Dropped into The Union Kitchen for a quick happy hour with my beautiful bride. We had some extra time before a bourbon tasting class at Total Wine - Memorial. It was our second time to visit so I feel comfortable giving a review based on our experience. Similar to our last visit, the restaurant has a cool, laid back vibe. We sat at the bar and were greeted promptly by the bartender. She was really pleasant and understood the mission when she handed us the happy hour menu as well as the regular menu. We ordered a couple of ice cold draft Michelob Ultra's that were going for $2 bucks. When was the last time you saw that price in a restaurant? Pleasant surprise! We ordered a couple happy hour snacks to share - fried calamari and truffle fries. The food arrived quickly and looked great on the plate and was more than enough to share. Calamari was well seasoned and had fried peppers and lemon complemented with marinara sauce and a lemony vinaigrette sauce. Truffle fries were delicious too! Really appreciate the hospitality and value, especially at happy hour when you may be in and out in under an hour. Highly recommended neighborhood spot. We will be back. read more

Pretty solid spot and experience. We got the Philly cheese egg rolls and the Crispy bang bang shrimp - easily the highlights of our experience. This was the perfect visit. I was the last customer of the evening during Feb restaurant week. Dinner was $25 for a 3 course selection. This was my very first time visiting The union Kitchen, and I'm so glad I came. I ordered the Philly egg rolls as my app choice, My main course I had the Island breeze Fish, with the coconut rice, which was very nice (I'm not much of a coconut girl because of texture, but this was perfect) and the red velvet cake as my dessert. Everything was very good. So great in fact that I wanted to dine here twice during HRW, but didn't get the chance to do so. The service was very friendly and attentive, I appreciate the management feedback and her invitation back with a coupon offer. I will defiantly be returning here to explore the menu more. read more

Located off of Memorial in a shopping plaza, Union Kitchen's menu is pretty close to a traditional American diner with some add-on options. Came by for lunch and service was solid; quick and on point. Got the bang bang chicken and crab cakes for apps. The crab cakes weren't honestly very good and I couldn't find any crab in the middle of the breading. The shrimp came on a bed of slaw/salad and was actually better than it looked. I had hoped the shrimp would've been battered slightly better and had a stronger sauce. I got the blackened redfish orleans for my main. It was a bit busy and not very Cajun at all. The sausage slices were a bit bland and I did not enjoy the brown sauce very much; the dish looked much more flavorful/complex than it is. Overall the flavor was a bit below expectations but it's my first time trying out the menu and definitely could've ordered sub-optimally and missed out on their heavy hitters. read more

We had a work event here in the private room and it was amazing! Dana was so easy to work with and made sure everything was perfect and that everyone was taken care of. Taylor, Veronica, and Art were our servers for the evening and they were very pleasant and attentive. This is the 3rd time I have been here and I would definitely recommend to anyone for casual or celebration or private event. The food is delicious and they have a great variety to select from. The brunch selection i observed looked amazing although I had hammer on my mind. I got the Hamburger Bowl. Burger was cooked to perfection and topped with cheese & onion strings which all sat atop a bowl of lettuce & fries. I felt the fries, which were covered in cheese, were a little soggy. If I order again, I will definitely omit the French fries and lean in on more salad greens. The staff was courteous with two managers stopping by to check in on needs and opinions. The ambiance was mixed- beautiful back room for private parties, beautiful bar, beautiful & unique lighting but, the pictures on the wall were childish versions of wine bottles- would recommend Union reach out to an art college & have one of the talented kids help them out. Why four, well 3.5 isn't an option and 3 is too low for the promise it showed. there were SO many amazing dishes - the fish and chips looked amazing. I will be back. I have been going to this restaurant fora little over the last year and always highly recommend it. I have celebrated my birthday here 3 times. I went this past May for my birthday for a late lunch with my boss and coworker and although the food was on point, like always, the server was not very friendly and did not come to check on our table often at all despite the restaurant being almost empty. It felt as though we were being rushed out. But I chalked it up to maybe he was having a bad day. Following week my friends wanted to have a brunch on Sunday to do a late bday celebration so here I was again. And got the same waiter. Again- he was not friendly and rushed us to leave. Even brought us our checks without asking if we were done and we were still in the middle of our mimosas. Had he not brought our checks we would have ordered another bottle and dessert. Very disappointed in the service as I usually rave about this place and usually highly recommend. I don't feel welcome any more. Not sure what is going on but I hope if I go again we don't experience this treatment again. read more

The shrimp scampi pasta was delicious. The steak was cooked to order but had no seasoning on it at all. Mother's day was crowded and it looked like each server had a lot of tables but they all tried their best. Food was good, fish was fresh. We started with the bang bang shrimp. Unfortunately there is very little shrimp on the plate so I would recommend they choose a smaller plate. I had the lobster ravioli. My husband had a stuffed snapper that was very good. Came here for brunch on a Saturday. I ordered the waffles, my gf ordered the union bowl. The waffles were good, presentation was cute. I wish they had a bit more cream or berries on it to give it a bit more dynamic flavors, but overall solid. Gf sent back the Union bowl, it was a bit dry and too eggy rather than being a comprehensive bowl. She got the tuna tartare instead and said it was solid. Don't order the Snapper Hemingway if you are expecting a good portion of crab with your fish, there was barely any! However, they do give you an oversized portion of very dry Brussel sprouts (I would avoid this entree especially at the price). The fish does have some nice flavor, however. We also ordered the carnitas egg rolls and they were fantastic.
