We…read morehave done this on numerous occasions at the same restaurant as we have always enjoyed our meals there, today however was a disaster! It all began with us arriving 10 minutes prior to our booked time of 7:30 and were shooed back with the waving of hands because we were too early. We waited a few minutes and were shown to our table. Drinks were ordered and the gin and tonics arrived as gin and lemonades - perhaps an easy mistake and it was rectified so on to the meal. The 9 starters were all perfectly acceptable but when the main courses arrived it all fell apart. A senior member of staff walked out in despair complaining the staff were not trained and he could not do it all himself. 4 of us ordered the Tournados Rossini which arrived with foul tasting pate which when removed from the steak gave off a terrible smell so we asked the waiter to smell it. The outcome was that the 'chef' insisted it was fine but smelt like it did because it was duck pate this later became the fault of the Madeira sauce. Having had this meal on a number of occasions in Enzos, as well as being a trained chef myself, we were all fully aware that something was wrong... it was off! We asked to speak to the manager but the older man in the restaurant pointed towards the kitchen and when asked at the servery no-one in the kitchen the owners son, also called Enzo, did not step forward so there was no-one to manage the havoc that was reigning throughout the establishment. We settled or bill for the starters and drinks we had had and even left a little extra as it is not the young staffs fault they have not been trained but we were not paying for the main courses that were not consumed although they even tried to charge for the gin and lemonades we did not order. There were no apologies only excuses! We are now waiting to see if our insides are going to be affected but just in case I have retained two portions of the rancid pate for environmental heath if necessary! As a restaurant that we visited quite regularly being locals we will never return to now.

From good advice on drinks (some of which l went on to order from home) to serving the most delicious food - l had pasta, my friends had fish and steak. From the first mouthful l was in love with my seafood pasta ( l am italian, therefore my standards are quite high) The fish was tasty and plentiful, the steak melted in the mouth, according to my friend and the atmosphere was buzzing. We went mid week , it was busy therefore, as Enzo doesn't believe in rushing his customers, l reccomend booking in advance to make sure you get a table We finished off with home made dessert and l had the best complimentary Grappa l ever tasted (another one for the drinks cabinet) Enzo made our evening truly special. We will come again soon.

We love this place, the boss is just the same as he was when we first went there, nothing changes, the decor does, a little!, the menu is pretty much the same and the music, which tends to be loud!!! It is the place food damn good Italian food, cooked the old way, so Filipo tells me. It is nice to go to a restaurant where you kinda know what you are going to get and know that it will be good and the boss is going to welcome you in whther he knows you or not. Let them know there is a reason, birthday, anniversary etc, in fact we have seen just about every concievable reason for going out celebrated over the years, and following Filipo getting eveyones attention with the aid of a cow bell, the victim or should I say lucky person will have the entire place sing happy birthday, or whatever suits the occasion, which will then be followed up by a free Flamin' Zambucca. I have suffered/enjoyed this many times and look to have a few more! If you are after a quiet night look elsewhere but if it is a fun night with good food and drinkable house wine, Filipos is the place to go.

I was in Weymouth for my sister's wedding this past summer and she scheduled one meal at the Marlboro. I ate there 3 times over the course of 4 days. I tried to lose some weight to look good for the wedding; this place definitely didn't help that cause. For about £10 pounds, you get a reasonably sized filet(s) and a whole heap of chips. The batter is crisp, light, and perfectly seasoned. The pineapple fritters are an awesome dessert - kind of like a fried Oreo us muricans love with only half the guilt/remorse afterward. The chips are ok - again, mostly because I've been conditioned to want my fried potatoes to be crispy. I prefer the chips w/ the curry sauce poured over top. YUM! Of the types of fish I tried, I'd put cod - mackerel - haddock in order of preference. Salt and vinegar are available, but all other sauces are charged a nominal fee. You can eat in or takeaway - the eat in area is a bit congested, so may not be very comfortable if you have young children. The queue is formidable but it moves along rather quickly. Sitting by the Old Harbour bridge, eating fish and chips and drinking a Shandy Bass...lovely way to spend an afternoon--or three--in Weymouth.
