A couple days later my house started beeping and I could not figure out why so of course I contacted Dan thinking it might be our smoke detectors. Home owners, please use this company for your smoke detector needs. You won't regret it. Dan the owner is the most amazing guy I've ever hired for a job. He responded really quickly and actually ended up giving me the best and lowest quote . He arrived right on time and did a phenomenal job. But here's where he separates himself from the rest. He noticed that one of the smoke detectors had been moved by a handyman in a previous job I did to install crown moldings. He advised me that it will be prudent to hire an electrician to relocate that detector, because he was worried the new location may hinder the proper function of the detector. I said ok , payed him and he left. 2 days later on Saturday, Dan called me. He said, I've been thinking about that one detector I told you about. It worried me, so I talked to an electrician friend of mine, and he showed me what to do, so I will like to come back next week and fix it for you at no additional charge!!!. My jaws dropped. My smoke alarms would go off randomly and would drive my neighbors and I absolutely crazy! Dan responded to my online inquiry within 24 hours and scheduled my service for the next day. When he arrived he inspected each alarm, found the issues, replaced them, and vacuumed the area around each smoke alarm. Did you know it's recommended that you replace the fire alarms/smoke detectors in your house every 10 years? I know this now because I was rudely awakened yesterday morning at 4:45 a.m. by all the fire alarms going off in my house. As I frantically jumped out of bed and ran around the house trying to figure out why, I came up empty. Thankfully, no fire but then I got annoyed because I couldn't get them to shut off! I had to completely disconnect two of the alarms from the hard wire before my ears could recover peacefully in silence! After lots of research on the internet as to how to rectify the issue, I found out every 10 years they should be completely replaced! Every 10 years and I'd been living here for 12 and the house was more than 20 years old now! Yikes! I thought, maybe I should just pay someone to replace them all for me so I know it's done right and I don't have to hassle with it! Fortunately, in my search, I found a local company and read several outstanding reviews so I took a leap of faith and called "The Smoke Detector Man". He gave me pricing over the phone and was willing to come out that same day, if desired. I opted for the next morning and feel so relieved that I'm fire safe again (I had a nightmare that night about my house catching fire)! Dan is a great guy with hands on experience working for the fire department and has this business to help others stay fire safe. If you want to know how old your fire alarms are, disconnect them and look for the code on the back. Mine were all 5 digits starting with 94 which meant they were manufactured in 1994! I feel so strongly about the quality of service I received and helping others stay fire safe that I'm letting you know if you want to consider having this done then call The Smoke Detector Man. He was in and out in about 1.5 hours for 9 smoke detectors, education of how they work and how to keep them dust/bug free to avoid false alarms. His prices are considerably less than what an electrician or security company will charge and his service is beyond outstanding! read more
