For all of us Generation X folks this is not our Swamp Room of the 90's and 00's. The Swamp Room has grown up, renovated and you no longer have to cut the cigarette smoke with a knife before entering. The Swamp burger is still there, except now I am not getting it at 3am, I am more of a 3pm guy these days. On a recent trip I ordered some wings with 'Kickin' Bourbon Sauce". The wings had that perfect crisp skin, but the meat was still juicy. The sauce was a little too sweet for me though so I will get a different flavor next time. The onions rings were a large portion and came in that Popeye's style batter that I like. Tons of tv's to watch the games, lots of beer on tap, and great bar food. Great place to day drink. It was about 10:45pm and the place was busy but not overcrowded and service was great. We ordered drinks and food at the bar and then sat with our friends. Not from Louisiana.. here for work. So we have been hitting up story's bars for the football games. Sat at the bar on a Saturday. Decent crowd. Bartender she was very nice and attentive. Ordered from mini taco and spinach and artichoke dip. I was not impressed. This is the same crap you can get from Sam's club in the frozen aisle. We ate the mini tacos. But the slimy dip was worse. Unfortunately for us will will not be back for the bar trash frozen food. I did like the fact that they played the sound of a game instead of playing music. read more

Love it. RITA the Bartender is the best. She's super experienced and cute. Way older than she looks! I wish the bar organized the liquor better for fast access for bartenders on the weekend bc it doesn't really make sense the way it is now (I'm a Bartender myself). Swamp room has always been a hub since I was in high-school 15 years ago and continues to be a solid late night choice. The pool tables felt were very decent quality and a lot of stick options though a few were shattered. Haven't been to Swamp Room in years but would frequent the old location when Metairie friends suggested we'd go. Living in New Orleans, it's not often I visit Metairie but on the chance I do, checking out a bar/restaurant with good atmosphere and food is a must. I enjoyed dining at Swamp Room but I was underwhelmed. I was sure I enjoyed it years back but when I read the menu, nothing really called out. I decided to get the corn fritters and wings. I've had better corn fritters and the wings were just ok. Bartender was very nice and happy hour made it a plus but it wasn't a visit I'll suggest again. I remember the nights were so busy at Swamp Room so maybe lunch just isn't the time to go. The place was clean and folks were nice just food/drink wasn't worth the $40. read more

The Swamp Room is the place to go for one of the best burgers you've ever had. Cooked to order with whatever you want on it (I recommend fully dressed) and the appetizers and tasty and affordable. To begin this place easily has the biggest and meatiest chicken wings I've ever even seen. Not to mention how delicious with their hot Buffalo sauce! I'm not big on steak fries but something about these I really enjoy. I'm here almost every Wednesday to play cornhole and the place is lovely. easily the worst burger I ever had. cheese was cold (right out of the fridge cold) , burger wasn't cooked, zero flavor in the few bites i did have and the icing on the cake was the ready made microwave bacon (also cold) that was on it. 13 dollars for that. Ok. I just can't go there anymore. I was craving a really good burger last night on the way home from running some errands. I asked my wife where she wanted to get a hamburger. I didn't think she would say Swamp Room because she got food poisoning last time we had hamburgers there. I remember back in the day, great hamburgers with mounds of melted cheese and cheese fries with more cheese than fries. We'll it ain't like that anymore. I'm living in the past, man.... Lately, the buns are cold, the shredded cheese is just as cold, and the cheese fries are mediocre at best. The crowd has really gone down too. Last month, I went to the swamp room and it was super fun with a great atmosphere! I have been here a few times in the past, and it's always been a fun time. It was pretty clean and had so many TVs to watch any big sports games that were on. The last time I went, I tried the steak fries which were thick and crispy and did not seem frozen at all! Was craving a Swamp Burger, as I had not had one in a while. I called in an order before I left work and they told me 10 minutes. That was cool, it would take me that long to get there. I arrive, go in and the place smelled rancid! Only two booths had guests and two guys on the other side of the bar. I waited about 5 minutes to get noticed, yes there was a bartender; however he never looked my way. Finally this young lady came out from the back and asked my name, she was actually clocking out. She went to the kitchen, came back and said it wasn't quite ready....two burgers, an order of fries and an order of onion rings. So I sat at the bar and waited. The bartender never asked if I wanted a drink, their loss because I probably would have been able to have two. If I had not already paid $48.00 for the food I would have left. Finally the food comes, dude hands it to me without saying a word. Get home and the meat was so mushy, like wet sawdust. Worse burger I have ever had. My husband wanted to bring them back.
