About that full English breakfast - I am pretty sure it is the best I have ever head. Less than eight quid for two thick slices of toast with sunny side up eggs, a Cumberland sausage, rashers of bacon, mushrooms and beans. The menu offered additional offers of crispy potato (hash brown) and black pudding. I asked whether I could substitute the mushrooms and beans for a hash brown or pudding, and expected there to be a charge? No charge. Very, very pleased with everything. Excellent service, delicious food, superb atmosphere. Definitely a fan, I will return!

Nonetheless, the waiters were very nice and attentive. While my business partner drank a bloody mary (he said it was the best he'd ever tasted), I ordered a pint of Adnams Ghost Ship. I like my beers a little on the hoppy side, so this choice was perfect: not too hoppy, but still carries a citrus taste. With a menu heavily slanted towards brunch, I ordered the traditional English breakfast and was satisfied. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly worth recommending to the casual visitor.

We ordered three dishes: a granola and fruit bowl to share, the Mixed Fruit & Nut Waffle, and the Waffle House Breakfast (mine, which included a waffle, free range scrambled eggs, field tomatoes and mushrooms, and bacon rashers). While the savoury bits were okay, I found the namesake waffles, and ultimately the plate itself, to be forgettable...or below average at best.
