This place seems like a dive bar but trying hard to be up scale. The good: the cocktails were absolutely delicious. The seasonal cocktail were on point The drag show was entertaining. They were fabulous performers. The staff was fun and friendly, it wasn't really their fault with the problems that follow. The bad: For noon reservations for drag brunch, they were not ready at all. It was $35 a person for the reservation. It seems a bit steep, however the show was good. When I say they weren't ready, they really were on a struggle bus. We had a couple cocktails and I believe every one else had the $25 bottomless mimosas. However, they didn't have the champagne in stock so many people had to wait for a drink. And once they for them, it was hard to keep their glasses full with the lack of staff. We ordered food and it took FOREVER! I mean, we almost left because all we had in our stomach was coffee from the morning and a couple cocktails. Let me remind you that our reservation was for noon. We did not get our food until 2:30. I was getting quite nauseated. I ordered the chicken and French toast, I asked for no maple syrup but it was doused in it. It was ok. I ate the chicken. TL:DR- cocktails were good, the show was good. Came for happy hour and got the $14 charcuterie board, $8 old fashioned and glass of wine. The happy hour wine was whatever is on tap. I was sad that they only had a rose available since I'm usually a red wine drinker. The charcuterie board was a good snacking size for two to three people and great for the price. It came with three kinds of cheese, bread, olives, mustard, pepper jam, pecans, tomatoes, blueberries and granola. Service was friendly but casual. The bartender had to check what wine was on tap when I asked and they were also testing out their old fashioned recipe. read more

I was offered a complimentary meal and returned in hopes of a better experience. I was definitely pleased with this visit, the bartender working Friday during happy hour was very friendly and chatted with me while I sat at the bar. I visited solo and she made it feel like I wasn't there alone. She recommended a strawberry margarita, which I ordered and absolutely enjoyed. One thing I can say about Tasting Room is that the drinks are on point. This was definitely in my top five for great margaritas around the city. As for the food, they were trying out baked wings as a new addition to the menu. Looking for something low in carbs and dairy, I decided to try it out. While the wings had a great light flavor and went well when dipped in the ranch and buffalo sauce provided, they were not baked long enough. The skin was fatty and had to be taken off to eat. Since frying them would have crisped the skin nicely and made it more enjoyable to eat the skin, it definitely should have been baked longer and coated in an oil such as olive oil to give it more crisp or the skin fully removed. We went for burlesque brunch. The show was so much fun. We really enjoyed the vibe, the entertainers and the bottomless mimosas.. but we ordered brunch before the show started and unfortunately never got our food. I was looking forward to my shrimp and grits. They said the kitchen is small and just gets backed up. But everyone around us got their food.. the table right next to us even got a second round.. an order of truffle fries which shelled really good. This was my first visit to the tasting room, I was a little upset that they stopped the upstairs outside seating, but it still turned out to be a great first visit. We ordered the bubbly flights and the bourbon flights and for my entree I order the chicken sandwich with wedges. The chicken sandwich was salty and didn't include the egg like I saw on the video I'm not sure if that's extra or not. Although the sandwich was wasn't seasoned to my liking it wasn't overbearing so I was still able to eat it. The potato wedges were cooked to perfection. Looking through Yelp and found the Tasting Room. Decided to come because of their happy hour. Sent out a text and I was planning a group gala. On the day we selected the weather was horrible, lots of rain. My group dwindled but a few was still in We ordered the cheese board. Great cheese accompanied by some hot toasted bread with fabulous jams. Berries and nuts to round it off. It was great I ordered the house Sauvignon Blanc ...tap wine is never cold enough for me. Tionna really liked the Blanc. In the end I changed because Tito is a well drink. The ambiance is great. Truly New Orleans style. Parking was easier because it is at the end of Magazine 3 hours later we still here. We order a chicken sandwich. Bite into it and the texture spells raw. Tionna puts on the flashlight and it is pink. When we send it back someone comes out and explain their process. Nothing they said accounted for raw. At the end of the day a simple apology for the rawness would have been sufficient Did not stop our party. Our bartender Teddy actually came and apologized, asked us what could he do to keep us satisfied. That made our wine drinking butts happy. Our reply was keep the bottles coming. I came here for a drag brunch on Halloween. This was my first time here. We walked in and were greeted and seated in a timely manner. The ambience here is really nice. There were only 2 servers and they were really busy. 3 pepper in my party ordered drinks but I was still deciding. It took me a few more minutes but my server never came back. After 16 minutes of waiting for the server to come back I flagged down the other server to take my order. I think the servers were also bartending. Our drinks were really good. We all enjoyed those. The food was meh. I ordered a steak board and when it arrived it was the same thing another member of my party ordered. Steak and eggs with no board. When I asked the server why I didn't get the steak board she told me it was the steak board. I asked why it looked identical to the steak and eggs plate and she tried to convince me it was different. It was the same right down to the raspberry on the salad. Another member of my party had burned eggs. My eggs were just dry. I ordered the steak medium and it was definitely medium well. The salad was the saddest part about the plate. The price for the plate definitely wasn't worth it. I would've given a 1 but I gave the staff some leeway as it isn't their fault that they didn't have enough of their coworkers on the schedule to help out. This small and quiet place located at the top of Magazine St. Was perfect Monday Night Date Night! Customer service was AWESOME! Especially considering the bartender doubled as the waiter too. This establishment originally opened up with its main focus being on wine tasting along with having some good pasta options. The pasta restaurant has now relocated to the Bywater and the bar has greatly extended their offerings beyond just wine to also offer booze and beer. They do offer some snacks here with small plates that can go well with your drinks along with some larger plates for a full meal experience. Overall this is a nice little spot that you could easily go past without noticing it if you don't pay attention so if you're in the Lower Garden District make sure to investigate all the interesting small shops on Magazine Street like this one. First of all the lighting and the decor is so gorgeous and makes you think why would you want to hang out in a dive bar! This is right around the corner! Fries were plain and cold when they came out after 40 min (were advertised as Parmesan fries). French toast came out at 50 min. In regular sandwich bread and not Texas toast with whisky caramel sauce as described on menu... for $20!!! I don't mind paying good money for food but this is atrocious. Like, McDonald's equivalent. I'm also a happy tipper because these streets are rough for the service industry. My review would have been one star if not for awesome drag performance that my niecephew loved. read more

I saw this place on tiktok and it had good reviews so I was excited to go. My experience could be isolated due to short staffing. I overheard the wait staff saying they'd recently loss a chef. We waited well over a hour for our food. They did give us French fries to eat on while we waited. By we I mean every patron. No one had any food on their tables and every table was brought out French fries. I think most people waited a lot longer than we did for entrees. The menu is already limited and everything was not available. Sadly the chicken sandwich wouldn't be enough to make me go back and endure the wait. (3 stars really are solely for the waitress and $25 bottomless mimosas) The bottomless mimosa was a good deal. The waitress was very nice. Wow! This new and improved Tasting Room has such a fancy feel! Walking in, you immediately see beautiful Entryway seating, which is colorful, comfortable, and so so inviting. They maintained the exposed brick, which gives the space a nice loft feel. Each of the tables in the main bar area has seats with 2-person high-backs, which is romantic. The gleaming chandeliers play well with the colorful art and wine decor. They have a 4-7 weeKday happy hour, which includes $5 wines, cheese plates, and charcuterie plates. They typically offer a red, white, and Rosé wine choice during happy hour. Additionally, all cheeses and meats on their happy hour special are chef choice. I enjoyed their house Pinot Noir, which was medium bodied with a fruit-forward finish. I opted to get the cheese and charcuterie on one platter for $10. Tasting room Magazine Street is one of the calmest and most unique areas the city has to offer. You can easily find charming boutiques, grocery stores and great eateries just by taking a stroll. When looking for what I thought would be a great happy hour to catch up with my cousin, @tastingroomnola came to mind. I thought it was a no-brainer when I saw seven dollar charcuterie boards and five dollar house wines and "magazine margaritas", but that was just the tip of the iceberg. We went after work, and when we got there, we were given the option to sit inside or outside. We sat outside, where there was a nice breeze and we were the only ones out there. The young man told us our server would be with us shortly. Moments later, she arrived asking what we would like to drink. I ordered a margarita and my cousin ordered the House wine. Immediately after we ordered, a table was sat right next to us. Minutes passed, and our server dropped off the drinks then immediately went to the next table. We caught her before going back inside and asked her if we could order one cheeseboard and one meat board. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the table next to us received their cooked food (fries, meatballs, etc.), and we had yet to receive our food. Due to the flies, we asked our server if we could move inside, she rolled her eyes saying "hold up, let me get the manager". He never came so we stood up, walked to the doorway, and waited until we were asked if there was anything we needed. Of course after expressing our concerns, we were seated inside. By now I had noticed that yet another couple, who was not there when we arrive had received both drinks and food. We again waved the server over to ask the status of our food. She said hold on and went back behind the bar, not the kitchen. At this point, I am bothered so I stopped the manager and explained that all we ordered were the two boards, and we've been waiting over 30 minutes. By now, two additional tables were seated and received their food. He apologized, went to the kitchen, and came back empty-handed. He stated that it will be up soon, the chef apologizes and he would adjust the bill. ‍ As he went to the bar by the computer the waiter stated, "what do they want now since I'm doing such a bad job." The manager waved her off. Eventually we received our boards, but honestly by then my experience was ruined. The space is very small. There aren't many tables, including the small patio, which is not a problem but the guests can literally see and hear everything. Checked out The Tasting Room Happy Hour and you really can't go wrong with $7 Meat Boards & $7 Cheese Boards! The meat & cheese were all delicious--I loved it, and it is one of the best food-related happy hour deals I've come across. Two cocktails offered for $5 during Happy Hour include the Old Fashion and the Margarita. I wasn't a big fan of either of these drinks, but it wasn't bad for the price. I also tried the House White Wine which was also $5, but it was way too sweet for me. Our waitress recommended this chocolate dessert, and it was fantastic! The fresh fruit and basil really made this a great dessert. Overall, very good happy hour deals and food, but I would probably order a more expensive and tastier drink! I was their lucky winner for their IG valentine dinner giveaway. I arrive at our rsvp time and was greeted by Falyn (i believe thats her name). We were the first one there and was able to choose where we wanted to sit. She immediately took our drink orders. They had a prefix menu so the only thing we were able to choose was which entrée we wanted. The menu started with a charcuterie board. Appetizer was tricolor potatoes, which was delish. My main meal was the spicy gulf pasta and my boyfriend got the petite filet over a crispy potato croquette. Dessert was a raspberry cobbler with ice cream on top. The overall the meal itself tasted great! However, the service seem a bit all over the place. Falyn was awesome but the other two that brought out our food and refilled our drinks, seem to be a bit frazzle. The manager rarely did anything to help the staff that evening. One of the employees dropped a dirty fork on the floor and the manager looked at it then left it there. Bread fell to the floor and he left it there. He didn't wear his mask the entire time we were there. Even greeted other patrons without it on, just hanging underneath his chin. In town for a couple of nights - staying at the Downtown end of Magazine - found this place close by - good reviews but not a ton of them YET. And that's the key, people: YET. So glad I listened to my inner food snob because this place is LEGIT. Classy but relaxed, attractively laid out, but still simple. Great lighting, good music - the ambience alone is worth coming back for. And then there's Shauna, who is delightful and engaging and a second reason for coming back - repeatedly. And then there's the food. Here's what I had, imported right out of the menu: CAST IRON SEARED GRASS FED FILET Seared filet mignon atop a Wagyu jerky potato croquette with caramelized fennel, asparagus curls and roasted garlic butter. It's a "large plate" in a place that specializes in small plates - so it's not huge and, admittedly, a little pricey but let's not quibble over forgettable details - it was delicious, cooked exactly as requested, and the mix of flavors were spot on. Home run. I don't care what they ask. You can't put a price tag on experience. And this place has THAT figured out. As a final note, the drinks I sampled were: a Boulevardier (most bartenders have no idea what this is), a lovely Bordeaux (full-bodied and rich) and a delicious Port - Six Grapes - very nice finish. Atmosphere, Decor, Excellent Staff, Wonderful food - what else do you want? And that brings us back to the YET. My prediction - this place is gonna leave a mark that's hard to erase. Loved this place!! We went here for a quick bite before we went out and it was divine! We got charcuterie boards for the table and I got a champagne flight for myself. The charcuterie board had 3-4 cheeses and some great jams along with prosciutto and some salami. I would say one is enough to share with four or five people. This is my go to place to bring friends that visit from out of town. This place is small. It's absolutely perfect if you want to have a good time without crazy noise. The bottomless mimosas and bottomless Bloody Mary's are more expensive than a lot of bars in the area, but the price is worth it because of the ambience. They have really cool meats and cheeses on the charcuterie board. They also have a couple of flavors of pepper jelly that comes with the board.
