I've been a customer at The Specialists for well over 38 years. I've always enjoyed good service, great craftsmanship,fair pricing and a myriad of services . As a car dealer and enthusiast, they have always delivered on time and as promised services for both myself and clients. However, today was unlike anything I've experienced over the past years. A client had left a car for consignment, 2010 Porsche Panamera S. She was the 4th owner. I previous sold this car to the first 3 owners over the last 16 years. At 32k miles presently,it is a fine example. 6 years ago, the specialists added CarPlay for the 3rd owner. The present owner (#4) said the car was having some issues with Car Play. it would cut out over bumps. I made an appointment and dropped the car. I was told there was no charge for the work because it was initially installed by them and was guaranteed. I had some problems resetting the CarPlay to my phone caused by the Porsche PCM. I attempted to set,reset and program the Blue tooth and CarPlay with my phone thru the PCM for 2 hours. Giving up,I called them to discuss the issue. I asked if I could come down with the car now. They agreed. I was met by GG as I pulled up and for the next 2 hours we sat in the car going thru everything I had done, undone, and perhaps messed up. In the end, the Porsche PCM needed to be reset and rebooted to accept the CarPlay. GG was patient, ridiculously knowledgeable and easy going through out the time. After the first hour I said I could just come back another day and she said no, we're just missing something here and it's going to get fixed. As she said, it was. The days of this kind of service and attention from a business and a dedicated employee are few and far between. Thank you The Specialist Crew and especially to GG. Then after it was done, I told them the tint looked lighted than before and had to argue with the guy who put it on saying it matched the other tint. We moved to AZ from Oregon and never thought of window tinting. Of course the sun is so intense here we had to get our 2 expensive German cars protected. Our neighbors told us we just had to go to The Specialist, so we did. We spent about $ 1200 for the two cars, as I recall. After 18 months the right passenger window of the SUV has two, visible, thin lines, scratches, top to bottom. I took it back to the Specialist location on Ruthraff in Tucson, where I had the work done. The guys on duty were very polite, looked at it and said let's see what we can do. They said " how about $ 150? I choked that it would be that much. I remember Johnny D saying they would take care of it if something happened. Then one guy says " well how about $75?" I just wanted a better radio for an older Pontiac but they treated my car like it was a Lamborghini, without a mark on it when they were done. So I went in to The Specialists (who also did my tint), and was given two quotes (with and without bells and whistles). Luis was vey professional and the customer service was outstanding. I went to the specialists on speedway to have them install a new alpine amp, an audio control dsp and 2 audio frog speakers. When I went over what I wanted done the guy said they were going to put an amp rack under the rear window ,behind the seat of my truck and I told them I wanted heavy ga. speaker wire run. They kept my truck over night and I said no problem take your time. I just want everything done right, I even called them to make sure they would dial in the amp and head unit. When I picked it up they were closing and I was in a hurry. When I turned it on it sounded like crap. I called them and they said I needed to dial it in according to my taste. Sure for the EQ on the head unit, but they needed to set the gains etc. They have,or are supposed to have the equipment to do that not leave it to me to do it by ear! Then I see no amp rack. They mounted my amp under the drivers seat with the main fuse right next to it instead of near the battery where it's supposed to be. Then I see they used cheap ass speaker wire and even used some OEM wire which really ticked me off. They set nothing on the amp which is nearly impossible to get to. They charged me over $850.00 and I already had the amp, DSP and speakers and the head unit was already installed. They said I could bring it back, but it's a work truck and I live in Vail. Screw that, it should have been done right the first time! Don't let their website fool you. My tweaker neighbor would do a better job. read more

It took me awhile to write this review because I wanted to see the process from start to finish prior to giving a company one star. I took my 2018 Toyota 4Runner (recommender by precision Toyota) to get a remote start added to my vehicle. I told them I wanted to use the factory key. No additional fobs. I scheduled my appointment and waited the 5 hrs I was told it would take. When I went to pick up my vehicle I immediately noticed I had two additional fobs. The manager apologized and told me they would fix it. I waited another hour and a half and my vehicle was returned to me. The manager went outside and attempted to show me how the remote start worked. While doing that the alarm would activate. He informed me he was having an off day and that my install was what I requested. Frustrated and tired of waiting I went home. When I got home EVERY TIME I tried to start my car remotely the alarm would activate. Talk about making you jumpy. After a bunch of calls back and forth, Christmas and a day off later I came back today. Driving up there from Vail.....for a third time......I came with the intention of having them try for a third time to fix it. After meeting the owner who seemed pretty nonchalant I decided to have them remove the parts completely and refund my money. My worry now is how much damage may be done to my new car after all the attempts and reattempts to fix an issue. Pros: Everyone was extremely nice. The place was clean. They started and finished as they estimated. They were more that will to continue to attempt to fix it. Cons: I spent money and ALOT OF TIME for a product that was incorrectly installed. The money I will get back but the time and potential damage with all sauntering and Tinkering I will never get back. I am beyond disappointed and upset. I really wish they would have saved me the time and told me their techs/shop was not equipped of trained to perform the service I paid for. I think they are great with audio systems. Everyone I know that has went to them for that are satisfied. read more

BEWARE...They told me I just needed some bass for my speakers. They tried to sell my a sub woofer for $1,000.00. They said it would cost me more if I changed out my speakers because I have a navigation. I went elsewhere and changed out 2 speakers that sound GREAT for less than half the cost. Well I have to admit that I'm really satisfied with the customer service and the work THE SPECIALISTS have done for me. I have a 2013 VOLVO 670 semi truck/18wheeler so I wanted to replace my factory CD player to the latest aftermarket CD player and for the past 4 months I have went and ask 20+ places including THE VOLVO DEALERSHIP AND BEST BUY as big as they r u would think they would solve ur problems right lol some doesn't have a clue some r afraid to touch it due to the truck's sophisticated electrical system and the unique wires in it nd some ask up to $3,500 to replace the entire stereo wiring module because the wire in it isn't analog signal it's electrical light signal it's their word I guess a gd way to rip ppl off so after I read all the excellent reviews THE SPECIALISTS got I went over 1 of the 3 shops they have @ 5602 E Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85711 U wouldn't believe it they had the wire harness @ the shop they didn't even have to order it which I couldn't find anywhere not only that they solve my 4 months problems and headaches by installing my KENWOOD CD player less than an hour professionally nd neatly now am being able to use my XM,PANDORA,iHiheartradio, & Bluetooth I wander y they have great reviews they deserve it nd I suggest all volvo truck owners who would like to do the same to go to THE SPECIALISTS STEREO INSTALLERS nd I know bunch of em who is struggling with this VOLVO SINDROME just like I LOL I salute u guys I thank u guys Aberaham read more

I log into Yelp to see all these amazing reviews, only to wonder why my experience was so terrible. I wish I could give no stars, as they do not even deserve the one. I called ahead a couple of weeks to schedule an appointment. It took me three calls to reach anyone, and when I arrived it was apparent why. There is only on man at the front desk, answering phones and assisting clients, and he looked very stressed out. He seemed distracted and like his mind was going a mile a minute! I drop my car off and mention the special offer I was informed of when scheduling. I sign all the forms, and he lets me know it will be about 2 and a half, to three hours. I leave with my son and not even 5 minutes later do I get a call informing me my car does not qualify for the sale discount, and I will instead be paying full price. The man's manager must have been next to him because he kept telling me I provided him incorrect information, when all I did was ask about the sale. I would like to assume the "Specialists" are well informed in all areas of their business, including what does and does not qualify for a sale. This is not something I do often, or else I would do it myself. If there are certain qualifications then inform me and go over them, please. This is the issue with only having one worker. He can't give clients the attention they need. I OK the price increase and we head to lunch. Three hours have passed and I don't receive a call. We head back and the lobby is packed. There are five guests waiting to be assisted, one man at the desk, and all he is doing is answering calls. It took me 20 minutes to be addressed. I ask for an update on my car and he informs me it is ready! Well the car was ready, but it wasn't my car. They brought me the wrong car. Could you imagine? What else do they fail to do correctly? What if someone had been given my car, decided they liked it better, and driven away? I tried to inform the technician three times, but he instead talked over me and ignored what I had to say. Needless to say, if I can't trust them to return my own car to me, I can't trust them to do any service to it. Well OK, that's not my car. Mistakes can happen. I was willing to overlook it. I ask for an update on my car, when it will be ready, and how much longer I can expect to wait. The man tells me it has not even been started yet. After three and a half hours, and WITH an appointment scheduled in advanced. It is absolutely unacceptable and poor business. When an appointment is made, I am making a deal that my car will be attended to at that time. And they could not even do THAT right. I asked why my car has not been attended to yet and am told, "We are very busy and have had a lot of walk in clients." So what? Why are they prioritized over your clients who called weeks in advanced? Why do you now expect me to spend all the daylight hours waiting for you to play catch up from your poor decisions? Completely unprofessional, and the owner should be embarrassed. Take a scheduling course, people. Better yet, a Business 101 class that emphasizes customer service. I am appalled by the experience provided by this establishment. I do not trust these people to even tie their own shoes. read more

Took my truck to the Specialists on Fairview yesterday to have the tint visor replaced after a new windshield install. Made the appointment and even stopped in to verify they could do what I wanted. I have a 2013 Dodge Ram and wanted the visor to go down a certain length like it was previously. When I stopped in was assured that they can do what I wanted no problem. Only reason why I ended up at the Specialists was that the cost was being covered by Safelite. Took the truck in the afternoon of the appointment and even told them again what I wanted and was assured that they should have no problem with the placement of the visor I wanted. Was even told if they cannot do what I wanted they would inform me before doing the install. Half hour goes by and the associate come over and says that they are done and couldn't do what I wanted due to not being able to go below the AS1 line on the windshield. They never came and told me before they did the final placement and install that it was not able to be done. Needless to say, I am unhappy with the final product. If I would have been told that they couldn't do what I wanted, I would have gone somewhere else that I know would have done what I wanted. The cuts on the edges of the tint visor strip are uneven and not even straight. Will not be going back or even referring people to go there. Now I will go somewhere else and have it redone to the way I wanted. Word of advice, if you want something done a certain way, make sure they inform you that they cannot do it before they do the install or final placement. read more

In addition to audio installs the Specialists have an individual that installs the MDAS-9 collision avoidance system by Movon corp.. In the fall of 2021 I had them install this system on my son's car. From the get go the Lane departure warning was a hazard. The problem was that the threshold was set too low, so that anything above 18 mph went off. I tried to adjust it from user controls to no avail. 12 months or so later the windshield got damaged and I had to have it replaced. This compromised the placement and attachment of the unit, as it is adhered to the windshield. I took it in to have the calibration rechecked, fresh adhesive installed and have the LDW turned off (I didn't know that threshold could be changed). I had just gotten a new sd micro card, so I asked them to put that in as well. When I went to pick the car up the SD card was still attached to the work order, so I asked that it get changed. Instead of the installer I saw some young guy run out to the car and put the new SD card in. I thought I saw the unit detach during this process, but wasn't sure. Three days later the unit came off the windshield and started swinging about. I added my own double sided tape and that seemed to hold - for a while. A few months later it separated and again the unit was banging around. I had to secure it to a sunvisor and start looking for industrial strength tape. Also the LDW was still screaming all the time, as it had not been turned off as I had asked. By the time I found good tape and put it back up the unit stopped working. Apparently something inside broke. I contacted Movon Corp in Korea and after some negotiations they agreed to sell me a unit at cost under warranty. It is now working good. I was able to reset the LDW threshold and customize the settings. It's obvious that the tech never did anything other than take $100.00 from me. He never even asked why I wanted to have the LDW turned off. Didn't put new adhesive on the unit nor even take 5 minutes to put a new SD micro card in. I DON'T recommend you use these folks for the MDAS-9 install. Find a local installer and have them access the install process online. It's not easy, but not impossible either. I did it with a laptop and a lot of patience. I actually know a local person here in Tucson that would do a nice job if given the chance. read more

I got my other car tinted by a guy who comes to the Mercedes dealership, and Mercedes assured me the guy does a great job and was vetted very carefully by Mercedes. Well, compared to the Specialist, that guy's work was amateur, and he charged 3X what the specialist charged. I got my bmw tinted at the Specialist, and everyone was really nice and took the time to explain all the various tints and differences. The place is very kid-friendly, with a car video game, snacks, tv with all the channels and little kid-sized lounge chair. The men who work here are all gentlemen, going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. One guy even got his iPhone charger from his car so I could charge my phone, another held the door for me and the same guy was so nice when I spilled soda on the floor (he said he'd mop it up and that it happens all the time). The tint work was overall very good. Unfortunately, there was a scratch on the front window, but I brought the car back as they took care of it very quickly and checked it thoroughly.
