We have always used Steam Team because they are local, the customer service is great, and we are normally very happy with the results. Today we had them come out to steam clean our tile floor. At ,62 cents per square foot, we have 680 square yards to clean. That came to $400 or so dollars. Kinda high. But they did a great job. Then we asked how much to seal the tile, and while the office on the phone said, same price per square foot as the steaming, one of the guys said, "No, it will be $1.00 per square foot. I said, no, the office told me the price. The other guy who was making up the quotes said it will be .62 cents per square foot. So after the steaming, and letting it dry, they sealed the tile. $400 to steam the floor, another $400 to seal, they used cheap seal and it wasn't worth them sealing the tile. My husband went and bought sealant and did it himself with quality sealant and it looks 10x better. Dont spend the money on sealing. It is like mopping. We really like Steam Team, but dont like getting ripped off, which we did. Update: Steam Team manager Steve called me and we discussed the glitches that occurred. While we will still use The Steam Team in the future, the fact that they care about our experience and want to learn from it, and....take care of their customers, makes the experience wonderful. Terrible service- they left little stuck on food on my sofa and still had dirt in the button tufts. When trying to re-schedule a re-do, they only gave me 10 days to do so, even though it is hard for me to make that work soon with my work schedule, as they will only give you a 4 hour window and not an exact time. Will never use them again for furniture cleaning! So they did decide to come back and re-clean the sofa and it looks so much better and clean. They also gave me a credit for next time! read more

Bottom line up front, extremely pleased and satisfied with the carpet cleaning, the service team, and the results of using The Steam Team. I recommend them to everyone. We researched several carpet cleaners and some of the new techniques, steam, water extraction, and enzyme based treatments to determine the best. Based on the research and reviews we selected the steam team and the enzyme treatment. Note we have three dogs, Great Danes that are over 200lbs and needless to say they make a mess and a smell. Setting up the appointment was fast and professional, kudos for the team as we had some last minute guests coming in and needed the service the next day. Called and talked with a representative and she coordinated a team to be there the next afternoon. They arrived at the exact time and provided very professional service. They placed walking pads on the hardwoods, placed protective booties on their shoes, corner protectors around all the hallways, doorways, and stairs. They spent about 20 minutes just preparing the area and took care not to damage anything. I was very pleased by this process. As the the floor cleaning. They sprayed the enzyme and then used the truck based system to clean the floors. It was a two man team so one cleaned while the other "supervised" and providing guidance as tot he areas to get over. They moved furniture and elevated the furniture after cleaning by placing protective blocks on underneath any footpads. This was the first time using this technique and I will say after they finished and the carpets fully dried they looked and smelled, yes even with the dogs, just like new. All the spots were removed and the dog smell was completely eliminated . It has been a few weeks and no smell has returned, except new smells from the dogs. Surprising to me after a few days a representative called to check on how we liked the service and to see if there were stains, spots, smells, that returned. She stated they like to follow up and ensure customer scarification. I definitely recommend this company and service if you need carpet care in your home. read more

While I was not expecting The Steam Team to work miracles on the grout in my bathroom floor and shower, I did expect some improvement. The tile I had cleaned is about 10 years old and has been well maintained. The grout on the floor was fairly dirty. Rather than doing the scrubbing myself, I thought I would call The Steam Team. They were very efficient about scheduling the appointment, called with a reminder the day before and showed up promptly at the appointed time. The technician was very polite and friendly, but he kept insisting that the spots of mildew in the shower were signs of the grout failing. After he cleaned both areas, there was absolutely no difference. So I cut my losses, sent the guy on his way and spent the afternoon with a spray bottle of Tilex and a toothbrush. And you know what? My tile and grout looks great now! Update: I was contacted by both the manager and owner of The Steam Team. They gave me a full refund as well as a discount on a future service. They seemed confident that their cleaning service would work on my grout. Unfortunately I had already cleaned it myself, but we have agreed to try again in the future. Don't be fooled by their beauty and woodliness... trees are ruthless. This past weekend, I was heading to breakfast with a friend/client when he called in a panic and asked that I bring my box fans... his downstairs toilet had been overflowing and everything was soaked. To make a long story short, roots had grown into the sewer line and after two major overflows (NOT clean water), my friend called The Steam Team. Not only do they do carpet cleaning, but they have a group that specializes in water damage. Who knew? They arrived within an hour or so of our calling, assessed the situation, gave a recommendation, called in reinforcements, and then started cleanup. Soon we had 5-6 Steam Team guys (led by Cade... he's awesome). They vacuumed out standing water, cut out and hauled-off soaked carpet, removed baseboards, drilled holes in the walls so that they could dry, and set up a huge array of industrial fans and dehumidifiers. They came back in a couple of days to make various moisture content measurements and recommended a couple more days of the train-sounding hurricane (dem fans loud). So if you're faced with water damage that will require an insurance claim, don't waste time... call the Steam Clean and ask for Cade. read more

Avoide any company that won't give you at least a ballpark estimate over the phone. We have an 1890's house with wood floors and area wool rugs. They said an estimate professional would have to come out first. Once in your home they assume they have you. No! We have a microfiber pottery barn run of the mill couch. He said $110 but that won't get any smells out and it could be worse. Wanted another $60 plus tax for an additional "enzyme" treatment for odors. The wool rugs were $80 each for an 8x10 rug. The whole thing was ridiculous so I sent him on his way. Don't trust this company unless you like spending a lot of money. Once again if I could give this company LESS than one star I would!!! Evidently my landlord doesn't hire companies that do what they say! First the make ready company, now these jokers! So here's the long drawn out story, that is still ongoing after a month! The Steam Team was hired to clean the carpet in the 2-story duplex I put a security deposit down on Jan 1. The week of January 23 my landlord finally got off of his ass and hired 2 companies to come in and make ready the place and steam clean the floors. Neither was done correctly and I should NOT have moved my family into this disgusting nightmare that we are now living in. On Jan 27th we did a final walk through and the place was DISGUSTING! A barn sitting in the Texas heat would smell better! So he called in his 'flooring guy' to come and check it out. This guy met me here and immediately said the carpets needed to be replaced, and the downstairs needed to be steam cleaned and the whole place needed an enzyme treatment. Why didnt the jerks that came in and supposedly steam cleaned the carpets notice this? All of the carpet was eventually replaced upstairs the next week. So 2 weeks ago, after my landlord called the Steam Team back to setup service for the tile and grout downstairs, I called and spoke with "Andrea" and setup an appointment to have the floors steam cleaned and treated. The guy showed up on time (first call of the day last Thursday) and he did a great job, unfortunately, he discovered that some other dip-shit, probably my landlord, had sealed the floor with a silicone sealant that he could not remove and he advised that the floor needed to be acid stripped and sealed correctly. They sent over the QA manager so he could confirm and I was told he would get it approved with the landlord. He did and I called back in that afternoon to schedule the acid stripping for Tuesday Feb 28. I rearranged my sons school schedule and Monday we again moved ALL of the furniture out of the living room and shoved it into the garage where it is still. The man that showed up at my house at 1145am, not the 2pm scheduled time, had no idea that he was supposed to be doing the job at that time. He told me that he was only here to do an evaluation of the floor. NOT ONCE when I was on the phone scheduling this did "Andrea" ever mention that this appointment would only be an evaluation! This place does not know how to keep anything straight! Nor do they know what good communication is! I've called again this morning to find out when they think they are going to schedule the service I was supposed to get yesterday and the manager is in a meeting. How convenient! I would NEVER hire this disorganized, unprofessional company!!! read more

It sounds like they are just a carpet company, but no, they are much, much, more. This past weekend we were cat-sitting for a friend of ours when we discovered their home was flooding one night. They know they are getting paid by your insurance, not you, so make sure to do everything right so the insurance company can't try and finagle their way out of anything. Stumbled across The Steam Team online while looking for a carpet cleaning company and after calling them found out they were pretty busy because they just had a Groupon offer that I missed (grrrrr!). Nonetheless they were more than helpful to fit me into their schedule. The only carpet I have in my entire house is on my stairs. I was worried they would gripe about such a small job, yet they were nothing but professional. I explained that I had a puppy who had some accidents and a male Siamese who had sprayed on the stairs so I needed some serious pet treatment. They sent out Leo. Leo was soooo awesome! Originally from the capital of the country of Columbia (we spent several minutes talking about South America and his transition to the US ten years prior) he has since settled into Austin and is a definite asset to The Steam Team. He explained every detail of the clean and pet treatment down the last detail even though I wasn't a big job for them. He even offered to come back and do a touch up treatment for me, and he left me with a sample of the enzyme treatment to re-apply to the carpet on my stairs at a later date. What a great guy! PS: The Steam Team doesn't leave you with greasy carbon copy receipts that you don't need--instead they operate off of iPad's and simply email you a copy of your receipt right then and there. I'm changing my review. I had originally booked a clean that was scheduled for day before thanksgiving in anticipation of having company over. On the day of the cleaning, wires got crossed and although I was home all day I didn't get the clean. After my 4 hour window was almost past, I called and was told the cleaning had been cancelled and that I had missed the technician. There was nothing I could do about it, I was in a bind, and there would be no additional slots before Thanksgiving. I was not happy. A few weeks later I received a call from Steam Team offering to send a technician to my house for free to make up for the missed appointment. At this point I had started a remodel and the carpet that I had originally wanted cleaned had already been removed. I was told that wasn't a problem and that the technician would clean whatever I wanted him to clean to make up for the missed appointment. The technician this time showed up on time and was very courteous and thorough. I had him clean some coffee stains from my stairs as well as a few area rugs, he offered to clean the entire house but I didn't want to be greedy with his time. Although the thanksgiving error was unfortunate, I do feel like the Steam Team did what they could to make things right and I would be happy to give the service another chance if I am in need of carpet cleaning. read more

We moved into a house temporarily and guess what, the carpets were disgusting. Imagine stains, gunky stuff rubbed into the carpet creating more stains, and the main walking areas being so worn out that the carpet's original square pattern was non-existent except in the corners of the rooms. We had two options, either change the carpets or have them cleaned. The price quote for changing the carpets was in the thousands of dollars, and definitely not something worth spending on a house that you're not permanently living in. So we decided to have the carpets cleaned instead, and after reading all the positive reviews on yelp, I decided to call the Steam Team. The man (Alex) arrived right on time, and was truly a professional. Very clean cut, well-mannered, and most importantly, he knew his stuff and performed his job with care. When he was finished, I inspected the rooms and I was stunned. All the stains and gunk were gone in five of the rooms, and only in the sixth room did two stains very slightly remain and they're barely noticeable. Since these stains were originally covered in a sticky gunk (and who knows for how many years), I am impressed he managed to clean it so well. (I was certain that the carpet in this particular room wouldn't come clean no matter how hard he tried, and would need to changed). I was wrong, it really looks great. If the carpeting wasn't so worn down in the entrance areas of the other rooms, they could have passed for new carpets. The cleaning greatly exceeded my expectations. The final price was higher than what was quoted on the phone by about $130, but this is also because we added the option of having each room disinfected. For an additional cost per room (I think it was about $25 and we disinfected six rooms), they spray a disinfectant that sinks into the padding under the rugs and kills all bacteria etc.. Not being happy to live on a previous tenant's carpet, I clearly jumped on this option (since you never know what's taken place on a carpet). However, had I not included this option, the price quote given over the phone was accurate. I had also measured each room before calling (it only took a few minutes) and was able to give them a pretty exact square footage, so in exchange they gave me a pretty exact price quote. I recommend everyone does this to avoid any surprises. The only constructive criticism I can offer the company is to mention all the additional options available over the phone, so people can better budget/prepare for them. And for anyone having their carpets cleaned just be sure to: 1. Measure the rooms being cleaned for an accurate phone estimate. Ask about any other options in addition to the basic cleaning. (Disinfecting option is worth it). 2. Move as much furniture out of the rooms as you can. Take everything off the floors and put them somewhere else (do this yourself before they arrive) so when the cleaner arrives, he can focus on cleaning instead of re-arranging furniture. 3. Open all the blinds and turn on all the lights so they can see very well. That's all we did and we had excellent results. PS. This company would be perfect if they started using natural/organic cleaning chemicals. read more

Roman and his associate came to clean our ductwork. He quickly determined that our older square ducts might be damaged by their rotatary cleaning system, but also observed that our ducts were actually quite clean. I'd already removed a few duct registers and thought the ducts looked pretty good, which Roman's diagnosis confirmed. He suggested just spraying their anti-mold concoction into the ducts, since mold was my impetus for this visit. They also replaced our 40 year old ugly duct registers with new ones we already bought at Home Depot. Roman adjusted the price for this visit, which was not what I had specified initially. Because of our dogs (and cat) we have to have our carpet professionally cleaned annually (barf happens). They were thorough, professional, friendly, and did an OUTSTANDING job! Of course, a couple of days AFTER I had my steam team appointment, lo and behold Steam Team has a groupon for carpet cleaning services. Just my luck! Well I still consider myself pretty lucky to have my fellow yelpers back up the Steam Team enough to have me book an appointment with them. My carpet, while not completely atrocious, had seen better days. There were definitely some spots of noticeable high traffic dirt that a regular ol' vacuum just couldn't hang with. My kitchen tile was worst. "Dear, that grout isn't suppose to be dark grey right?" A quick check of the tile in another less trampled on spot proved just that. Indeed..that grout is and at some point "used to be white". Ick. Appointment set up was effortless. I set mine online, mentioned the $99 for 3 rooms carpet special and $99 for up to 250 ft worth of tile and grout and was all set. Got an email to confirm appointment date and a call reminder the day before. I wasn't around when Steam Team arrived, but my husband did say they were very efficient, professional, and careful with our furniture (they do some general moving). When I got home, all the dark carpet spots were gone. The house smelled "clean" and I was no longer staring at "dark grey" grout. I'd say Steam Team removed 90% of the dirt and stains. Not quite brand spankin' new looking, but a hell of a lot better then I could ever accomplish myself. A few days later, while hosting a brunch, I got lots of compliments on the house and specifically how nice the carpet was (people took their shoes off without me asking!). I never knew carpet steaming and tile buffing could be so satisfyingly exciting until I saw the "after" of my appointment. We sent them links for items that we liked such as a tub that was around $900 at HD, but the unit price for the tub listed on their estimate was more than double that price- and this was the same for other items as well. I really hate to not give a perfect score to these guys, but I can't look past the cost. When I scheduled my cleaning for my L-shaped couch, I was given a quote of 120-150. Sounded reasonable. However, when the guys arrived at my house, he said it was going to cost 220 (240 after tax). I understand that the quote I was given over the phone was just an estimate - but TWICE THE PRICE???? I'm moving this month, and moving is expensive. Honestly, I didn't have an extra 120 bucks to spare. That being said, they still earned 4 stars in my book because their actual work was great. My couch looks fabulous! The two men who did the cleaning were incredibly professional and nice. I was somewhat nervous about being home alone with strangers (I'm sort of paranoid), but these guys were not shady looking or anything that made me feel uncomfortable. They did ask if I wanted the spots on my carpets cleaned, but did not push it when I said no. I did not feel pressured at all to buy more from them. When it comes time to do another cleaning, I will most likely use The Steam Team. However, I hope I get a different person to do the cleaning because whoever cleans your stuff gets to set the price (I assume, because that's what my cleaner guy did). read more

After several offers of free carpet and tile cleaning after the contracting for kitchen went so wrong. I took them up on it and let them clean. They did a great job on the carpets. I could see a difference in the tile, but I had already cleaned the grout with a natural acid that restored it. At least the cleaning part of the company does a good job. read more

We moved in to a new apartment recently, and noticed that the carpet, even though it was supposedly cleaned, was so dirty. We take off our shoes inside the house, and we noticed that by the end of the day our feet were black! So we decided to call Steam Team, after reading good reviews here on yelp and seeing their commercial on TV. The guy showed up and looked around our place, and we asked him if the estimate the phone lady gave us was correct. He said no. We were thinking, oh no, its going to be much more expensive just like the yelp reviewers said. But no, he said, its actually cheaper! So its great to know that they go both ways on the estimate, over or under. +1 for honesty. Then, the guy says that he needs to access water from inside the house because there aren't any water faucets outside, and then he realizes that his hose is too short to reach into our sink. At this point we're thinking, oh no, its almost 5 pm, he's going to have this rescheduled. But no, he asks me if I can borrow a hose from the building maintenance people. Since it was the weekend, we couldn't find anyone on the property, so I decided to quickly run to the nearest hardware store and buy a hose. He patiently waited for me to return with a hose, then hooked everything up, and started cleaning. We were very happy with the results, and the price. read more
