Instead, I took the opportunity to use the spot as my third office of the day as there was very cool cellular coverage. After some emails, I did some walking along the trail to clear my head. The park is built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad. It turns out that it's the longest developed rail-trail in the country at 240 miles long with 26 trailheads and four fully restored railroad depots along the way. This spot in North Jefferson City / Holts Summit has the restored railroad depot with a public toilet. Lots of nature, lots of recreation and lots of opportunity to get away from too much of it all. Parking here is a dirt lot and there are a couple of picnic tables and some shade. A large structure with trail information and sights is here. We love exploring the Devil's Icebox Cave and the Sinkhole short trail. There are parts on the trail that are easily accessible by following the wood-planked walkway, but there are also "off the beaten path" trails and spots to ride your bike. Rock Bridge State Park is absolutely beautiful and is a "Must Visit" outdoor spot in Columbia, MO!

I worked up my nerve and went into the store and asked if they would help me. A super nice young guy said he would be glad to help. He put air in the first tire and showed me exactly how to do it, and then he watched me put air in the second one to make sure I really knew how. He was so kind and didn't make me feel stupid. I should've gotten his name, but I just wasn't thinking. He even offered to help me load my bike back in the car. What a great store with awesome merchandise and wonderful employees! This is certainly not the first time I've been treated extremely well here.

He brought it to their outdoor tent (not allowing people inside due to COVID). They called with a quote and finished the job the same day. I knew it was going to be a big lift for the employees, so I was astounded by the turnaround time. Definitely recommend them to everyone else for any bike repairs.

However, it is steep and narrow in places and you do go down quite a distance to the creek and you have to ascend back to the parking lot. It might be too much if you're not sure-footed. There no bathroom facilities, (at least in April) so stop at the gas station a few miles before. The bridge itself is large and we were able to walk under it to the other side. The creek was very low while we were there. The water was very clear, you could easily see the bottom of the river bed. Since the creek was low, there was a lot of exposed river rock that the kids thoroughly enjoyed picking up and throwing into the water. They had a fantastic time and slept all the way back home in the car.

The pinnacles are a jagged-pointy rock formation that stands about 75 feet high and stretches about…read more1000 feet long. Bordered on one side by Kelley Creek and on another by Silver Fork Creek, the two streams have been slowly pinching the mass of Burlington limestone separating them, a highly reactive stone that's dissolved by moving water. Some parts of the stone were even carved out entirely, creating little tunnel-like windows dotting the vertical rock face. From the parking area, it is a short walk past picnic shelters and some benches down to the water's edge where you can wade across or just look up at the amazing rock structures. There are hiking trails throughout the park and I saw a number of folks walking, some with dogs. I read that there's a good amount of poison ivy along the trails, so I didn't take a chance. Also, some of the walking looked uneven and following the usual rule of "Never hike alone" I decided not to risk a twisted ankle with no help.
