Cats!
Cute fluffy, scratching everything....and awful allergens
This is the first time I'd met this kitten after a near three year hiatus from the People's Republic of Sheffield and within 20 minutes this gentrified Londoner was out of the house with eyes squealing and a face like a beetroot.
Please take me back to the city it seems I'm allergic to anything else!
So we went to the pub..and had wine (not with the kitty, that would be silly)
One of a small chain (Ember pub and dining) in the area, nice, very professionally set up place just near the entrance to The Snake Pass. The house white was reassuringly good and we went to have a ribeye steak with thick chips, onion rings and peas (£13). My friend had the 'black and blue' burger (£10). The food wasn't bad, the steak was nice, properly cooked and perfectly good for the price and place. Good tasty chips and crispy onion rings.
They bill themselves as a gastropub; sorry guys the food was OK but doesn't really cut it. Certainly better than the likes of Sam Smiths or Wetherspoons, but hardly gourmet. Handily though they serve food until 10pm daily.
The place seems to be good for families with enough room for kids and pushchairs and they appeared to have a really nice set of ales.
All in all not a bad place to escape a cat. read more
