Classes offered through the school are held on the Atlanta International School's campus, with other organizations offering classes there too (I heard Spanish in some of the classrooms as I squeezed in steps during a break). I really like how much the administrative staff and teachers care about the students, from the very young to older ones. The teachers are engaging and each email that AT and I have sent to Michel Lopez (Treasurer), one of the two people that are listed as contacts for the school on the website, has been promptly and courteously answered. There are many children's classes offered and AT and I love the attention that Miss Mina displays during her Bébé et Moi class. From what I've observed in the little one's classes and my first one, there is an emphasis on immersive learning, which I find to be the best approach to acquiring language skills. The kiddos learn traditional French children's songs and in little AT's class, he's learning the names of colors, animals, and numbers, which is perfect. He observes more than anything but going to these classes has leapfrogged his talking abilities. There are books and DVDs available to borrow to keep the French learning happening on days other than Saturday (Samedi). Besides those, another fun (and weight-gaining) benefit is the school sells viennoiseries (baked goods, like butter and almond croissants, pain aux raisins, pain au chocolat, and chausson aux pommes) from beloved and authentic Douceur de France! First come, first serve. This is a great way to start or end class (or refuel at the break of adult 2-hour classes). From our experience thus far, AT and I see our family being involved with the school for many years to come. Maybe it can make a Francophone of me after all?

My son attended Eastminster Preschool for about 2 months before I pulled him and moved him elsewhere. When he started at the school, he was just under 2 years old. I was shocked when about 2 weeks after being at the school I received an email describing all of the things that my child was doing wrong. He couldn't unpack and hang up his backpack, walk in a line, sit at a table and do centers, and the list went on. The email was sent to me as though my less than 2 year old child should already know how to do all of this. As a teacher and mom, I was very aware that these expectations of a less than 2 year old, especially a boy, were incredibly ridiculous. It made me feel as though his teacher knew very little about the developmental stages of children, and the director seemed to have no issue with this at all. I felt as though my little boy was being treated like a problem child, when I knew that he was a perfectly normal toddler boy. With that being said, this is not the only instance I have heard of boys being treated like problems at this preschool. I have two other friends who had similar experiences with their sons, and they were both dismissed and treated as though normal, developmentally appropriate boy behavior is actually misbehavior. If you have a well-behaved little girl, I'm sure she will do just fine here...but as for little boys, I would think twice before sending them here.

I wish staff was more consistent and the outdoor playground amenities were better but at the end of the day, I do recommend this place and know my children are safe and loved.

I did a lot of research regarding local preschools, and Child's Play was the clear winner for us! The cost is very affordable (and listed on their website, I believe). Hours are 9am-1pm with some additional before and after care options (offered separately not by the school). Drop-off and pick-up lines are very quick and smooth, especially compared to the stressful situations that I observe at other local preschools. The director is very warm and friendly. The school is faith-based with weekly chapel. COVID policies are either in line or slightly more laidback than other preschools / childcare locally. Children are not required to wear masks at any age. Teachers do not wear masks in the classroom, but some choose to wear masks when aiding the children in and out of cars in the drop-off and pick-up line. I have not personally heard of any COVID cases at the school this school year (2020-2021). I believe children can start as young as 18-24 months and stay until kindergarten. If you choose to hold back your child from K5, note that there is not a K5 transitional program but they can repeat the K4 curriculum. We have been very pleased with Child's Play and would recommend the program to anyone!

She adds the personal touch with allows student to be at ease when clarity is needed, and a safe space to ask questions until students were gained understanding. She is very supportive and patient. Miryung takes the time to ensure my pronunciations are accurate. I am enjoying the class. The front desk representative, Huraiyah is so accommodating and keeps students well informed in advance to ensure all matters related to enroll and class scheduling were made clear. While any transition is hard, their kindness, patience, and great communication made it so much easier. The teachers really took the time to get to know our child and our family, asked thoughtful questions, and created a space where our little one felt safe, happy, and loved. We received daily updates and photos that were always a highlight of our workdays. We just graduated from the school, but can't recommend it enough. The reason why I felt that I needed to review this school is for all of the out-of-town people looking to move into a community because of the schools. Look no further... you've found your new home! Coming from Florida in 2006, we moved to Woodstock pretty much blindly. My husband was relocated so there was really no choice. We looked at 40 homes in 2 days! We looked from Canton to Roswell. The house we have lived in for the past 10 years was the FIRST house that we toured! Funny huh??!! I did a TON of research on schools when I was still in Florida. Greatschools.net was a Godsend! When touring our home I was able to speak to the homeowner for a brief moment. I told her that we were thinking of sending our kids to the local private schools. Her exact words were "WHY??" She continued to tell me that Bascomb Elementary School was all and more. In the past 10 years I have met some of the most wonderful, caring teachers that I could hope for. If you have a special needs child they take great care in making sure that they have exactly what they need to succeed! It does take a bit for you to be "accepted" by the front office staff LOL. I had been going for years and felt that they were a bit put off any time that I needed assistance. What I later found was these women work as hard as the teachers! They deal with CRAZY parents (insert my name) on a constant basis. Among the great teachers they have the BEST NURSE IN THE WORLD! Nurse Jamie is an angel! My son actually likes to make trips to the clinic on a weekly basis (little flirt!). But for real, I have never seen a nurse take such care. When my older son had been in the clinic, she called me and gave me his temp, OXYGEN LEVEL, and so on! WHAT??? That's just insane! But so needed from us working moms that cant jump every time our kid has a splinter. Bascomb is a great school. My husband and I are so thankful that our kids have been able to go through a great Elementary School experience.
