The ice cream is sweet and very creamy, so says my wife who had a single scoop (very generous) of the huckleberry, the most popular. "I didn't say it was a bad thing." This is a literal conversation that my husband and I had quietly at our table at The Spoke. After a 2800 mile road trip, we were exhausted, and literally picked this restaurant as it was the closest place to get food in relation to our parking spot. But it worked. There was no wait, we were walked straight to our table, and the service was quick, professional, and friendly. We started off our meal with macaroni and cheese poppers, which were crunchy, flavorful, and if anything, over-generous. I had a beet and goat cheese salad, which was fresh and crispy, and my husband had "The Texan", a burger with a whole grilled anaheim pepper. The burger was beautiful, and per my husband's report, delicious. While they do have a limited alcohol menu, you won't find any of it on display behind the bar. That's because the bar is where the employees work nonstop to produce the house-made ice cream which is so popular a line forms outside on the street just for the confections! I'd love to speak to the quality, but alas, we were so full for dinner that we couldn't handle dessert. The only concern I had was that the ladies' room needed attention. When I mentioned this to an employee, the issues were fixed within 5 minutes. Well done. The food her was amazing and our waiter went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent experience. Also, those macaroni poppers were delicious beyond words. So forget about the cliches and the trendiness. We will definitely be back next time we're in Moab (and maybe be able to try that famous ice cream!). read more

On our second night in town, we found this restaurant/ice cream parlor. We arrived at 530pm on a hot Saturday evening and were seated quickly. Our server was fast and efficient. They have a good selection of legal beers on tap and also offer mixed drinks. What I enjoyed was the huge portions and the fact that you can switch out any of their burger selections with chicken, mushroom, or a veggie burger. We are our meal and it was pretty good. I was excited to try this place after looking at the menu. And the smells were great when we arrived. Then.... Waiting and waiting... hostess looks to be about 12 years old and can't add. Told we would wait 15 to 25 minutes and at 45 minutes we've waited too long to go anywhere else. I don't mind waiting when needed, but I can't stand it when a hostess can't put two tables together to get the first party seated. Had a porcupine lemonade which was tasty. Kids food got served quickly. Then they forgot to bring my rise n shine burger out. When my husband finally asked what was happening the manager brought over a plate of food that had been sitting under a hot lamp for about 1/2 hour. The egg was well done and curdled. This has been a terrible experience. I'm out. My advice, look down the street. There has to be a better place to eat in Moab. read more

Moab finally has great places to eat! Several wonderful food establishments have popped up over the past several years to relieve you from the sub-par joints like Pasta Jay's. My wife had the lemon piccata with chicken which was way over seasoned and beyond salty and peppery. Less is more. My kids got the chicken tenders and grilled cheese. We really enjoyed our meal here after a solid day of adventuring in Arches. This modern space in a beautiful old building was a welcome end to our long day. We easily parked in the lot behind the building and expected to wait for a table on a Friday night, but were seated immediately in the bar area. Atmosphere was bright and lively, with TVs and a fairly packed house, especially out on the patio. They're all in on the biking motif. We received prompt service that accommodated a bunch of menu modifications with ease. We ordered draft beers from Uinta, salads, fries and the veggie burgers. All the food was great - the veggie burger was homemade and as such was a little mushy, but we appreciated the freshness of all the food. We tried going here 3 times in the past 3 days for ice cream. The first night they gave the two people in front of us in line a laminated paper that said "your the last people for ice cream" the woman who had the paper felt so bad for saying that we couldn't get ice cream, but at least we knew what time it closed at. The second time there was a bunch of costumers inside the restaurant, I went in to ask if ice cream was open and the woman said "no", we thought it was weird because the ice cream closed before the restaurant. Today it was the middle of the day (2 pm) and we just got back from zip lining (so it was really hot and sweaty) and we went to the ice cream line, but once again, there was a laminated paper that said "ice cream is closed for today", but all of the ice cream coolers were open. Food is a little $, but compared to the pasta across the street, at least you're getting something besides boiled noodles for the same cost (actually, we also got dessert here too and still paid less than across the street for the same amount of people). My 10 year old caught on that the waiters would yell 'corner' as they went around the corners so they didn't collide and so he started yelling it for them. They all had a great sense of humor about it and were really great with kids. We went to the restaurant across the street the following night and regretted it. Let me preface this with that I wish you could give the ice cream window a separate review (6 out of 5 stars). Now moving on the main event. I have had some sleepless nights thinking about this review (on the restaurant). We will be giving this a solid 2-piece, nothing more and nothing less. To further unpack read below: Appetizers (4 out of 5): Solid grub. Entrees (3 out of 5): Edible but some of the burger toppings were missing and the avocado was rock hard. Service (0 out of 5): Classic case of the customer is never right. Moab isn't like most desert backwater towns and the Spoke is not the only game in town. We've always driven by this place when going through Moab and have always wanted to stop in because they have such a neat patio with heaters and lights. We finally did! They have a ton of seating both in and out with an upstairs seating section and large bar area. We arrived during dinner during EJS figuring that we'd have to wait but we were seated quickly. Larger groups were not getting in nearly as fast as our party of 2. The menu is not large (which is a good thing IMO) and they have some great options. We tried the Macaroni Poppers for an app and some wine for beverage. The poppers were good, not great. The pasta wasn't blue box mac but there was no flavor. We ended up taking some home and spicing it up a bit and they were much better. My boyfriend and I both had a burger. Him the bacon and bleu cheese and I, a bacon with smoked gouda. Both were very delicious but honestly, seemed overpriced for what they were. Overall, I'm glad we tried it to say we did but I don't think we'd be back. Prices are too high for the lack of flavor the food had (yes, I realize it's a tourist town and prices are going to be high). $80 for a mediocre meal kind of sucks :( read more

Came here for dinner because the outside seating area appeared to have a nice lit ambiance. We ordered the Texas burger and the Chili Cheese burger. Both burgers tasted pretty bland. The chili on the burger had no flavor. The fries tasted as if they had been sitting out for a while. For the cost of the food, we definitely expected better food. The service was okay. Fabulously hipster restaurant in the heart of downtown Moab. The decor and environment are very inviting however the staff are not overly friendly. We sat near the kitchen and overheard several conversations between what appeared to be the manager and various wait staff. The manager seemed to set the tone and was serious and a bit grumpy. We didn't want to wait forever and this restaurant had a great heated patio that on a Fall evening was very pleasant. I had the mushroom burger, it was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed it. My only comment is that the bun was entirely dry, no "secret sauce" mayo or anything, there is ketchup and mustard on the table. I put some blue cheese dressing on it that we had left over from a nice garden salad we had. The fries are home made, fairly thin and we're tasty. My husband had the regular burger and liked it. While maybe not the absolutely best burgers we have ever had, they hit the spot after doing Arches NP. Technically a 3 1/2 star restaurant, but I'm giving them 4 because I don't think they deserve a 3. Here is my take: Good food but sketchy service. When you check in with the hostess they take your cell number and say they will text you when a table is ready. Great, but I never got a text. After we noticed people behind us were being seated, I checked with the hostess to only be told she texted me 5 minutes ago. I explained to here I never got the text and she proceeds to tell me that sometimes it does not work. Then why not call out my name? Come on, you can do better! The food was good. We had the loaded fries for an appetizer, and I got the cobb salad. Fries had real cheddar cheese and my salad was very fresh. I really loved the homemade citrus vinaigrette. My wife got the fish and chips and said it was good. We will give them a second chance. I'm hopeful they improve the hostess situation. read more
