Ordered a single scoop on a sugar cone. Was given half of one scoop and asked "is that enough?" and when I asked for a full scoop he said "well this ice cream is just hard to scoop so." The ice cream itself was icy. There was also a hair imbedded in between the scoops. Ordered an ultimate cookie shake which is $15. It tasted like aluminum / metal / electrical smoke. I had to throw it out it was so bad. They also didn't have all the toppings that were supposed to go on it. I never leave reviews for anything - this was just so bad. Leaving a poor review due to poor ownership/management practices. Twice now, these poor employees have been stuck alone making both ice cream AND food (sandwiches etc) which is way too much for a single employee to manage. If you only have one employee, you need to shut down the kitchen or vice vera. This gal had a great attitude about the situation and was hustling to put out orders as quickly as possible. She was outstanding and our ice cream/shakes were amazing but I can't help but feel bad for these workers during to bad management. read more

A cute local business connected to the Kanab Pharmacy. The menu is versatile with ice cream, paninis, pizzas, Italian sodas and much more! We loved the "Southern lady" Italian soda mix, with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. It was the perfect sweet treat after our long day of hiking. Their Italian sodas use a Soda Base (sprite/Dr P, root beer, etc), then varieties of flavored syrups (they have A LOT OF OPTIONS!) Southern Lady was Dr Pepper, peach & vanilla syrup. Truly THE BEST! We got it both days we were in Kanab. We also tried the salted caramel ice cream, which was super delicious too. The ice cream shop is adorable the store itself is pretty and inviting. I love browsing the gift shop- so many beautiful and unique items for sale. The lunch counter used to be as good an experience - I'd be greeted warmly, served with a smile and the food looked and tasted fresh. None of that exists any longer. No warm greeting in fact not even an initial acknowledgement that I'm even standing there. No smiles - all business. The soup seems to be getting thicker with each visit and it has less flavor. The pizza crust is tough. I brought my side salad back to the kitchen saying I didn't want a refund I just wanted them to know the tomatoes were mushy and the lettuce did not seem fresh. A staff member brought me out $6 and change, which was nice but she snapped at me at the same time saying, "I don't know what's wrong with our romaine lettuce, there's nothing wrong with our lettuce." As noted by my grandson she was being anything but nice in her manner. I will gladly remove this review- once it's been seen by The Soda Fountain people. read more

This shop is cute and the employees working there were trying very hard to serve everyone quickly even though they were super busy! The reason for only 3 stars is because of the cost-benefit ratio for vegan icecream. The vegan ice cream is MUCH more expensive than the regular icecream. I think $1-2 extra dollars for the vegan ice cream would be reasonable, but for 1 scoop it costs $8 whereas the regular icecream costs $3.50. That's pretty crazy! However, I believe it might be the only place in Kanab serving vegan ice cream so if you're REALLY craving some, this place has it. Also, they have multiple vegan flavors. I think when I went there were at least four: mint chip, chocolate truffle, and i can't remember the others. My husband ordered the normal vanilla bean icecream in a cookie monster sundae and he really liked it. read more

Thee absolute cutest ice cream shop! We were staying at the RV Corral down the street and I craved something sweet and stumbled upon this. We went and it's a drugstore and ice cream shop :) they have a spacious outdoor patio with perfect seating. I ordered the Kanab Classic Panini. The ingredients included grilled chicken, bacon, onion and provolone on a ciabatta. Well just imagine the worlds thinnest piece of chicken in the sandwich. It might as well been deli sliced. The lack of filling was really a let down. It almost felt as if you're just eating panini pressed bread. Along with the sandwich I had ordered the chicken noodle soup. Well this wasn't any better than the sandwich. I think it had been sitting in the heated pot for way too long. I felt as if there was so much salt added as well. I really had to gulp the water down after a bite of it. The service was friendly but their operations felt very unorganized. Epic fail, and MAJOR HEALTH VIOLATIONS!! I own a bakery; I have a bit of an idea of what food service workers are supposed to do, and what they're not supposed to do. Hold on to your hat... In the midst of a pandemic especially, AVOID this place. Two young teen girls working. The one at the ice cream counter didn't look up when we came in. To get her attention, I smiled (masked) and said hi. She looked up and walked over to us. I ordered a smoothie and two ice cream cones. The first ice cream cone was scooped. The ice cream was barely over the edge of the cone; you couldn't even call it a scoop. She handed it to me, and I said, surprised, "wow, this is a $4 scoop?!" "Oh, I can add more if you want," she replied. Um, yes please! She scooped the second, and that was a bit more generous. Here's where it gets dicey. Normally you cannot accept something likes cone back from the customer. She should have just remade it, or given an additional scoop in a cup. I didn't want to be a pain, so I wrapped the cone in a napkin and handed it back to her. She topped it off, ok, fine. Then she walked off! Nothing said to me, no smoothie update. So I followed her into the sandwich side to see if the smoothie would be made over there. Another girl was making sandwiches. They switched. The first girl DID NOT WASH HER HANDS (even after accepting a cone back that I had touched too) and started making the sandwiches and the second girl went back to the ice cream counter (no hand washing between) and started doing drinks and working the register. I saw her start to add syrup to a smoothie type cup, so I asked about that (I didn't want syrup), and then she looked up and said "oh, I'll get to yours after this." That order had started after I came in. Perhaps it was a call in, which is fine, but give your customer (ME!) some communication! Nada. Now I've been observing much more closely, and the first girl, now making sandwiches, has yet to wash (well, neither one did once the entire timeI was in there), and she had touched her mask and hair 12 times! While gloved. Ewwww. The second girl finally gets a cup out to make my smoothie, and it turned out that they were out of pineapple. She asked me what I'd like to do, and at this point I want nothing they've touched; I've totally lost my appetite, and my desire to ever buy anything there again, EVER. I was able to get a refund for my drink. Also, they're using styrofoam containers, and I don't typically support places that do. There are so many other more eco friendly options. The health violations, the lack of hand washing, and especially in the midst of a COVID-19 world...yikes. Stay far, far away. I wish I'd taken a pic of the cone. Lol. Unfortunately, I had my daughter take the ice cream outside while I was standing there forever, witnessing the afore mentioned debacle. Horrible customer service. Definitely a must see if in the area! It is attached to a drug store and you also must check it out too, there are so many cool things (some related to the area & others not). I dare you to walk out without buying something, I ended up with some stickers a shirt & a pen. Now back to the sweets...I ordered a "candy land ice cream" & "southern lady soda". The ice cream was a good size, I actually told them to only give me 1 scoop instead of 2- it was all the memories of childhood in a cup- so good & a rare treat. Sine I was there I had to try a soda that I read so much about- I ended up choosing the "southern lady" because I'm from the south & because I had read up a little on it. It was so good with the tiny balls of ice (this just makes any drink better)! It was a little on the sweet side but that in my humble opinion is to be expected. The icing on the cake was they gave you a cool color changing straw & spoon- these little touches make it even more special- not to mention the service was excellent (I had a few I'm sure annoying requests, but they didn't blink an eye (or give me an odd look).
