It is at the edge of Cannock Chase and if you sit on the far side of the pub by the window you can see for miles. The name comes from the old windmill in the grounds across the bowling green. In the winter it is lovely sitting by the roaring fire. There is a bar, lounge and upstairs restaurant. Sunday lunch is excellent with a good choice of meat. You can also order off the menu. The fish and chips are massive and amazing with crispy batter. Never had a bad meal here just sometimes they go over the top with peas but if you love them it's fine. They do good bread and butter pudding with custard. They also do real ale.

By day, this mild mannered pub serves good, honest pub food to a more genteel clientele. By night, the Crown dresses up into a thriving, bustling drinkers bar. The food here is always pretty good, delivering what you would expect from most pub menus. I'm always tempted by their curry, whilst my husband can't get enough of the burgers. The drinks tick the boxes too, even stocking some fairly unusual beers for a suburban boozer such as Blue Moon from the USA. Be warned though, the pub can get very busy when in it's in drinking mode. On Friday and Saturday nights expect a queue at the bar. On some evenings it can feel like this place is the local for all of Four Oaks' residents. The diversity of the drinkers is sometimes astounding. Don't be surprised to see groups celebrating an 18th birthday, whilst another customer is turning 80 on the very same night. Immediately loved the chilled out and friendly atmosphere - I ordered the double decker sarnie (packed full of bacon, sausage, egg and tomato) and my other half had the Emerald breakfast (I like the touch of the breakfast dishes all being named after jewels!), both washed down with an excellent cup of coffee. It gets extremely busy at lunchtimes - to be expected because of its quality reputation. The food is really good, well cooked and a fair price. The staff are incredibly happy and chatty and cant do enough to help. Oh and proper MUGS of tea. Win. They also do free delivery within 3 miles for orders of £8 which im guessing is quite popular with the local offices as im always seeing the Molly's vans round and about. Ive knocked one star off (i wish i could just take off half a star...) because their website is really quite rubbish.
