The pub is beautiful and cosy, the landlady was kind and cheerful and the food.....oh god, the food! We both had a starter of pigeon, not something you usually see on a pub menu and it was superbly cooked and tasted amazing. For my main I chose the steak burger with chips and onion rings, the burger was big, flavoursome and juicy and the touch I like is that the tomato ketchup on table was all homemade, not from a bottle! We will certainly come back to this awesome place if we are ever near the area again because it was outstanding!!

The menu had something for everyone and was much better than other pub menus that we have had during the course of the week. Food was fabulous. Staff were sooo friendly and attentive without being condescending (I hate that!). The layout of the pub restaurant was lovely. If you wanted privacy you could have it but we were happy to have a sociable evening with other patrons and the staff. So glad we ignored the very old review. We have booked to return on Friday!

The experience was less than satisfactory from the very start. When greeted "a loose description" I asked if we could sit anywhere. The surly response from the female server was "Are you eating", to which I said yes please although we haven't booked. This was met with a look of contempt and faux scratching at a piece of paper and frowning to suggest they couldn't seat us, but then behold they could fit us in, I will add there was no one in the restaurant seated at this point and it still wasn't full an hour and 20 minutes later when we left. We sat and the drinks order was taken. Upon me taking jest from my friend, my wife apologised to the server and his response was "it's OK I have to deal with people like that all of the time". In hindsight this was not a polite comment meant in a lighthearted way as we were to discover. The drinks came and we ordered our food, A trio of meats sharing platter, the pork and a Beef Wellington, I will add no price was displayed on the specials board for the Beef, which I thought was a legal requirement? 30 minutes later the platter came out, we were going to wait for a few minutes but started as there was no sign of the other food. The only food on our plates remotely warm was the carrots, bearing I mind the platter plate had been preheated as had our plates. Having waited for 30 minutes already we started to eat it. We were the first people to be served Sunday lunch, so how it was cold I have no idea. The other food came out 5 to 10 minutes later, also cold. We mentioned this to Brandon and he offers to replace the vegetables, to which we collectively said no thank you as we had waited 30 to 40 minutes already. He later felt the need to correct us as to the time we had waited and it had only been 20. I appreciate this may be what the system says, but this would be dependant on it being ordered straight away, which it clearly hadn't. When the bill check we had a coffee and the 2 "hot" cold chocolates taken off the bill. I mentioned I didn't think this was acceptable as all of the food was cold, to which we were corrected and contradicted by Brandon again. Personally I am appalled at the distinct lack of customer service, no real apology and cold food served as first service in your restaurant. I would also add when we left it was still not full. I am sure you will receive contradictory versions of this from the staff in question, however I would then happily put you in touch with my wife and 2 friends for their input into this. The spacious but low ceilinged interior is painted in pale greys and there's a decent sized beer garden (part of which is covered). They serve a standard pub menu with a decent choice of veggie options. Starters and bar snacks are available (£6-£8) with mains £12-£13.50. Main options include burgers, veggie chilli, lasagne, cod & chips, steak, and salads. There's also a pizza oven in the beer garden which serves all day and also does takeaway. On our first visit we chose burgers, which were well filled, with decent chips. We had pizza a couple of times, which were well topped, though the bases are clearly bought in. (Pizza seems to be the most popular option.) Greek salad on our fourth second visit was okay, with lots of feta cheese and olives, though a lump of soggy salad leaf at the bottom of the bowl was a bit off-putting. I can only conclude that they had prepared the salad some time earlier. Mains were generous so we found we didn't need a starter or have room for dessert. Beers include Woodford and Adnams, plus a fairly standard range of lagers, cider and wines. Service is efficient and cheerful.

Could be great but each time I have visited it seems a work in progress. Apart from the people who are actually holidaying in the very immediate vicinity, it is impossible to happen upon it as it is, as far as I can see, very difficult to find from the main road from Wroxham to Hoveton; it was my brother i law who was staying a few yards away that told me of it and it took me a while to find it. The first time I went there, in 2011, there was a large amount of beers displayed, the last time 2015 very few and just as well as with the footfall I saw, they would have thrown a lot away. I was there at a time of day when the Wroxham hotel bar and the Kings head would be heaving. I can only think that it is the lack of accessibility that holds it back. the only way I can see that you can get to it is approach the inside Marina which looks private, behind the boat workshops and walk past the holiday letting agents offices. I can see no way to it from the North end of the bridge as all the approaches are cut off by water. Shame; could be good as this area could do with another decent pub. LC 09 2015
