was amazing, never a dull moment. They wrangled the crowd like I've never seen anyone do, they really know how to get everyone involved, engaged, energized, excited and dancing! I always have fun when there's a silent disco! The LA County fair has this this year and it has been super fun every time that I've gone! The process is easy, you trade your ID for a little card and headphones and then you go dance! Depending on the event and night the amount of Dj's differs. The headphones can switch between three Djs and you can control the volume yourself. Silent discos are always just because nobody cares how you are dancing, and you can all be dancing to different things together. The Djs are able to talk to you through their mic too which is fun. Not only were the guys incredibly nice and professional (quick email and phone responses, on time, and organized), they were PERFECT for junior high! Marty is the BEST!! My husband and I booked his services for our wedding reception a few nights ago and had an amazing experience from the initial call to discuss our music choices and schedule all the way to the night of the event. Beforehand, I was nervous about the different transitions that go along with a wedding reception, but he made everything feel absolutely seamless! I also want to address the negative review posted recently stating that Marty said my name wrong. Yes, he did say my name wrong at times but the only reason why I didn't personally correct him was that I really did not care lol. I'm aware that my name is a little different and is a variation of a common name. It was an honest mistake, he called me to sincerely apologize, and I should have corrected him purely to not cause embarrassment. I should have known that other people may take offense on my behalf. As far as the other reviewer's opinion that "the music sucked", well, you can't please everyone. We tried to have a variation of music that both younger and older generations would like (maybe they didn't like funkier jams toward the end). Anyway, so many friends and family came up to us after saying it was such a fun night and that Marty has the best energy (which is true). You can tell he loves his job and he's great at it! After reading Jen C's 1-star negative review here of The Silent DJ and Marty Glassman I felt compelled to comment - you see, I am the person she is referring to! Marty has been my DJ of choice for years having DJ'd my wedding in Santa Barbara in 2011, and numerous family events. I was in Mammoth and saw one of his earliest shows with The Silent DJ - I thought it was a brilliant idea and hired him with one of his guys (Max?) to DJ my wife's birthday in March. It was a smashing success, and our friends are still talking about how much fun, and what a unique experience it was. If you follow my Yelp! reviews you will see I only Yelp when something is truly great, or truly horrible.. and The Silent DJ is truly great. I should have reviewed them here sooner, but realized I needed to speak up after seeing Jen C's review. The Silent DJ concept is still pretty new; Marty called me and asked if he could use me as a reference for a potential client who wanted to talk to someone for a similar event to my wife's birthday, and of course I agreed. I asked him to text over the details so I could respond to his client. Wires were crossed and Jen C (the prospective client) received the text intended for me, but rather than forgive Mr. Glassman when he explained, she proceeded to scold him, and left a 1-star negative review calling him a con man and saying she expected him to take her money and run... REALLY lady??!! She based her entire review on a mis-sent text, having never done business with, nor seen him in action. And she never contacted me to see if I am for real. Marty has had a successful, conventional DJ business for 25+ years and has been voted #1 DJ in his area several years running. His new Silent DJ company is as professional and entertaining as his original business, more in fact, and I have experienced both. I have just booked The silent DJ for my fourth party. They have to be good if you try and plan your party around your DJ. I have an annual party at the end of the summer and he has been my go to DJ for the last four years. People rave about him during the party and talk about him for months after the party. He is very easy to work with and communicates any concerns that I might have prior to the to the event. Both Marty and Adam they have rocked my party nonstop from start to finish. It means something when people talk about your party for months after and other people want to make sure they get an invite for the next party. We had the police show up at one of our parties because there was a complaint that it was too loud. But to my surprise Marty pulled out his headphones and started handing them out to everyone in the party and we continued to rock on. Even after he handed out the headphones the police hung around for another 10 minutes just to watch the action they thought it was pretty cool. All I can say is if you're looking to have a DJ to guarantee that your party is a complete and total success the silent DJ is the DJ to hire. Too bad for Jen C. She will never get to truly experience a one-of-a-kind DJ. Looking forward to having The Silent DJ in my backyard once again in August 2018. You just can't go wrong with these guys.
