Uh....no.............. :( My husband and I really wanted to like this place. But we left disappointed. First off, this place has a wait staff that will bring you your food even though you have to place your order at the counter. That is fine. However they have decided that people can get their own water but if you would like anything else they will bring it. It use to not bother me in the past but the Mr pointed out that he never understands the mentality of "doing things half assed" or as most would gently put it as doing things half heartedly. :) Why have people bring stuff to the table but only "some" things. Now granted this place is really cute and looks like a full serviced restaurant- but kind of operates more like a Corner Bakery. We weren't expecting that. The food.....oh the food..... I will just say that my turkey wrap was okay but I'm not keen on the actual wrap which was GF. This was my second time eating a GF wrap (first time was many moons ago at a different place) and I really wish they would have given patrons an option to opt out of the GF wrap. No offense those who likes it, but from the look to the taste and the texture of the wrap - it's like stale tortilla wrap. No bueno. :( They have coconut on the menu- when I saw it I was very excited because I LOVE drinking coconut (especially if it's still in its shell and they serve it with a straw). It's very refreshing and very good for you. THIS place totally seems like the kind of place that would serve coconut straight up like that. But no.....what they told me they do is they squeeze the milk from the white parts of the coconut- therefore it's not sweet at all and very rich. I wonder what they do with the actual coconut juice? I just opted for a plain water which I had to fight through the crowd from my seat to get myself (or rather the Mr had to for me). I have been going consistently to this cafe and tried new items on the menu. I have to say their bowls are to die for. Their mango bowl is just pure perfection; the temperature, the texture, the flavor and all healthy content! If I could sum up this place in one word: HEALTHY. Small and cute brunch/lunch spot in Hermosa Beach. It was super packed even for a Tuesday mid-morning. My husband and I barely got seats at the outdoor patio bar. I tried a Coconut Smoothie and it came in a cute glass jar. Freshly made, had crushed almonds in it, and the flavor was pretty good, but I wished it was a little colder... it was a little lukewarm for my liking. I also got a Burrata Panini which was delicious! Loved the super soft burrata, fresh tomatoes, and pesto. The bread was a little rough and cut the roof of my mouth but I liked how crunchy it was. A lot of different options, from really good smoothie bowls (I love the green smoothie bowl), salads (quinoa bowl and power are really good), Panini's, and tons of options on sweets if you're looking for that. For the most part I've always enjoyed what I've eaten here. But I will say this place has become increasingly expensive and every time I order I'm pretty surprised how much I'm forking over. But here I could care less, as the food is really really good, and the vibe is more modern and polished than Earthy. Between the super-flavorful faro salad, burrata panini, amazing desserts, coffees and juices, I can say I would rather eat here than many other places in LA--whether it's good for me or not. Granted, this sort of place attracts a decidedly Lululemon local crowd. But that's not a dig--these upscale body conscious people are a good divining rod for finding food done right. No view of the ocean but not a bad place to kick back. The food here is pretty good and unique in its presentation and flavorings. The lattes are just lattes but they're not bad. One of the fun things that they do is that they serve their smoothies in glass bottles. I always hear people asking... So, to answer, yes, you can take them with you if you don't finish. If you bring the jaw back latter they will give you a small refund. Overall, one of the more interesting places in Hermosa. read more

We paid for parking (hard to get street parking in these narrow streets) and waltzed in and immediately felt zen in their minimalist and organic space. I think the owner or manager of that day was Ellen. She was SUCH a sweetie. Ellen, you didn't know it, but you totally impressed me with your customer service skills. Their store welcomes FiveStar card holders, but I didn't have my card on me. After trying a couple of telephone numbers to no avail, she told me to come back again and tell whoever was working that Ellen told me I could put 2 points in my card account. What a beaut, thanks girl...but little did you know that I'm actually from out of town! Your good karma will take you far! I enjoyed a ginger and pineapple "zen moment" for $9. I know it's way overpriced for my tastes, but I made a "treat yoself" move and am so glad I tried it! I could totally make this at home for a cheaper price, but the grand service and beautiful atmosphere begged me to try everything I wanted! I brunched on their white fish toast, which was nicely prepared and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Overall, everything was cleanly made and overwhelmingly small business-meets-big heart and service. This Yelper is a happy one. The only change I'd say is to lower the prices of the drinks. However, The Source has great and loyal clientele, that I hardly think the pricing is an issue. Another change that could be great is to open up the space and allow for larger parties. I wouldn't come here for a group of five or larger for convenience and peace-keeping's sake. It's annoying when other parties are being very obnoxious whether on purpose or not, so I'd hate to do that to anyone else in this small space. I would totally come here again. Having lived in San Diego for a while, I know my heart loves the ocean and the beachy vibes of Hermosa Beach. Can't wait to recommend this place to those who will be in the area! Protip: This place is PERFECT for beachside strolling or browsing lazily through the other boutiques/stores/restaurants. I might move here because of this place and that's not an exaggeration. My love for the source cafe can't even be measured and I am so happy that this place exists. A healthy eatery with juices, food, vegan/gf treats, some premade food and some bad ass drinks. Coffee with cayenne, yup, matcha drinks, yup this place just seems to have that healthy and tasty thing down. Whether you want to be healthy for the day or healthy for life this place has you covered. We picked up some fermented veggies, curried salad, pressed juices and coffee. Everything here is amazing. My kind of morning consists of three things: the beach, avocado, and smooth espresso. And this morning, I had all three!! I want to give this place five stars, but it just costs WAAAYYY too much for what it is...you go in and order, and if you're getting your order "for here," you seat yourself. They give you a block with a number and bring your order to you when it's ready What I had: - Sprouted wheat bagel with cashew cheese and avocado ($10): HOLY GUACAMOLE. This was the best bagel I've ever had??? And it was vegan??????? The cashew cheese has the richest, most savory, divine flavor. The texture is nice and thick, and they really don't skimp on how much they give you (but this should be expected CONSIDERING THIS BAGEL WAS $10!!!!!!!). The avocado complemented the whole thing really nicely!! And you get a lot of avocado. I am a sucker for avocado on bread-like things, and wow. I was genuinely impressed!! I COULD EAT THIS EVERY SINGLE DAY - Iced latte with tri-nut milk ($7.50): The tri-nut milk is made in-house using Brazil nut, hazelnut, and cashew. By default, this drink comes sweetened with maple. I don't like getting sweetener in my drinks, but I wanted to see what the maple did in terms of flavor, so I asked them to just add a little bit. The espresso was super smooth (not bitter at all!! For $7.50 I was kinda expecting it to be the best latte of my life, but I've had better in the South Bay. Nonetheless, this definitely does rank among the top), and I really liked the tri-nut milk!! I've never seen such a unique combo used in a latte. The flavor was nice and nutty!! I asked if they had hot sauce, and they didn't, but the worker told me they had crushed red chili, cayenne pepper, and chili aioli. I asked for the crushed chili and chili aioli. The aioli tasted SOOO GOOOOOOOD!! It wasn't really spicy, but it made the bagel taste even better. It had a nice, savory flavor to it Bottom line: SO EXPENSIVE!! Yes, hip bougie health food is $$$, but $18 for a bagel and a latte?? You could definitely taste the quality (THE FOOD TASTES SO REAL!!), but that's just way too expensive, even for something this delicious...there's space inside, as well as some outdoor seating. The tables have cute little succulents on them!! The workers are super friendly too!! As for parking, it's in the pier area, so it's metered. They had a bunch of other stuff on the menu that I'd really like to try (a bunch of unique smoothie bowls, smoothies, toast combos that sound amaaazing). I'd like to try this place out again the next time I'm in California. This place was set up a bit tight, and the staff was nice, don't get me wrong, but not very welcoming or upbeat. I ordered a coconut milk cappuccino. I'm not sure what I received. It definitely wasn't a cappuccino, and the drink tasted so bad I had to throw it away immediately. I felt bad wasting it, but it couldn't be stomached. That's hard to do with an espresso drink. I ordered a green juice that tasted like pond water, so that had to be chugged. I couldn't throw that out because of how expensive it was. The chia pudding also tasted like pond water. I've used the same superfood ingredients in my smoothies, and the trick is to add agave, or banana to add sweetness or flavor. It definitely needed something. I ended up taking it home and adding honey and cocoa powder. The next time, I will try one of their raw or healthier desserts because they looked very good. It is in a great location with a lot of parking so that wasn't an issue at all. You can literally grab your food and take it down to the beach. While I love this place for its GF options (they do have really great food) I have to voice my disappointment in their menu. I LOVE their paleo chicken panini and it's labeled on the menu as GF. I found out after eating it that it is apparently mislabeled on the menu now. Looking closer at the bread, it is absolutely a different bread than what was served previously...so I assume they changed the bread without bothering to change the menu...for a place that claims great GF status, this is a big no no. I remember when this place used to be Planet Earth Eco Cafe, which specialized in raw living VEGAN foods. Now, this place has a much more inclusive mission statement that tailors to all kinds of diets. I'm not sure if they're entirely organic, but from what I've had so far - everything tastes like they're consciously/locally sourced & crafted. I love all of their juice and smoothie blends! I am so happy to have options like The Source Cafe in the South Bay! I love being able to order knowing that the ingredients used are good quality and good for you. Everyone who works there is super friendly! Knock on wood I'm always able to find a spot. Sometimes I wait a few minutes on busy days but nothing crazy. I'm gluten free and LOVE their desserts! My favorite is the peanut butter blondie. The gf bread is not my favorite however... I'm a gf gal who doesn't need the reminder, lol. They have super healthy options on their menu like paleo, gluten-free, vegan, etc. it's clean, healthy eating and I like the pleasant ambience of the place, it's soothing. As for the food, I just had their avocado toast which was really solid. I also had their iced matcha latte. Not the best I've had, I've had much better matcha lattes elsewhere, to be honest it tastes a bit too grassy/earthy (not enough sweet) but I do appreciate that it's healthy. I have been a few times and largely enjoyed myself, but after eating breakfast there this morning, I don't think I will return. At the end of the day, the food just doesn't taste that good. I love the idea of a super healthy spot with lots of vegetarian products, but the vegetarian cheese they use in just about everything (I had the salmon bagel and the avocado toast... side note: why does avocado toast have cheese on it?) makes what should be a delicious meal taste kinda gross. Mocha ($5.50): it's probably the most I've splurged on a Mocha but very tasty nonetheless. Nice REAL chocolate flavor with a lovely heart-shaped froth on top. I can definitely see those more health conscientious folks flocking to this location due to their extensive paleo-friendly pastries, matcha lattes, various salads, and cold pressed juices. Those more like me, who don't mind a little extra calories, can enjoy their lattes and other coffee favorites (espresso, cappucino, etc.). The coffee shop perfectly embodies the cozy/intimate coffee shop feel but still captures the beachy/cool vibes of Hermosa Beach. There is plenty of interior and the comfiest patio available as well. Apart from the incredible coffee, the customer service is highly notable. The baristas all know each regular on a first name basis and even remember their usual drink. Incredible! Great almost "secret" new cafe in MB. I went with my baby daughter for a quick brunch (it is stroller friendly!). Plenty of parking in the back and a cute outdoor dining space is available. YUM. If you're looking for a truly healthy meal or drink, this is definitely the place for you. It's pricey, but you're paying for quality, organic foods prepared deliciously and the portions are not small. I absolutely LOVE the kale chicken caesar wrap, and I honestly don't even like kale. Not sure what they do to prepare it, but it's probably one of the best tasting, healthy wraps I've ever eaten. The paleo chicken panini with pesto is pretty damn good too and so is the smoked salmon toast. While I typically love bone broth, these aren't my favorites (I've tried both the traditional and the green), but they're soothing nonetheless if you're in the mood for something warm. My go to drink is the turmeric latte, but I honestly haven't tried any of their smoothies or juices yet. I'll have to keep coming back to taste some because they certainly look good! Great service. Their coffee and salad are expensive for how tiny of a portion of you get, but pretty tasty. However, our cashier really wasn't very nice which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. Sorry, I rarely give a bad review and I hate to complain about customer service because I know how annoying customers and people in general can be, but I was a barita/server for years and if I had that kind of attitude, I would not have lasted very long.
