Before we even had children, we knew we wanted a creative and compassionate environment for our children as they grew up. A place where their self-esteem and self-efficacy would bloom. We've found that and more at NCCL. It is such a wonderful community, and we are so appreciative to be a part of it! I do not know the specifics of the negative review below, but the school is small (10 kids per grade level) and does not have the resources of larger schools. I can only speculate that would be why outside help was encouraged for any behavioral issues.

The learning is fun, interactive, and centered around the abilities of the students, and the hands-on methods of teaching allowed me to understand and apply concepts to real-life situations. I never had to ask myself "Why does this matter?" The teachers there were/are like parents to me, and I knew that I could always come to them with any struggles I might be having, emotionally or academically. The environment is safe and nonjudgemental; my NCCL family has truly shaped me as a person. Although I have had struggles with anxiety since an early age, the staff has always cared for and supported me in even my loftiest goals. When I was in eighth grade, I told my writing teacher, Kate, that I wanted to write a novel by the end of the year, and with her help and constant reinforcement, I completed it. Now, I am an English major with a Writing Concentration at Gettysburg College (minors in Literature and Studio Art). I had a 4.5 GPA throughout high school, and I now have a 4.2 GPA in college. I am a published author, journalist, and artist, as well as the editor for our on-campus literary and art magazine. None of this would have been possible without the support and aid of the teachers at NCCL, who encouraged me to think deeply, and pursue my interests doggedly. NCCL is the most accepting community that I have ever had the privilege of entering, and the staff works hard to accommodate students and families. They have plentiful compassion and experience when it comes to working with children with learning disabilities, and the environment of the school itself is welcoming and supportive to all. This school is a family, and I was so lucky to be a part of it. I will be forever grateful for my time at NCCL.

After that the entire atmosphere changes. They want to keep you hooked so they remain somewhat nice but this changes. The unprofessionalism is astounding. The entire establishment is a facade and people are falling for it every day. Every parent should be aware before scheduling a tour here. They are better off somewhere else. Don't believe the hype about their waiting list, this is used as a selling tool. It is all about sales with this school. Money comes first here. More research will help you to find a more professional establishment elsewhere. We pull our daughter our after one year. Principle is horrible if you send him an email or ask question you be lucky if he get back to you with in few months.

We moved to Middletown 5 years ago and chose the location because of the public school system…read more Unfortunately the large classroom sizes, overwhelmed teachers and curriculum gaps had us looking for more after 3 years. We moved to St. Anne's with our then 6th grader, knowing middle school would only prove more disappointing. After just that one year, we were convinced that our other children should follow. Last year, with 4th, 6th and 7th grade students at SAES, we watched our children truly flourish. Their confidence grew, their minds were challenged, their creativity embraced. At SAES, our children have a voice, their intelligence knows no bounds and their souls are nourished. We know our now 8th grader, in only his 3rd year at St. Anne's, is more than prepared for all that is ahead of him and we truly could not be more thankful.

I am very grateful that I was allowed (and encouraged) to participate in this group when I was no longer a student. This time in my life was somewhat difficult, and I often felt lonely and out of place living in a college town when I was no longer a student, and this ministry group helped me to feel appreciated and feel a sense of belonging. This place serves weekly dinners, followed by services. I loved the services, especially when they had traditional hymn-singing. I found the pastor, Bruce Heggen, to be thought-provoking and to raise deep and interesting questions which helped challenge me spiritually. This group is pretty inclusive in terms of people who have different beliefs and faith backgrounds. Although it's associated with an ELCA church, it serves people from the more liberal ELCA denominations as well as people from the more conservative Missouri Synod, and everyone coexists. There are also a few people who show up here who do not have lutheran backgrounds, and I think the group would be welcoming to non-lutherans (I did not grow up Lutheran although I've attended Lutheran churches and are familiar with their liturgy and traditions). This group also does a lot of other things, including running a tutoring service. The also allowed us to use their space one year for dancing, as the Perkins scrounge closes at 10:30, and we had a few gatherings here in the dining area with dancing for a couple hours after the scrounge closed. The group also runs a fellowiship for the service of the hungry (FISH). I am really impressed with how much this small group does! I think their biggest service though is to the student body, providing a community gathering space.

Some of the best, and my most favorite teachers, are the ones I had at WCDS. The community at WCDS is very special and I met some of my closest friends, to this day, there.
