Words do not exist for me to explain how awesome our guide Cadia was. Her love and devotion to nature was something to behold. She was almost evangelical in her zeal for the outdoors. We were so fortunate to have Cadia as our guide for a Byers Lake Nature Walk. Every minute in her company was pure joy as we pulled off to the side of the road to see a majestic moose, learned about the edible berries and leaves around the lake, and learned about and listened to the cries of the loon among other gems. Cadia gave our tour some added value by taking us to a few Denali Mountain viewing platforms. She was one of the very best tour guides I have ever had.

There were a few moments where it looked like we were about to brush up against a mountain wall, but we were actually still a few hundred feet away--it just didn't feel like it from the window seat. Luke, our pilot, made sure both sides of the plane got great views and photo ops. The scenery was constantly changing and completely breathtaking. To their credit, the company refunded us half the cost because of the shortened flight and missed glacier landing, which we really appreciated.

The views were incredible, and for most people, this is as close as you'll ever get to summiting Denali! Talkeetna Aero Services was great. Besides a few roller coaster moments due to turbulence, it was a great ride. One warning for folks like me with ear issues--the cabin's not pressurized, and you do get high--10K feet, which was hard on my ears. But within a day of being back on terra firma, my ears were okay again.
