We stumbled on this neat little place on our last visit to Athens. It's a small place with an interesting vibe and a great menu. We started with the crabcake appetizer, which was very good. My wife had the special, grouper with shrimp. It was well plated and delicious. I ordered the seafood fettuccine, mussels, clams, shrimp scallops and whitefish over fettuccine. Again, tasty and nicely plated. Tiramisu finished off the meal. It's a little hard to find, so call for directions if you have any questions about where they are. read more

The Table Bistro offers elevated American style dishes with a healthier twist. Ingredients are fresh and menus are seasonal due to ingredient sourcing, but you can always count on great salads topped with a fish fillet year round. This restaurant is only staffed by only 2 people, one as the chef, and one as the server, so service and food prep can be quite slow on busier days, but the waitress is super super nice. Very limited seating indoors and limited hours (just for lunch) can make it difficult to find the time to go here, and may not be a good choice for larger parties as their tables only have up to 4 seats. The menu items are well priced ($10-$20) and offer large portions. Good parking behind the back of the apartment complex this restaurant is located in, although the street can be narrow at times with large vehicles. read more

Outstanding restaurant. A hidden gem in an unassuming location. They're only a 2-person operation with solid attention to the little details. The menu's up on the wall, in perfect handwriting, but they automatically provide printed menus at each table. I had the Tomato Diablo (spicy fettuccine) with shrimp. We were so disappointed that The Table Bistro refused to sit us. My family came at opening to beat the rush. There were four of us (2 adults, 2 children) and my in-laws (2 adults), so a party of 6. Even though the restaurant was empty and there was only one other couple there, the hostess refused to sit us because we were larger than a party of 4. There was a table large enough for us to sit (with even more room!) and she still refused. I don't understand - if we came separate from our in-laws within 5 minutes you would have sat us, but because we came together you say no? It's the same amount of food and work. I'm so sad and frustrated that we didn't get to even try and they have now lost our business. read more

The Table Bistro is incredibly cozy, situated on the bottom story of a small apartment complex and run by a Korean couple who split the duties of cooking and servicing customers. The meals are well priced ($10-20 range for most items), and the staff was so friendly. Don't pay attention to the folks who give them low stars because their hours are weird-- their hours are on Google, Yelp, etc., so it's not the The Table Bistro's fault that these folks showed up when they were closed. I only gave a 4 instead of 5 stars because my chicken pesto pasta (pictured) was a little flavorless, which is disappointing for a pesto based dish. But my Girlfriend's Salmon dish was amazing so I'm giving the kitchen the benefit of the doubt that my dish was an exception. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. read more

This is truly a hidden gem which we found by serendipity. It has some odd hours and was open on Friday for dinner only from 5pm-6:30pm. The food and service were excellent! I was intrigued because the average rating is so high. So I decided to try this place out tonight. It was kind of hard to find. It's on the side of a building between buildings that looks like an apartment complex. But the interior looks much more like a nice cafe than a restaurant. I got the Crab stuffed Blackened Salmon and I loved it. It is a little spicy, so definitely stay away if you can't handle a bit of heat. It had a rice pilaf, a rich creamy sauce, and a medley of many vegetables on top that I couldn't tell you what they were (because they were all piled on top of each other). I think there was plantains on top (slightly sweet) and plaintain chips. Veggies that I recognized was some kind of charred pepper, tomatoes, and microgreens/herbs. I think it was a pretty decent portion size. The salmon and crab were hidden under a lot, but they were obviously the star of the show taste-wise. We also got the special soup and the squash casserole. These were mediocre and I wouldn't recommend it. The soup was a green-ish color and was sweet. It kind of tasted like butternut squash soup but it didn't look like it. The squash casserole had an array of veggies, but the squash itself was quite bland and overdone. Not that much flavor so I would say you can skip this. When we came in, it was really quiet and only one other table was there. The decor is cute and the fresh flowers are a nice touch. If you like some heat and seafood, you can't go wrong with the Crab stuffed blackened salmon. read more

I have tried to have lunch 2 out of the last 4 days at this location. The menu and shared photos are very enticing. However, they are not staffed for lunch time business. Both days have had 45 minute waits for food but with open tables inside. The establishment is only open till 1:30p each day so if you plan to patron this business , go early. read more

This humble little restaurant is barely noticeable in the back of a Baxter condo complex with ground-floor commercial space, it's open only a few hours a day, and its bare-bones website barely gives you an idea of what it is and what it can do. But Table Bistro is one of the best restaurants in town. The owners and/or operators are Korean, but this is not a Korean restaurant or even a Korean "fusion" restaurant. Instead, Table Bistro qualifies as "New American," a term that is widely used these days but, honestly, doesn't have all that much meaning. But, in short: This restaurant serves upscale, gourmet-level fare that smoothly incorporates a variety of culinary influences and a lot of locally-sourced ingredients. Asian (Japanese might be heavier than Korean) and Cajun-Creole notes stand out prominently, but they're usually tied together nicely by French- and Italian-cooking basics that often form the foundation of so-called "New American" menus. Anyway, the food is terrific: Lunch is a little "ladies luncheon"-ish, with lighter sandwiches and very fresh salads, but it's plenty good. But dinner gets more ambitious: There are sophisticated fish dishes, shrimp and grits, regular specials (steak au poivre seems pretty common), and so on. Last time I was there, I couldn't help but order the special, which was a pan-seared grouper with a miso beurre blanc over garlic and romano risotto. Not a perfect dish, but damned impressive looking and tasting, given that only the chef was back there in the kitchen, and very reasonably priced ($21?) for given the quality and the portion size. (You'd drop 30 bucks for a dish like this in bigger cities.) I don't really know how he does it, actually. Although the restaurant probably seats only 25 or 30, he's cooking and plating all by himself, at least on the last evening we were there. And the hostess/server was working the tables and the front of the house all by herself, and doing a great job as well. The restaurant, though diminutive, is airy and attractive and comfortable, with an open kitchen. Noise levels have been very reasonable on my couple of visits. Only drawback is the hours, which are only 5 to 7 in the evenings right now. Not sure that Table takes reservations, but, if not, that limited time slot could be tricky on the weekend. Outstanding! We came on a rainy Monday night and had the restaurant to ourselves, which was surprising given the quality of the experience. I think these guys are a hidden gem. I ordered the Southern Chicken Makeover and it was incredible. Flavor combinations are impressive and the bacon remained crispy despite being covered in a sauce so the textural component really added to each bite. It normally comes over squash but I was politely informed in advance they were out so I selected the roasted potatoes instead, and I can't imagine the dish withOUT the potatoes now. I'm pretty sure that I tasted some ginger in there that was unexpected and very welcomed. It was the kind of entree I took a bite of, chewed while looking inquisitively at the plate, then said "mmmmm." Yeah. That good. We got the bill and did a double-take, because our total was under $40 for what I'd call higher-end presentation and quality. The staff (husband and wife?) treated us very well. I am in town for the NGUMC Annual Conference and we came here at the suggestion of my friend, Casey Hughes. I looked at the website and saw the phrase "gluten free" and told her I was "skeered" to go there because it sounded too healthy. (I am not kidding ) We had six people in our party and it was 15 minutes before closing, but the owner assured us we were good to come in and enjoy! And we did! The menu is limited along with a couple of specials for the evening and this to me is what all smaller restaurants should do. Know what you do well and do that well! These folks have this mastered! I ordered the Blackened Salmon with a pineapple/jalapeño salsa on top! First impression? What a beautiful dish? Second? This is going to be spicy! Just the aroma made my eyes water! It was a perfect balance of sweet and spicy and something I would eat again. And again. And once more for good measure! I did not sample anything other than the bacon on one persons plate (really good!) and the macadamia nut encrusted flounder (not as good as mine). I split the peanut butter thingy for dessert and it was light, creamy and perfect completion to an excellent meal! Briefly; the atmosphere is bright, engaging and small.
