Overall what you'd expect for an authentic Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa were good and we got sat quickly. The booths are a bit dated and the tables was a little small but overall a nice dim dining experience. The server we had wasn't very efficient, we were left waiting on drink and salsa refills. And he seemed confused that I wanted queso on top of my entree. The food came out nicely and correct. Very filling and all tasted pretty good! Overall this place was good, not amazing but a decent place to get authentic tasting food. Might try a different one next time I'm in town. read more

First time visit with a friend. We were seated quickly and ordered the 32oz strawberry margarita to share and it was delicious. I think we only managed to drink half of it. I ordered the fish tacos and my friend ordered chicken fajitas. The edges of the fish were a bit over crispy and there was no lettuce or anything else. It was just the fish and the tortilla. The pico came in a separate container as well as the spicy sauce. I had to steal some lettuce and tomato from my friends plate to build my tacos. My friend got chimichangas instead of the fajitas she ordered. Normally we would have sent it back but she was so hungry she ate it anyway. I'd definitely be back for the magaritas! read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. They have the best chips and taco shells. I don't know if they make them fresh, or buy from a Mexican bakery. The key to a great taco is the shell. Most restaurants they taste like something you would buy at Kroger. I have always found the servers to be friendly, and food is served quickly. read more

We have visited this location a couple times. The first time I ordered the sampler platter. Holy moly what a lot of good food. Everything arrived quickly and hot by a delightful server. Prompt server and delivery of food was appreciated as we had a toddler with us. The chips and salsa were warm and fresh. A fresh basket of chips was delivered once we had devoured the first basket with the tasty queso. The restaurant was very busy on a Friday evening but we were seated pretty quickly. Cinco de Mayo was your time to shine The Toros. Yes we expected you to be busy but customer service is still key. They did have a special menu w a few items on it for the Cinco De Mayo specials. We were in no rush but we did order guacamole for our chips. That never came. We asked for utensils, which I had to get on my own. My burrito that was brought out was the wrong one and I asked for more salsa. Never received the salsa or guacamole. I ended up eating the burrito that was brought bc the server never came back. The food and service has been going down for the last couple of years. But, Cinco de Mayo was my first real issue. Shortened menu which is fine, I get it, busy day. But the menu sucked! Didn't even have tacos! Got a taco salad and that sucked. Then tonight, sign is on, doors are locked. Mind you, people are inside eating! Stand there a minute, nothing. Ok, go to leave and as I'm getting in my car 2 more people walk up, it's locked but they let them in. Ok, I call, they said they are full I asked about the 2 that just got in. They said they had people inside, hmm ok. Then while I'm on the phone, 2 more people walk up and they get in! And in between all that, people tried to get out and couldn't! First off, the food was seriously very good. The problem is the staff I encountered today seemed to be very irritable and selective. Tables around me were getting satisfactory service, but some others were not, including me. Me and my girlfriend went over for lunch, and we had our server talk to us about 4 times or so, and the fastest response was to take our check. I understand it may just be a one time occurrence, but it seems it is common. Not sure why this place gets such negative reviews. Got the shrimp burrito, and no complaints. The service was good too. Nice theme on the inside with an authentic Mexican style. The only "complaint" I could find is that the salsa's not my favorite, but that's just because I like chunky salsa. This place is slept on and I would definitely come here again. read more

Not Authentic Mexican Food!!! For Starters they brought out chips and salsa. Salsa tasted like tomato sauce did not have onions,chilies, or cilantro in it just very bland. I personally ordered a combo plate, Tamale, Enchilada,and Taco. Tamale had square shaped "meat" in it with no flavor. The mass was good. The enchilada was horrible!! First I thought it was strange that you didn't have a choice of meat or cheese option. Inside the enchilada was cheese sauce thick and tangy I took one bite and was disgusted. Onto the taco again no choice of meat. It came with tons of shredded cheese and lettuce I bit into it and it had hamburger meat in it with no spices or flavor at all!!! Combo plate did not come with rice or beans either. Waited for our check for 15 mins before we just got up and stood at the cash register until someone came so we could pay for our horrible dinner. I have been here many times and only today did I think to leave a review. I mean the place is okay. I think they should not have changed the title from "Los Toros" to "The Toros"... It seems super corny now and it did their restaurant no good. Now I just feel even more compelled to mispronounce "quesadilla," just to fit in- even though I'm a Spanish major. Other than that, the service is great, I've certainly never had a problem with that. The menu is somewhat confusing- there aren't very many pictures so I'm never quite sure what I'm getting. But, usually no matter what I order, the food is good. However, I always get sick afterward. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it's not. This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant and I would come here at least once a week, especially for taco Tuesday. The last couple of times we have been here, the service has been horrible. The rest of my family refuses to go back, but I still loved it and decided to go by myself tonight. After driving 15 minutes to get there and arriving at 9:20pm, the front door was locked. Online, it says it is open till 10 PM, the front door says the same, and obviously, I have experienced this every week. A young girl was getting a carry out order for a gentleman who was waiting there, and unlocked the door for him to get out. I asked her about it, and she said they weren't busy, so they closed early. I said, "I come here every week for taco Tuesday and it's always open till 10. If this is the way I'm going to be treated, I am never coming back." Her response was "OK, sounds good. It's filled with ground beef, pulled chicken, beans and rice topped with a red chili sauce, sour cream and beef tips. Did I mention the portion are HUGE! This place has always had poor service but had still managed to be my favorite place in Brownsburg to eat, until the last couple of months that is. Poor service can be tolerated with great food but sadly the food has turned into inedible, grease covered, zero flavored having slop. I have no idea what happened to this place but stay very clear unless you love utter frustrating for slop. You will easily wait 20 minutes to get you bill when you're done eating. I'd say my family and I averaged 1-2 times a week here for a long time. My last 2 times I didn't leave a tip and I always leave a tip. read more

I go to school in Bloomington and when I visit Brownsburg (my hometown) I always try to make it to the Toros. It is mine and my boyfriend's go-to local restaurant. He gets the pollo way, which always looks delicious. Last time I got tacos del pastor and they were the best tacos I ever had. The chips, salsa and queso are all very good. If I could leave a review with no stars I would have. The server for our table didn't give us menus until we asked and then only gave us one for five people. He also didn't give us chips and salsa when we requested. The waiter for the table next to us was incredibly rude when the customer requested a new order because there were no toppings on her nachos (there were hardly any). He accused her of eating all of her food before she said anything, which wasn't true- he just hadn't been back for 15 minutes after dropping her food off. The same waiter was incredibly rude to us when were cashing out. All of this happened on a Saturday afternoon with only a couple other tables occupied. Somewhere in my parent's suburban Chicago home there's a picture of me celebrating my 16th birthday. I'm wearing my favorite Faith-no-More t-shirt, and a sombrero; Faith-no-More because I was awesome, a sombrero because I was celebrating my birthday at Chi-Chi's. The food snob in me is a bit embarrassed to admit how much I enjoyed Chi-Chi's, but boy could I ever eat a plate of heavily seasoned ground beef, beans, and guacamole swimming in a sea of melted cheese, and sour cream Americanized Mexican food. There's nothing wrong with that style of Mexican food as long as you do it well, and I think Los Toros is dynamite. Just be careful when you order, because sometimes you get so much food that it comes out on multiple plates, and those plates will completely cover the detailed drawings of dangling bull testicles that adorn every table. When you take a picture of your tacos al pastor, and upload it to your Facebook, you're going to want your friends to see those testicles. read more

Food is filling, lots of variety - I am the fifth wheel in my family of Mexican food eaters but I am always happy with my options. Nice local joint - sometimes on busy nights service can be slow - but everyone is hustling - this is my criteria - how hard are you trying. Once ordered food is quickly served and is hot. She had the #15 which was to try their version of rellenos. The rellenos did not measure up to Acapulco Joes unfortunately but all else was very good.
