Came by on a Monday night looking for a good local bar. Was surprised when we were told there was a 30 min wait for tables when there were tables that were cleared but not set up or needed to be bussed that were open. No worries we were fine to sit at the bar. The bartender was attentive and very nice. I was excited to see the unique fusion to the menu with both burgers and sushi offered. We order the tuna tartar, steak and cheese and the blackened chicken cob salad. I was extremely disappointed with the size of the tuna. Although the flavor was good for $20 the tuna portion size was very small, the dish was mostly seaweed salad. Way overpriced. Everything else was tasty! The chicken was juicy and the greens were fresh, the streak and cheese was melty and hit the spot. I'm sure we will be back to try more offering soon. One side note: I felt bad for the bartender who was slipping and sliding behind the bar. I highly recommend investing in bar mats so one of these girls don't eat it in the middle of a busy shift! Been here a few more times since it's opened. They recently updated their menu to add even more food choices in virtually every category. Small diatribe against pub owners who don't care about their patrons' comfort and maintaining the furniture... At least one of the pub tables on the bar side has a wobbly table. Everyone knows about it and says, "Oh, that's just the way it is." No, folks, I don't choose to spend my good money at a restaurant that doesn't have furniture that doesn't work. My table in my house doesn't wobble -- why would it ever be okay to pay someone else for a meal while trying to balance your food all night long? We moved over to the next table (with our waiter's permission). Another couple was sat next to us and experienced the same poor table. They tried wedging something under it, but it didn't work very well. So they too moved over to another table, again with the waiter's permission. Then what appears to be the manager comes over to the other couple and tells them they can't sit there. She apparently didn't realize the waiter had told them they could. This misunderstanding -- and all the drama that comes from it -- could easily be fixed by FIXING YOUR WOBBLY TABLE! (And yes, it's odd brand-new furniture has this problem, but just fix it so your patrons aren't trying to fix it themselves. Every single night.) Moving on to the food... We started off with an app of the new teriyaki chicken wings and two small salads. The chicken wings were very good, moist and meaty and the sauce combination just right. The salads were also good. My wife had the chicken, while I tried the new meatloaf entree. Both were delicious -- well-seasoned and properly cooked -- although the portion size of mine was ridiculously huge (two potato pancakes the size of half the plate!). Last, the service... Our waiter was excellent. He was very attentive in the often-crowded and busy bar area of the restaurant, and handled cleaning our table with aplomb. Sadly, the kitchen can't really keep up with the orders when it's busy, so we were left waiting a long time for our app and salads. But the wait shortened when it came time for our entree, so that was good. Finally, is it worth it? Here's where it's hard to decide. You can have a wonderful night out at Keon's in Haverhill for two for well under $100 -- which was about our tab for dinner here at The Spot. This is a high-priced gastro-pub where you are actually going to end up paying more than you would at some other local restaurants. Is it worth it? Maybe once in awhile, but it couldn't become the local spot I'd go to every week because of the price alone. read more

I'm not sure what happened. I think I arrived shortly after a company shamming/employee meeting. I sat at the bar and quickly noticed a beer on tap I wanted, no problem. Upon being served my beer the bartender turned to the manager on duty and stated the following remark... "we won't get a corporate complaint about that pour, its perfect, you should take a picture". I was left thinking, did I do something I'm unaware of? I knew 2 thing; 1) I don't order food here because its terrible at best. 2) I write reviews on yelp... did I write something?(which I have not until now). I'm not sure what's going on here, if you've been receiving customer feedback it means that your customers want to let you know not just when you're doing well, but when something is wrong. Sushi was "good", I had the meatloaf that was a very small piece 6"x3" and about 1/3 inch thick. The flavor was outstanding, but when you order meatloaf I expected a generous piece considering it was $22!!! Yes for meatloaf. So out of 7 of us, 7 for 7 felt service was brutally slow for a half full place, 2 out of 7 "really liked" their food. 4 of 7 won't return. The other comment was overpriced for a few of the entrees. Fabulous burger, cooked to the right temp! So often, when I ask for a "burger medium," it's overcooked. But this place nailed it. Service was fast at the bar, and my side of garlic-infused spinach was a great healthy accompaniment to my burger. The aesthetics are great here, too. Warm wood tones and a fireplace in the dining room really make it feel welcoming in the wintertime. The music was good while I was there -- classic rock. My food came out quickly, but it wasn't that busy when I was there, so that was no surprise. My friends and I all love The Spot. They have had their struggles, as many newer businesses do, and I think they all come back to employees. I know Management and Ownership are invested and attentive, but sometimes the service is slower, which is the root of the Spot's problems (Cold food? Slow server - too much water in your drink? Same deal.) Whenever I have commented, Management has been receptive and I have noticed vast improvements. People leaving too-harsh reviews are unrealistic, and have no basis for a business understanding. The first year is the year of blunders and change, and I feel the Spot had handled their blunders with grace and accountability, and the change is all for the better. Their food is always gorgeous and flavorful, and it fills a huge gap in restaurant type in this small town. I recommend you sign up for the Serenity Rewards card, which gives you great value. For Sushi fans, please make sure to try The Spot Roll! Also, I strongly disagree, and take offense to, the review saying that the Georgetown PD is just waiting to pull people over. The Police Officers in this town are all nice family men, and they do take their concern for drunk driving seriously, for the sake of the families in our town. You made it sound like that is a bad thing, or that the restaurant should somehow discourage police presence? - but you hit the nail on the head - Don't Drive Drunk. Went to meet a friend at the Spot in Georgetown. I was welcomed warmly at the door and was waited on immediately at the bar by Tammy. Not only is she easy on the eyes but she is funny and a great bartender. The chef ce put to talk to us about the new menu and it was cool to see how excited and proud he is of the new menu. Mike took over for Tammy as bartender and he also is a great bartender with a great personality. The food was great. I love the friend pickles, the sushi and the Rubens. I love the sushi items here the sushi cook is really talented, however IDK what's going on at the bar, service was non existent, had to ask after I was walked by 3-4 times for another beer and was never asked really anything, had to initiate all interactions with the bartender. This has not been my past experience here, usually pretty good, never once asked me how my meal was, (I don't send food bak I just don't order it ever again), haddock was cold and mashed potatoes were not hot enough to melt a pad of butter but Brussel sprouts were hot and delicious. I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened a few years ago and never had such really poor service by a waitperson .. we had a young woman who at first appeared to e be attentive to us ( a party of 3) who arrived at 4pm . We were slow to make a decision but once we decided and then received our food we literally did not have her attention for another 25 minutes. It was still not busy and could not understand what happened ... long story short this server did not apologize for her lack of attention to us as customers. We ended up having to seek her out and walk up to her to request our check and to go boxes. So, let me tell you a little story about my favorite spot in Georgetown, The Spot! My partner and I moved from the big bad city to quiet little Georgetown in October, 2016. While we were exploring the area and looking at houses, we stopped at The Spot for a quick bite on a Sunday afternoon. It was good; and I don't mean food good, I mean everything good. The waitstaff, the atmosphere, EVERYTHING! I couldn't have been happier that we found our dream house, but also a friendly watering hole within walking distance of our new home. Fast forward to the present. You know how in "Cheers" when Norm walks into the bar, everyone greets him with a hearty hello? Well, The Spot is now my "Cheers" and although they may not know my name, they definitely know how to make me feel welcome. Trivia on Tuesday's and cocktails on Sunday Funday are best enjoyed at The Spot. My only suggestions, and these are merely suggestions, are to crank on the AC and bring back 2-for-1 burgers (because the bacon jam alone on the Spot Burger is a gift from the gods!). First time I've been to this restaurant, and the last. Most of the food was mediocre, but the Truffle fries weren't good. Total waste of money. Not to mention the fries were lukewarm and semi-limp. Not crispy or hot. They sat in the kitchen a while, about 10 minutes before being served. First, the SPOT hardly puts any truffle oil on the fries. You can watch the kitchen line cooks making the truffle fries while sitting at the bar. You can see right into the kitchen. The kitchen adds probably a teaspoon of truffle oil for an entire giant metal bowl of fries, which is about one big fryer basket, or about 4 normal portion-sized servings of fries. The kitchen staff squeezes the truffle oil from a plastic bottle over the fries for about a one second pour. Truffle fries are supposed to have a tablespoon of truffle oil per single potato, cut up into fries, which is about 1.5 normal servings. Truffle oil isn't that expensive, especially when you can buy it in bulk commercially. Second, the kitchen staff only - but very heavily - drowned the fries in salt and grated parmesan cheese. The only thing you can taste is the parmesan cheese, sticking to the deep fryer oil on the fries. Truffle fries are supposed to have equal parts of salt and PEPPER, and fresh cut PARSLEY, and only a MILD sprinkling of grated parmesan cheese. Basically, at the SPOT, you're only buying regular french fries coated with parmesan cheese at a ridiculous truffle fry price. I've had better, and know the difference. Went here on a Wednesday night. Crowded bar but found a seat. Got a well made stoli raz madress. Ordered a cup of house made chili. It was good. Wish it came with crackers or something but thats ok. Now for the reason for 4 stars. The BURGER. It was top 10 burgers of my life. Served on a brioche bun, cooked perfectly and served with what looks like house cut fries. Awesome. I even went back two nights later for another burger, hoping it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. The burger was great. The bathroom was clean and stocked. We've been to The Spot handful of times now & have been happy with our experience each time. We generally sit at the bar and have always had pleasant interactions with the bartenders. Most recently we were there on a Thursday evening and it was packed! Service was a little slower than usual but it was to be expected, there wasn't an empty seat in the house. We are frequent visitors to all of the Setenitee restaurants and are happy to have one in our hometown now. Although The Spot isn't my favorite of their restaurants I think in time it will only get better. Went there on a Saturday with my wife and two teenage sons . Service was slow got a water after about 10 minutes. I ordered the Ruben sandwich which was $15 so I was expecting a nice sandwich. When it arrived was very disappointed I have never seen marble rye bread so small ! It barely had any meat inside it . My wife got the meatloaf which was very dry. It took 10min before someone came over. it took 30min before we got our drinks. 50min later, the couple next to us left when the waitress came over to us I started to speak "we've been here 50..." then she snapped "it's coming..." while walking away.
