Great experience for an early evening dinner. The entrance is impressive (nice beer garden outside,…read moremedieval style door) and we were offered a very friendly greeting upon entering. We reserved a table online, and when we arrived there was a small table set up in one of the side rooms by the fireplace. Our server was lovely-- asked about allergies, checked on us often (but not too often), answered questions as needed, etc. We shared two entrees and a dessert and it was plenty. The steak pie was particularly good, and perfect with the pours of cask ales. It is fun to dine in a historic pub that also has good service and modern comforts.

I really liked this pub which has a substantial garden (a comparative rarity in the north,…read moreupsettingly) and a very good menu of above average dishes including some lovely starters (dressed crab, pate) and a broad range of mains including traditional options such as a Yorkshire board and pie and more modern choices such as a sweet potato risotto. My friends commented that the ham on the Yorkshire board was the best they'd had in a long time; I thought their Wensleydale was the best I'd ever had. When we were there they were hosting a Fentimans sponsored gin festival, which added to the fun. The only thing that marred the experience was that they messed up our food order so mine never came and in the end I had to go back into the pub and enquire, which itself took about 10 minutes to sort. They'd delivered the food to the wrong table so basically my friends had all finished before I got mine, bizarre mix up given our server really should have noticed that she'd only given 3 people food. Wouldn't put me off going back or recommending though, as it was really good quality food, especially the Yorkshire board. Note the main courses are mainly over £10 so look for the sandwiches if you're on a budget.

Ok - so we popped into here on a day trip to Haworth and after arriving and perusing around 8…read morepotential tea and cake places, I really do feel we struck gold with this choice! They're called a coffee house but they also have as equally as good tea menu and it's amazing to see so many different blends on offer. The cake menu is also huge and all are baked fresh each day - in fact it was so good that I really wanted 2 slices but maybe my heart was pleased that that didn't happen... All I'll say is that the orange and almond cake was delicious and so so moist - yum! The real 5 star hero of this place though is the owner who was just really lovely! Very accommodating to our 2 year old daughter, she was also super friendly and welcoming to us - plus really went the extra yard by selling us some lovely ham for our picnic after all the nearby shops were shut - really nice extra touch and just massively genuine! I'd highly recommend this place if you're in the area - it's even worth a drive out to if you're not!

My friend and I happened to spot this on the way back to our B&B. On first impressions it was so…read moreelegant and spacious. We pulled our chairs up to the fire, I ordered a (dark) hot chocolate which probably rates as one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had (I forgot to ask what the brand was, d'oh!)! My only gripe was the brownie, it was too dense and moist, more like a biscuit cake - almost like it was uncooked? Brownies are so varied though, so this just wasn't to my taste. The friendly young waitress chatted to us and offered us a homemade biscotti, I was hesitant, as I don't like the prepacked version, but this was divine! I only wish I'd bought some on the way out, as they have them to sell. Next time I'm back in the village I will seriously consider booking this B&B. Thank you for a wonderful final afternoon in Haworth! (Visited November 2012)
