Stick to the incredibly fresh local seafood here and you can't go wrong! What a delightfully delicious dinner in an otherwise small, quiet fishing village. If you are looking to get away from more touristy Marazion or Penzance, make the drive to Porthleven and eat here.
We started with the bread with hummus and olives. The bread had a warm fennel flavor and the hummus had great texture.
My friends had the warm seafood starter and I had the Porthleven crab. It was everything crab should be: sweet, fresh and juicy.
For mains all three of us had the same dish: hake filet with sautéed greens, pea shoots, lemon, anchovies and capers. It was a perfectly balance dish and the fish was cooked perfectly.
Dessert was a creme brûlée with rhubarb compote and ginger ice cream. Quite lovely.
Service was excellent.
