Hey, a book shop, I love book shops. Lets go inside and add to my already ridiculous collections of books. Well, it seems this is mostly just new books, and yeah, it's like right next to a cinema so you can probably guess what you are going to find here. Is it related to a film? No? Well, sorry, then I guess it isn't in stock. Hey, that isn't a really big problem, particularly since, as you know, the book is always better than the film, that is of course if the book isn't actually based on the film - yeah, those types of books are actually pretty dreadful. read more
This is a great bookshop. Sharing the gorgeous Art Deco space that is Sun Theatre, the Sun Bookshop is a perfect place to kill time before a movie or bring something to take home afterward. The service is helpful and attentive, particularly useful if you're shopping for someone else or looking for something new to read. While other reviewers have mentioned their prices are a tad on the high side, as is unfortunately the case for many an independent bookstore, it's a lovely spot for gift shopping as they do have a beautiful collection of quite unique books around arts, music and hobbies. Perfect for gifts and to enjoy a peaceful moment of book browsing. read more

An editor friend had recommended I visit Sun Books as part of my search for a local history book that the indie stores in my neighbourhood are currently sold out of. I didn't find it (in fact, the local history section was virtually non-existent) but I did find a fantastic selection of books on architecture and design. It wasn't the widest collection, but those titles they did stock were well chosen. I say this because there were three titles featuring my dream man, Kevin McCloud, the very sexy silver fox from Grand Designs. Kevin aside, the store itself is warm and inviting. The small space is absolutely bursting with books, and sections are clearly marked. They have a wall with recommended titles, which is always helpful when you're looking for gifts. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable (something you won't get if you go to a chain store), and the shop itself smells of buttery popcorn thanks to the fact it's housed within the cinema. Note- Young adult and children's titles are in the shop across the street. read more
Love this shop. Great if you're waiting for your movie to start or to browse afterwards. Or if you're just in the area! Sooooo convenient. Staff are super friendly and helpful. If you're buying a book as a gift they will wrap it up for you! Prices aren't what you would expect if you were at Kmart or something, but there are some really great finds here (all genres) so it's worth it. read more

This place has an amazing vibe. Such a cosy place devoted to sharing the written word! There is a Young adult and children's section across the street too, in it's own tiny little shop that is my go-to place for kids birthday presents. The staff is warm and friendly. And occasionally they have a few teens working in the smaller shop who really know their books! I was very impressed. My only problem with this place is that they are a bit expensive. That being said, I will go here to buy gifts for other people because I can afford to splurge on books when they are gifts (for others not myself). read more

Why would you go anywhere else to buy a book? The staff are all wonderful, cheerful and friendly, and give fabulous recommendations. They really know their stock and will even order in obscure things for you on request! It's located in the Art Deco Sun Theatre building, in (it turns out) the old candy bar space - always a quant, quirky and welcoming little shop, the recent renovations have made it so much better - its light, bright, warm and full to the brim with amazing books! I love this shop. read more
