The Sweet Retreat is good, like very good, maybe even very goooooooooddd. So, yes I enjoyed it and we enjoyed it. Since it was Father's Day I treated myself to the Peanut Butter Heart Attack Sundae and wow, it was full of Peanut Butter flavor. If you're a nut for Peanut Butter, you'll go nutty for this terrific sundae that peanut butter sauce is amazing. They have about 20 ice cream flavors from Buckeye Fever, to Raspberry Sorbet and coffee to s'mores, it's really a good selection. They also have 30 soft serve ice cream flavors including the famous KI Blue (KI stands for King's Island, remember King's Island during their Smurf years?), which I'm totally trying next time for nostalgia reasons only. They have dole whip, I've heard their Ice Cream Nachos are very good (they have a cult following). They have slushies and smoothies and their rendition of the flurry, called "The Cyclone". Just walk up, ring the bell, grab a seat (seating is limited outside, there is no indoor seating) and wait for the staff to come who will order on a tablet and within minutes your order is ready. The price is good, the scoops are massive (look at my raspberry sorbet picture, that is the kiddie 1 scoop) and make the cost worth it. Enjoy this local of locals, it's awesome. Just wish the drive thru wasn't right next to the sitting area with no wall or fence or railing or nothing, with kids it felt a little unsafe, but hey at least it will teach your kids to pay attention. The quality of service and ice cream has declined this summer. The ice cream consistency of soft serve is often too soft and they just out our cones in a cup anyway. My family used to visit this place often but this summer has been disappointing. read more

I originally rated this business a 2 star based off the sorbet I didn't like very much. My boyfriend didn't care for his ice cream selection either. We recently decided to try something different there and give it a second try. I tried the blueberry pie ice cream in a cone and my boyfriend tried the raspberry cheesecake ice cream. Both are great. I'm not sure why people are claiming this place has good service because in the dozen times I have been, I have not seen it. The past two times I have gone we have been the only people in the drive through and it takes 30 minutes to get our order. These past two times also they have been out of moose tracks without advertising as such, so we pay, wait for 30 minutes and they come and tell us they're out. The girls working are sweet, but incredibly, incredibly slow. Some are 15 years old wearing Nike pro spandex with their bottoms out and the girl who gave us our ice cream 30 minutes past was wearing literal ugg house slippers. It seems as if there are no adults present and they have no structure on how to place and deliver orders to cars. There have been many times they walk past our car with our ice cream and wander around, to where we have to flag them down. Structure needs to be added to this establishment as well as some sort of uniform policy and additional adult supervision. Their ice cream is great, but the experience to get it is excruciating each time. read more

This shop was great the first two times that I went there, but there was this curly haired Caucasian guy that ignored me and served several other people ahead of me and did nothing to remedy the situation after finally deciding to serve me. This spot is amazing! They have 30 soft serve flavors and my husband and I highly recommend getting blueberry! The peanut butter is pretty tasty too! They have a gorgeous outdoor patio space with picnic tables that are covered with umbrellas. We haven't tried any food, but they offer a small list of yummy looking snacks too! If you live in the Belmont or Dayton area, it'd be super easy to walk here! Otherwise, they have a small parking lot in the back. read more

The much anticipated opening of this little gem of a local I've cream shop was more than I could have even hoped for. They cleaned the shop up and it's decor is adorable. There is an outdoor seating area out front and outback. The staff is so friendly, happy and helpful. We have stopped in twice now and had four different hand dips: s'mores, buckeye, birthday cake and salted caramel pretzel. The s'mores was sweet and delicious, but slightly lacking in marshmallow flavor for me. Still amazing though. The buckeye was everything you know and love from chocolate peanut butter combinations. The birthday cake was some of the best I have had, y'all there are icing swirls and real cake pieces. The salted caramel pretzel is dripping in caramel and the pretzels are chocolate dipped so they stay crunchy. So so good, very salty, so steer clear if you aren't a salted caramel fan. The small touches of this place tip it over for me... They have color changing spoons. They are white until you dip them in, and go blue where they are cold. We will be back again and again to try more flavors and some for thier 24+ soft serves, maybe even some hot food too. Welcome to the neighborhood y'all. read more

I was really looking forward to them opening but was a bit disappointed. The guys that helped me were great but the ice cream it's self was just OK and I thought the prices were a bit on the high side. I'm not an adventurous eater so I'll just stick with chocolate ice cream but I can get better elsewhere for a lower price. They need to find a different chili for the hotdogs as well. It just had a strange flavor to it. If I am in the area and want ice cream I'll probably stop in but I won't make a special trip. read more

Aaaamazing! I'm not even that big of a hand dip ice cream fan but I LOVED what I tried here! I was going to get one of their 24 soft serves but the pumpkin hand dip caught my eye and it did not disappoint! It basically tasted like pumpkin pie without the crust mixed into ice cream with the perfect amount of pumpkin pie spice! Loved it! My husband got the buckeye. I'm not a huge chocolate fan but I tried a bite of his and it was Delicious! Wonderful amount of peanut butter. Basically I tried everything I don't care for and loved it! I can only imagine how awesome the things I do like taste! Looking forward to visiting again! read more

Locally owned ice cream shop!! So close that our kids can ride their bikes for a treat. Over 30 kinds of soft serve!! The kids love getting their cards punched so they can try every flavor. The waffle cones are awesome! Buckeye fever is my favorite hand dip. KI blue tastes like we are at Kings Island. We can get ice cream for 5 people for under $13. They also treat our community amazing by throwing a free party at the end of the season. Support this awesome local business! read more
