Worst shipping store ever. Period. $3.5 to print out a one-page Amazon shipping label! They will not tell you in advance about this pricing until you are paying at the cashier. The pricing behind it was, they call the computer "a business center." Using the computer per se, even if you bring your own USB, not even using the Internet, costs $3. The printing itself costs $.5. Additionally, like other reviewers said, they charge for taping your Amazon return boxes. I thought that was the worst they can be. I was wrong. I used to have a great impression on UPS until one UPS store charged me $20 per box pick-up fee for ground shipping without telling me about it even though I asked for pricing beforehand. Avoid at all costs. Their equipment is never working, so they're never able to provide a receipt that you dropped off a package. I dropped off a box 2 days ago, asked for a receipt and was denied. Now it hasn't showed up in tracking, and it's basically my word versus theirs. They're also the rudest business I've ever been to. This is quite literally one of the worst establishments I've ever been to. I've gone here several times and I've never been impressed. On a scale of 1-10, customer service is a 0. I avoid this place as much as possible, because in the past they double charged me for a prepaid package (I was in a rush and didn't ask to check the box since they had already taken it away) and on another occasion gave me an attitude after I told them I had changed my mind about sending a package (they wanted to charge me $20 to return a shirt that only cost $10). I returned because I had to send background check info to an employer and was told to use UPS or DHL. This is closest to me, so I came here. I literally had three pieces of paper to mail, and the guy tells me that if I want a tracking number (I did) I have to use their air mail envelopes instead of a generic one. Okay, fine I'll do it. I ask him for the cheapest shipping option, and he says okay. While he's inputting the shipping info, another girl comes in trying to return a package. Another man starts serving her, and she keeps asking questions, and he's getting visibly irritated. Mind you, this girl is obvs not a native English speaker and is just trying to clarify everything, like she's not arguing with him or anything. Then the person serving me asks me if the zip code on my parcel is correct because he has a different one listed. I double check my stuff and tell him that yes, it is. The other guy starts talking about how me and the girl he was serving are too paranoid and walks away from us all in a huff. My guy tells me that it'll cost me $14.99. Without confirming with me, he had chosen to charge me for next day shipping. I ask him if that's the cheapest option, and his response (which I can't confirm because UPS website is a pain in the ass to navigate) was that it was. I doubt that though, given that the envelope he put my things in was valid for two-day air as well. At the very least, that would've been a cheaper option. I've gotten into arguments at this establishment before though, and chose to pay and get out as soon as possible. read more

Honestly, this was among the worst costumer experiences I've ever had -- but I was rather surprised to see that my negative experience was the norm among Yelp users at this (truly miserable) branch of the UPS Store. When I brought in a manuscript to copy several pages, the owner informed me that he would not copy it as it was a copyrighted work -- without having any way of knowing what the work was or anything about it! I informed him that it was a non-commercial academic piece which I was copying for my boss, who happens to be its author, and it could in any case be copied by anyone under fair use for academic usage. Besides which, I said that if he would not copy it, I would be happy to do the work myself using their machine. He assumed a shockingly insulting tone, acting as though I wanted to commit a crime, and said that my copying it would incur a $250,000 penalty for copyrighted works! He then pointed out the door and said, "There is a FedEx store that way." I literally could not believe this, but he and his associate stared at me as I backed up and walked out towards the FedEx Office location. For now on I'm going to be taking the owner's advice and going to FedEx, I think you should too... read more

I'm so happy to see that this place has 1 star. The most accurate Yelp rating I've ever seen. THIS PLACE IS THE PITS. I went in a few weeks ago to ship my cable box back to Comcast - they gave me back a Parcel Shipping Order from, with no tracking number or official receipt. I received a call from Comcast saying that they did not receive the cable box, so I went back to the store to ask what happened. As soon as I walked in, an older man (Harry Smith) summoned the other associate (Ana - who was very polite by the way) to assist me. He called her over like she was a dog or something - his tone was offensive, even to me. I should've known right then that this was going to be all bad. lol I told Ana my situation and she asked when I dropped off the box. I told her I didn't remember. Out of no where, Harry yelled, "You don't know when you dropped it off! We can't look it up then." When I was given the form, I was only told to fill out my name, not the date. I told him that. I also asked, "Why can't you look it up by my name?" He replied, "Look lady. Because we need the date to look it up! I already told you that." Apparently, they have an antiquated filing system for bulk shipping orders to Comcast that do not include name; they are only filed by name. I was just trying to understand the record keeping system and where the cable box is and what, if anything, went wrong. He then proceeds to banter back and forth with me for a few minutes. I can't remember everything he said, but his tone was beyond offensive. He said that was trying to make him miserable and cause problems. LOL. Eventually, I told him he was obviously on his period and that I no longer needed his assistance - Ana would help me. After that, he shut up, but I overheard him get snappy and rude with the next two customers as well. Ana and I were able to figure out the date I made my purchase and she was able to give me the tracking information I needed to send to Comcast. (Thank you Ana for being such a kind, patient customer service associate.) As for Harry, I hope whatever it is that is really bothering you gets better. UPS, you really need to do better with your hiring and/or customer service training. Actually, maybe Harry just needs to be placed on meds...midol helps with PMS. Believe me. read more

I'm not surprised to find negative reviews about this particular store. I'm a professional who does not mind paying extra for certain services. However, to paid $2.50 to borrow tape is a bit ridiculous. The guy (probably the owner or manager) in the store pointed to the sign and said that would be considered helping me prepare my package. I only needed the tape to adhere the pre-printed label to my envelope. Are u kidding me???????? I left and borrowed tape from a store in a shop. Fortunately, they didn't request $2.50. This is place is easily one of the worst customer experiences I've had in my entire life. They lost one of my packages, and were angry at me for asking about it. All three members of staff I spoke to (the lady working at the front desk, and both managers) were rude, dismissive, unhelpful and accusatory. It is a genuine wonder why this place is still open, and it is totally unsurprising that it has terrible reviews. Avoid this store. First off, they charge $2.50 to tape up any package, which other stores happily do for free when shipping through them. And if charging, doesn't it seem like $2.50 is unreasonably high. To make matters worse, they are very rude. While I was taping up the package, an employee told me in an unfriendly manner to move to another counter, and then when I returned to do the transaction with the now tapped up package, he scanned the label, handed me a receipt and walked away without uttering a single word to me. Absolutely horrible experience. First they over charged me to send my package. Then, after recognizing what they did, they automatically got defensive. I didn't even want a refund because it was only a couple of dollars, but I just wanted the sales associate I think his name was Alex (I'll check) to say, "I'm sorry, my mistake. How can I fix this?" And I would have responded, "Don't worry about it, it's alright." But when he said, "Don't think I'm going to give you a refund so that you can save a couple of bucks," I was shocked and appalled. Never have I experienced this much disrespect in a place of business. Since then I have written to the owner and left emails only to receive no response. I had to deal with the most unprofessional salesperson there. She had an attitude with the throughout the transaction and spoke about me in Spanish under her breath when I asked her a question! She called me a bendeha, which means whore, for no other reason than me asking if I had to pay for tape! I don't ship things often so I wouldn't know and she decides that was an appropriate reason to say things like that. I asked her to split a payment and she acted like it was the biggest inconvenience that she'd ever experienced in her entire life. I do not recommend going there, especially if she's there. Today, I was waiting in line, standing by the counter to drop off a box and the clerk decides to help the man BEHIND me. The man BEHIND me looks at me, then the clerk to indicate I was BEFORE him, but the clerk continue to help him instead. It's finals and I am in no mood to argue. Now, the clerk decides to help me and says I have to pay $2.00 to drop off a PREPAID package?! Granted I needed tape for the box, but he said Amazon was paying for the shipping and I'm being charged $2.00 for UPS to handle it. I've dropped off packages at other locations (in CA) without a fee and I believe this is a universal policy of UPS. If I had tape, I could have just given it to a driver. If I had energy I would have either argued with him for a) helping another customer and b) ripping me off, or dragged the box around with me while studying and during my exam. If someone can verify that there is a $2.00 fee, then please speak up. Otherwise, go somewhere else or just find a driver, they're everywhere. UPDATE: This review was an opportunity to vent and now I feel guilty for leaving such a poor review. Basically, if you've got some extra cash, go ahead and drop you're package off. Awful, the customer service was some of the worst I've experienced. The woman behind the counter was downright rude and barked at me for not having less than an inch of my box taped. AFTER SEVEN HOURS waiting in my son's dorm for the delivery of his worldly possessions, we called to see when or if we could expect delivery. Jenny was unapologetic for the terrible service. When my son called two days ahead of time to ask for morning delivery the sales person said they could not be pinned down to a specific time frame, despite their web site's expressed policy that we provide a time frame. We have called two times and each time is less and less friendly service. I would NEVER use this service again. Particularly since we saw one of their delivery drivers sitting in the truck with his feet up and music blaring for what seemed like a long time. Terrible terrible terrible. I am puzzled by the bad reviews on this store. I've had a great experience there recently on two separate occasions. I was staying in a hotel nearby and had to ship some things back home. The items were somewhat challenging--a very large and fragile wicker lamp; a pasta machine; and, on a second visit, an assortment of several heavy books and numerous small and fragile plastic toys. They packed all of it for me and helped me choose the cheapest option. This was the quickest packing service of any UPS Store I've ever been too. I am happy to say that all of the items arrived without a single dent (three separate boxes shipped on two different days). They were perfectly packed and arrived in great condition. The boxes got here even quicker than they had promised. I found them to be extremely efficient (taking care of several customers at once quickly) and courteous. On my second visit, I was pressed for time and arrived 15 minutes before the official opening time of the store. There was a man inside--perhaps he is the owner or manager, I am not sure--and I sat on the bench right outside of it thinking I would wait patiently. He saw me and opened the store early so I could come in even though he was clearly in the middle of preparing things for the day. The phone rang as he began to help me, and once he realized the person on the phone was going to take a while, he politely told the person he had a customer in store and would talk later. I was so impressed by this. Again, not sure why other people had such negative experiences. I had to double-check that we were talking about the same store. I don't live in DC but if I did I would come to this UPS for all my shipping needs. I can't say the same for my local UPS stores. To the owners and employees of this particular UPS: please keep up the good work and don't mind the cranky reviews. There are many of us who appreciate your hard work and good service! The people here are so unbelievably rude. They are also insanely expensive. I highly recommend against using their summer storage program. It is so expensive and the customer service is mediocre at best. When you enter the store, there usually isn't anyone at the desk and you have to wait a long time before anyone comes out to actually help you. I was trying to send money via Western union, the guy who was supposed to serve me was extremely rude and absolutely not cooperative. I gave up and left, very frustrated. I will not go back again. Went there to ship a box that weighed .80 lbs and they wanted over $16 dollars for standard ground with them or $14.99 for USPS. This seemed very high to me and when I took this box to FedEx they only charged me $8 for standard ground. Also, if you choose to go to this location you have to get there at least 10 minutes before their posted closing time because they are often closed before 7pm on weekdays. Long story short, go to the FedEx on K street one block away. read more

I should have paid attention to the other reviews and not used this service. I've had a package delivered to the store with no notification/slip in my mailbox (I had to ask whether I had a package) and mail from past owners of my mailbox every time I check mail (including bank statements). I discussed the mail sorting process with the owner who commented they are too busy to check the names on the mailboxes, only check the mailbox number. When I attempted to clarify the services they provide (after the owner turned my queries into a personal issue vs business discussion) I was told "Perhaps I should go someplace else". Staff are rude including the owner and I am not confident mail is being properly delivered. I was told that when clients check mail and receive mail that doesn't belong to them (i.e. from a previous mailbox tenant), most people just give it back. They are counting on the honesty of the mailbox owner to not walk out with someone else's mail instead of providing the service they are being paid for. I would not recommend this business. read more
