Absolutely terrible. I use the Putney branch all the time, which is fantastic. Found myself in the city and I thought I'd give this a go as I'd been building up a base tan before my holiday and I didn't want it to start to fade.
The experience was horrific from start to finish. Unlike the Putney branch where you register electronically the receptionist gave me a scrappy piece of paper for my details. She then tried to convince me that I should go on the sunbed for longer (I have pale skin and light hair and don't want to burn- I know my skin). On finally agreeing- angrily- to let me tan for 'only' 8 minutes, she told me I had 3 minutes to change. She didn't offer me eye protection- which I am pretty sure is illegal- and was quite shirty with me when I requested it. I then had three minutes- on a countdown timer- to change and get in to the bed. I have never been on a sunbed where your 'getting ready' time is limited, and it was actually quite stressful, given that I had 180 seconds to strip, tie my hair up and cover it, remove my make up and put on eye protection and cream. If that wasn't bad enough, the booth was absolutely filthy.
Anyway, all that was ultimately irrelevant as the tanning bed did not work. It turned on for thirty seconds, revealed that all the bulbs were dead except one, and then switched itself off. Despite this, the receptionist refused to check the sunbed, leave her post or offer me a refund. As she was the only member of staff there my complaints were futile. I spent £13 and wasted half an hour on absolutely nothing. Truly a horrendous experience- I won't be returning and I will be letting friends know that they shouldn't either.
If you are looking for a good tanning shop, the one in Putney, although a little out of the way, is excellent. Clean new functioning equipment, friendly helpful staff and a relaxing environment in which to tan. Couldn't recommend it more. read more
