I come to The Tea Place every once in a while to have a tea - I always enjoy coming here. Cups of tea are always made to perfection - today I have taken a London Fog, and it tastes great - it's not too sweet either like at some other place I've had it. Other hot and cold beverages are served here, such as coffees and bubble tea, to name a couple. A few desert snack items are available to enjoy. Teas are also available for purchase - the Tea Place has a whole variety of loose teas for every taste. Chinese style tea pots are available for purchase. Had a late night craving for bubble tea and my usual fave was closed... so decided to try this. It definitely tastes like they use real ingredients as compared to the powdered sugar type drinks from other places. I had the orange creamsicle and it tasted kinda like Orange Julius which I enjoyed. The boba was a little chewy- maybe not cooked long enough. Overall it satisfied my craving. read more

Came here for lunch with some coworkers during the week and it was not busy. This is a cute smaller place with lots of lunch selections. They had wraps, paninis, bubble tea, and more. We ordered the chicken panini and the chicken avocado bacon wrap. We also ordered bubble teas. They drinks were yummy but I found them to be quite expensive at $9 each. The panini and the wrap were both tasty and around the same $9 mark. Overall for a lunch I think it was a tiny bit overpriced but the pandemic has done that to so many businesses. The service was superb. Staff are really friendly and brought our food and napkins to the table for us. The atmosphere in this place is very calm and relaxed. Nice environment for studying, having a quick bite, or just reading a good book. read more

First time trying bubble tea. Got the pineapple with tropical boba or whatever their called. I do not know. Also got a strawberry flavour for my kid to try. Before going into the store i looked up their menu to see what they had as i never been before so i wanted to check out before i set foot inside. Bubble tea had me sold as i heard all the hype... Get inside ordered and showed them the menu; and they go "oh thats our old pricing" not my fault so they still had to honour it. Its advertised on their website. And they did honour it. Can tell they were not happy about it. Was not my fault they didnt change their website menu. Nowadays gotta save money where you can, any amount is a win win for savings. I have been coming here regularly for approximately 7 years. I'm still happy with it as I continue to visit however, I have noticed some changes that is slowly bringing this place downhill. They have a huge selection of teas with what seems to be endless flavours. My recommendation for hot tea is the black Jamaican chai spice. I also love their bubble teas though I am a bit bummed that after 7 years they've decided to change their flavours. I do feel like they need to make some improvements though. The paninis used to be so good but now I find them below average compared to other places. They are very thin and use incredibly thin slices of all the toppings plus they use sandwich meat. It's more of a light snack than a meal. The desserts are store bought and come from safeway. Another thing they should work on is updating the space. The overall look is kind of dated; the carpet is stained, chairs are scratched up, paint is coming off the walls etc. There are so many new coffee places in Edmonton that are kicking their butt in terms of food, desserts, and overall aesthetic. Moreover, I've noticed that not as many people frequent. I used to come here on the weekends and there'd be no place to sit or a line up out the door. Now it's usually empty. This probably reflects why they close early now. Price is about what you'd expect to pay at other coffee places. They had a stamp card in which you'd get a stamp for every drink purchase but recently changed it so that you have to spend $10 in order to get a stamp. That's unfortunate because I never spend $10 at a time there unless I'm buying food and a drink. Most people I see only purchase drinks anyways. I guess it's a way for them to avoid giving people free stuff at a faster rate. I say just stick to the drinks. This is still by far my favourite place to purchase bubble tea. read more

I'm no expert when it comes to Bubble Tea... I think I had only had it once way back in the day when they served it at the north side Badass Jacks and was unimpressed. But this place is damn good. We love to pop in every once in a blue moon for a cold drink. Today Heather had a Matcha Milk Bubble Tea and I had a Strawberry Banana Milk Bubble Tea, both with tapioca bubbles. It was a lengthy debate as to who's was tastier with both sides having valid arguments. Another go to I like here is the Green Tea Mojito they make. Tasty, refreshing and very light on sweetness. The Tea Place is a cozy sandwich and tea shop in Christy' Corner. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, soups and salads which have always been fresh and tasty anytime I've been in. They have the best cinnamon tea, made from real cinnamon (not simulated flavour). If you leave it steep too long it gets really strong and bits at your tongue but is so good. They are also known for their bubble tea and offer many flavours. I don't like bubble tea, I guess in part to not knowing whether to drink it or eat it. I don't like slimy things in my drinks and have never been a fan of tapioca. But for those who do they'll be in for a nice treat. If you're a World Health member you get a discount on your purchase here. Kind of goes part in parcel with the healthy lifestyle. The Tea Place is a great place to stop for lunch or for a light dinner if you're heading over to the movie theatre across the parking lot. read more

I want to love The Tea Place. I've got a hardcore addiction to tea. I love the idea of tea place on the northside (instead of just around downtown/high street/strathcona). The reviews for this place seem good, and there was a great variety of hot, cold, and bubble teas here. That said I left The Tea Place a little disspointed. To be fair it was a bit busy when I was there and maybe that impacted things a little bit. And the tea I had (a herbal pear tea) was delicious. The service was nice and pretty quick, but almost too quick. I got a roast beef wasabi panini. The wasabi wasn't very spicy, but worse the roast beef was cold, while the panini was hot at the edges. You don't want to start eating a panini, which begins hot and crispy as a panini should, and then have it be ice cold in the centre. It just wasn't good. So sadly I have to rate The Tea Place a little lower than I would have liked too, but the tea was good and I would definitely come back here for another tea again. I'd also like to try some bubble tea - I really like that they offered nondairy bubble teas. First time wasn't the charm, but hopefully the second time will be. read more

I seem to have a slight fixation with tea shops whether it's David's or a smaller little mom and pop type business I can't walk past without going in for a cup. I happened to be near here having lunch with family on a hot day and decided to pop in for a bubble tea to make the hot sweaty ride home on ETS a little more bearable. The Tea Place made a great first impression with me upon entering. It's nice and bright with lots of seating as well as a fire place that I assume they turn on in winter months to make sipping hot beverages seem a little more cozy. However it was definitely not a hot beverage day so I will move on to talk about the bubble tea which was what brought me in here in the first place. First off I must say that while it did taste good it did not taste at all like what I ordered which was watermelon. It just seemed far too sweet and like a mixture of honeydew and cantaloupe. Also it did seem a bit too watered down for my liking. At $6.00 this was the most expensive cup of bubble tea I have ever ordered and it didn't meet my expectations for the price. I would give this place one more shot if I was nearby as we all have off days and perhaps whoever served me was having theirs but I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit this place which is a shame as like I said I think it's a really beautiful little shop and the staff were quite nice. read more

The Tea Place is very much set up like a small cafe, upon walking in there are several small wooden tables and chairs. In the centre of the room is a counter where you can order over one hundred different types of tea, as well as other blended drinks and coffees. They also serve light lunch fare such as soups, salads, and panini. They used fresh ciabatta bread and fresh ingredients for a nice light tasting sandwich. Although I do not think they make the soup fresh themselves, it still went nice with the fresh sandwiches. The bubble tea was very refreshing as well, and the fresh fruit chunks in them was a nice change from the more traditional tapioca. I would recommend The Tea Place for a nice light lunch. Hooray for an awesome tea cafe in Edmonton - especially for being on the north side, and *especially* for being in an area typically reserved for big box stores and restaurants. (Although 137th Ave is pretty chain-y, I've gotta give cred where cred is certainly due: the North Common shopping centre at 137 and St. Albert Trail includes local gems like Lazia and Famoso, too.) I have a hard time picking out what I want here because I get lost in smelling samples of tea. I prefer the tea wall that Steeps offers, but The Tea Place's spinning racks are fun, too. Have a pot to share or one just for yourself if you're not the sharing type. Spicy tea, sweet teas, fruity teas, all kinds of black and herbal creations. Lots of seating, including a nice couch area. I think I would like the space a bit more if the ceilings were higher, but it's still a cute little cafe all the same. Can't comment on the food but I would like to! I have been coming to this place for a few years now, almost since they opened. First plus is it is private, not a chain. The owner Ken is a very friendly guy and runs an efficient operation here. If you look carefully, all their signs and menus are professionally printed, not hand written like most small private business and everything is elegantly placed. He runs this business like a chain - but keeps the customer service at a private level - which is great. We often chat business and swap business ideas and have great conversation while I am there. Basically as the name implies they serve and sell any type of tea you like. From bulk tea, steeped tea, bubble tea, tea lattes, coffees, you name it. They also serve a small menu of pannini sandwiches and desserts like pies and cheesecake. My favorite sandwich is the Chicken Ranch sandwich, it is always very tasty, made with fresh vegetables and slices of chicken. Comes to you hot and tastes great. I don't really like green tea at all - BUT - they make the very best Green Tea Latte - bar none. I was hooked from the first time. I have tasted green tea lattes at many other chains after: Second Cup, Starbucks, Timothy's, others.....none compare to the Tea Place. The reason for that is at the Tea Place they use much less sweetener/sugar in their latte and therefore it tastes smooth and creamy. It tastes like a proper Green Tea Latte. At the other chains I mentioned, I can always taste the overwhelming taste of sugar, like they load up their lattes with it to blind you from the bad taste of their lattes to start with. Anyways, this place gets busy at many times now so you have to pick your times preferably at noon or early evenings, but other times you may not be able to get a parking space because there are other places beside them like Subway, Famoso Pizza, the movie theatre, Tony Roma's, and others. It is great to see this place flourish, they now have another location in the West end. I am trying to talk Ken into opening a South location because I would go more often if it was closer to my home and business. I love seeing independent businesses exist among chain restaurants and big box stores. Well, I actually prefer to see independent businesses exist in cute little shopping areas such as Whyte Ave or 124 Street. But if I'm in big box land, I like establishments which remind me of the more urban landscapes which I prefer. The Tea Place can fix you a pot of a zillion different types of teas. And the selection of teas may be a bit too large for me, especially as there are people in line behind me waiting to order. Additionally, the display of their collection of teas was a bit awkward. When I spend $2 for a pot of tea, or $4 for a tea latte, I'm looking for an experience - something that makes me feel like a prince, or at least like a yuppie (Transcend, Starbucks, and Second Cup all succeed here). When I drank my tea here, it felt like I was just a guy killing some time in big box land in a nondescript, busy tea shop If I'm ever in this part of town at lunchtime again, I'll give the Tea Place's sandwiches a shot. I have always liked tea! From the time my father would get close to retiring at the end of the night with his solid, albeit a bit boring, Earl grey. So it would come as no surprise that, to sip some of the herbal goodness, brings back a wealth of memories. I am glad that The Tea Place can enhance those memories with a bolder more adventuraous blip in time. You see they have an incredible amount of tea to choose from. Robust, timid, exclusive, expensive or just plain traditional. Something for everyone and also makes a terrific gift idea for a person who is hard to shop for. Get them a steeper and something that you think they would like and you have a unique gift. Not to be overlooked are some very tasty paninis and daily special soups. Certainly tasty without too much of the whole "That's a heavy sandwich dude" feel. I guess I just like it and I think that they are around still for a reason and that is that they know who they are catering too. I would definitely come here again and again. I was trying to check out some places that I could get a quick bite to eat before a movie. Lately, I've been obsessed with cold brewed tea, so I thought I would give The Tea Place a try. I looked online for reviews from my fellow Yelpers, and I was sold. Plus, they have bubble tea! (I love bubble tea, but non-milk. Since this is an option here, I must come back to try it). I asked the cashier what cold tea they had on special and she pointed to a large rack of loose tea. I couldn't decide! I asked what her recommendation was and she told me to try the Strawberry Papaya. She definitely did not lead me wrong! It was simply delicious. Not too sweet, no bitterness, or bad after taste. I could have had at least 3. I also ordered the 3 Cheese sandwich they had. Pepperoni, cheddar, swiss and mozzarella cheese, garlic spread, and banana peppers served on naan. It was hot, melty, and absolutely yummy! I sat along the bar near the window. I would have liked comfier seats, but if that's the only complaint I have, then it's not a complaint at all! My usual bubble tea place was closed, so I decided to stop by here based on the great reviews. I was pretty disappointed overall. Other reviewers mentioned the staff being helpful when you ask about mixing different flavors etc. That is something I expected, since most of the other places I've been to have been helpful with it. I asked the guy behind the counter, and he just replied with "uhhhhh... I don't know *laugh* whatever you like, I guess?" Thanks. Super helpful. Anyways, that's not a deal breaker. However, the taste of my bubble tea was. I got the Mango Bango (or something like that). It tasted so watery, and nothing like bubble tea. It was just diluted with way too much water. Honestly, I don't know if it was my luck that they made it with too much water, or if it's always like this. I was thinking of coming back to try sandwiches and other things, but I'm not sure yet. This is my prime meet up spot for friends who like bubble tea. They have all kinds of different flavours and styles of bubble tea as well as a large assortment of regular tea. The atmosphere is really nice. Large assortment of tea accessories for purchase up front Some nice couches at the top to hang out in and a fireplace that never seems to be on. To be honest, it kind of feels like the dive bar of tea places but in a good way. I mean there is some sort of business centre up the stairs right next to one of the tables. I am not sure what the deal is with that. Who uses that computer and printer? The owner? Does he chat with you while he is on Facebook if you are sitting at the table? Something tells me that I should revisit this place and find out what other secrets it holds. Oh yeah. And the bubble tea is super good. I have one gripe with it, the atmosphere is so good that you will stay for a while, like 2 hours. But the bubble tea, it's gone after like 10 mins. It's just so good. I don't know why they always give it to you in a to go cup, when you always finish it way before you leave.Totally recommend piña colada with Lychee jelly. It's my new favourite. 2 pro tips to add. 1. The lunch specials are surprisingly delicious and great value! 2. Like the juice box, stick the pointy end of the straw in your drink, not the flat part. I was here Friday evening with my daughter because she requested to go here her birthday supper. We used to go for lunch all the time when she was younger, but hadn't been for a long time. Thankfully the panini she remembered (chicken ranch) is still on the menu & now that I don't have to share I tried the vegetarian. I requested to have it on the ciabatta bread instead of the whole grain flatbread it normally comes on & they happily obliged. It was really good the avocado offset the heat of the banana peppers nicely. Akira had the dairy free fresh fruit strawberry bubble tea with the apple bubbles while i had the maple cream tea. I often come to the Tea Place before going to North Edmonton Cineplex. This place is nothing fancy, it is simply a great spot for spending some time drinking tea, coffee, enjoying light food and catching up with friends. There are only a handful of tables at this cafe which is not a problem since this place is never too busy. On the menu you will find soups, salads, Panini sandwiches, and lots and lots of various kinds of bubble tea, both with milk and dairy free. Bubble tea as well as the food is very good here. Combo consisting of soup and sandwich is always a good option considering that the Tea Place uses freshest ingredients. Their mushroom soup is to die for, especially paired with veggie melt sandwich. One other item from the menu I recommend is mandarin salad: it's like, crispy and very satisfying. The food is prepared very fast. You can not only eat and drink bubble tea at this cafe, you can also shop here. The Tea Place stocks up on loose teas and tea drinking accessories such as small pots, tea cups and tea strainers.
