I'm saddened hearing others give 1 star reviews over the appointments being mandatory now, I've used the Urgency Room a few times over the years and find the appointment system much more efficient and it keeps you from sitting in a crowded waiting room with people coughing all over the place! I was recently in for leg pain after a foot surgery and was treated quickly and respectfully for the blood clot they found via Ultrasound. The Ultrasound tech I had was the BEST!! She made me feel very comfortable and at ease. read more

Be aware that if you schedule a virtual appointment for a condition that they cannot evaluate or treat virtually you will be charged $148.50 by the Urgency Room to tell you that they can't see you!! I called to complain about the charge and was told the charge won't be reversed because they consider telling me they can't evaluate me is their way of evaluating me so the charge stands! Needless to say I will never go to the UR again even if I have to wait an hour to be seen at Allina. read more

My daughter visited The Urgency Room with an antibiotic resistant Strep infection. She was having trouble breathing because her throat was so swollen. Dr. Christopher O'Neill did not do a strep test or any testing. He told her that his diagnosis was "anxiety". She then went to Health East and they did multiple tests, treated her breathing distress with a steroid and prescribed an effective antibiotic and she got better quickly. My daughter requested a detailed bill and Urgency Room has not sent it. Do not rely on this place for urgent care. read more

I've gone here in the past and been treated great. The last time I was there, the doctor was awful. I felt like I was inconveniencing him by being there. If this is the care they feel is ok to provide, I will be certain to never be back. it was by far the worst care I've ever received by a doctor. So bad I'm seriously debating making a complaint to the state medical board, since the urgency room has no desire to actually address it. I went in early November for a burn that I was concerned was becoming infected and just wasn't healing like any other burn I've had. I could not get a same day appointment with my primary, so I decided a possible infection was not something to mess around with. The doctor was in the room a minute tops. No joke. he poked at the burn a bit, with no gloves on mind you, and asked if I had a fever. That's it. Said it might be infected and gave me an antibiotic. He had zero concern about how much pain I was in. I was not there simply to get an antibiotic. I wanted a doctor to address my concerns with the way the burn looked. I knew it didn't look right and was unlike any other burn I've had in the past. I was completely blown off. I went to my doctor the next day because I left with zero confidence in this doctor's diagnosis. My doctor diagnosed it as a 3rd degree burn and referred me to the Regions burn clinic. read more

Worst urgent care experience I've ever had! Actually, the worst medical-related visit of any kind! I went into this facility for the first-time one Sunday morning, due to extreme pain in my left arm, limiting me from doing pretty much anything. I was told by a "PA" initially that it was a partially torn bicep tendon, which was confirmed by the "MD" on shift. Who was the MD on shift? Some guy wearing a KC Jayhawks "do rag telling me I'm overreacting?" Real professional. Also, was told they don't have an MRI or Ultrasound capability, what kind of urgent care doesn't have this ability? Fast forward 1 week, and both an MRI and Ultrasound CONFIRMED a "completely torn/ruptured distal bicep tendon" requiring IMMEDIATE surgery! Due to how I was treated in all aspects during this visit, am now barely able to meet the 2-3 week threshold for optimal surgical conditions, as treatment for a "partial tear" IS different than a complete tear. Lastly, despite this facility PROMOTING urgent care covering a wide range of ailments, they literally required me to "make an appointment" while standing at their front lobby desk, despite barely being able to use my left arm! On top of that, there was nobody else in the lobby waiting to be seen, yet had to wait 20 minutes. When I questioned the "appt" protocol despite being an urgent care, was met with an attitude from their Australian lassie at front desk. Even her co-worker, and what appeared to be a "new hire", said it's very confusing and counterproductive. I couldn't agree more! Stay far away! read more

I drove to the urgency room after looking up online to see the hours. Nowhere did it say an appointment was needed. I have a kidney stone which I've had in the past and usually manage on my own. I have, in the past, had to have one removed because it was stuck so since this is day two of this pain I decided to go in. BTW it is Sunday so no primary clinics were open either day of this episode. Despite my severe pain I was told I needed an appointment because kidney stones are not listed as an "emergency". If I thought it was an emergency, I would've gone to the emergency room. There was literally one other person checking in, no one else in the waiting area but no appointments were available for another 3 hours. I get the need to manage traffic but the fact is that the person at the front counter does not know my history so just because I know it's a kidney stone does not mean it may not be "urgent". I'm now calling this the DR. Office since it's nothing more than that. Or next time I'll say I'm having trouble breathing which might be "urgent" under your definition. read more

The staff here is so kind and great at what they do! Short wait, good care, and has much more services than typical urgent cares (IV Fluids, CT Scan, etc.). Check your insurance however because it could be expensive if it's not covered since it's Emergency Medicine certified providers unlike other urgent cares. read more

I'm shocked that there hasn't been more people complaining about "scheduled appointments". Apparently you have to make an appt now to be seen. In which case we did and when it was our scheduled time we were told we have to wait an additional hour to be seen. If this isn't already an inconvenience, we now have to waste our day waiting even longer. I HIGHLY recommend you looking elsewhere if you need to be seen. It's sad that a company will change what quality care is for their customers to make their life easier. The new booking setup is misleading and unhelpful. This is urgent care so clearly you will have a wait as you prioritize patients who are sick. It is really misleading for patients who "schedule" for you to send them a reminder 15-30 min before their appointment, and for them to show up and find out you're an hour behind. My suggestion would be to illuminate the online booking system, and just present a wait time so that it is more realistic. Another suggestion would be to include a link to my specific wait time in the reminder text message that you send me for my booked appointment. read more

Pros: No wait time and staff was very helpful, check in was quick, clean and well equipped facility. Medicine they gave me helped with my pain, so thank you. Cons: My Diagnosis was incorrect, and bill was too high $2200 for tummy ache. I felt they ordered unnecessary tests like they did (CT Scan), and my insurance declined to pay for that without pre-authorization. my son went in twice and the only thing they would test him for is covid and both time negative. He was very sick, we ended up finding out later somewhere else that he had strep and mono and double ear infection. This place is awful, they never even ran the blood work. The doctor was wonderful and the other staff were wonderful as well. My issue with the urgency room is their prices and the deceptive name of their business. PATIENT BEWARE: "Urgency" does NOT refer to urgent care rates and 'costs lesser than most emergency rooms' is extremely misleading. I went in for what I thought might be a blood clot in my leg (it was a Sunday... You can't wait too long if it's actually is a blood clot ). They did an ultrasound on my leg and while I didn't end up having a blood clot, I nearly had a coronary when I got the bill. Over $1000.00 for a leg ultrasound at a facility that isn't even a hospital. The building itself looks like a generic building, similar to that of a stand-alone family practice with the vibe of a Barnes & Noble store from the outside (kind of odd). All in all, if you want to avoid major sticker shock for what is essentially a drive-thru medical clinic which supposedly has the capabilities of an actual emergency room, go to a hospital that has an urgent care- The best of both worlds (they obviously have a legit emergency room if you need it and if you don't need it, you can still utilize the urgent care). read more

Got in right away at 8 am to check for a UTI. Was back in the room at 8:03 and luckily beat the rush. After some initial workup I waited for the doc to return but it was explained he tried to see some of the other patients before circling back. Was in and out quick which was lovely. Compared to waiting 4-6 hours at an ER, $1000 bills, and ER doctors who have no time for you... This is a good option. The waiting line has always been shorter than any urgent care or ER I have been to. Typically, I see someone within 15 mins - maybe I just luck out coming at quiet moments compared to other reviews? The medical staff has always been really professional. The space is very clean and calm. The negatives: despite coming several times in the last few years - they still can't figure out my insurance. I think they did an unnecessary ultrasound when I came in a year ago just wanting a simpler test to check an alarming symptom of a chronic condition. If I could give negative stars, I would. I went in today with mild chest pain, the woman at the front desk was unfriendly to start with. After giving her my license, she loudly proclaimed that I had a balance and would not be seen unless I paid it. As I was unaware of a past due balance, I attempted to ask questions but was shot down by this rude woman who wouldn't answer them. Fine, I'll go somewhere else - I'm not going to arbitrarily pay someone $400 without knowing what it was for. To be charged $400+ for a doctor to look at me like I know nothing - (terrible bedside manner!), then have me bend over once and prescribe muscle relaxants that don't work for excruciating pain is a total rip off! The care I received was top notch and better than a hospital. Billing however was the worst. They tried to double charge me and when I caught it, it wasn't resolved for 4+ months. They kept trying to offer me a "10% discount" if I paid it in full, but I told them that this is not a negotiation, I want to pay what I'm supposed to pay. If you have any sort of heart condition problem DO NOT GO THERE! They will want to send you to an ER by ambulance after they investigate. That will be a 5000 to 7000 dollar bill which is likely your insurance will not pay. In fact the attending Doctor at the time told this to me after he saw me. I needed to see a doctor last month and it was semi-urgent. I didn't want to go to an ER but I don't have a primary care physician because I quit my job in Seattle but kept my insurance when I moved out of state and finally got a new job here but didn't have new insurance yet. I had driven by the Vadnais Heights Urgency Room a couple times so I was curious if it would work for me. The Woodbury location was easier to get to from my job so one day I checked-in online and headed over after work. Please note that the UR does NOT make appointments. You can check the average wait time online and checking-in online will speed up the registration process a little bit, but even then you may be waiting for the physician to see you for awhile. Every staff person I interacted with was extremely nice and helpful. The woman at the front desk was especially patient with my somewhat complicated medical insurance situation and explanation. And if you don't have insurance, a trip to the UR will be more affordable than a trip to the ER. Since I checked-in online I was led directly to an examination room instead of waiting in the lobby. The facilities are very clean and the equipment seems up-to-date and modern. The atmosphere is much calmer and more pleasant than an ER/hospital. The doctor that saw me was very professional and he was able to run most of my labs onsite. There was only a delay on one test result. The UR can also perform X-Rays, CT scans, and Ultrasounds. My biggest gripe with the experience was the waiting. I was there for about 2.5 hours and spent a cumulative 20 - 25 minutes with the doctor and other staff members. This wouldn't have been so bad if there were magazines or books or a TV or something mildly entertaining in the exam rooms, but they were entirely devoid of anything except medical equipment. I don't have a smart phone so I was literally just sitting there by myself with nothing to do for about two hours. I was bored and starving and tired and pretty crabby by the end. I can't imagine that a trip to the ER or anywhere else without an appointment would have gone much quicker, but at least most other places have magazines or people-watching. I also think it's worth mentioning that there were no female doctors on staff while I was there (or possibly at all at this location, though there may be female nurse practitioners). May not matter for a cough or sprain, but could matter for some lady-specific maladies, or if you're just not comfortable with a male doctor. I hope to have my very own primary care physician in the near future, but I would certainly consider going back to the UR if I needed to see a doctor at an odd time or couldn't commit to an appointment. I like their healthcare business model and hope this is the start of a growing trend. If you don't need an ambulance or an overnight stay and it's not life-threatening and you don't want to go to the ER but can't get an appointment elsewhere, I suggest you try the Urgency Room. Open 8am - 10pm, 365 days a year! But bring your own entertainment. read more

The urgency room just opened last week and I can tell you I love them. The staff is super comforting and know what they are doing. They have all the state or the art equipment and offer tea and coffee as well as wifi and tv to patients and family. They beat the price of the er and offer a deposit of 150 and payment plan option for the uninsured. The offer the speed and service of a full scale er without the wait or price or stress. I was sent to the Ur on a recommendation from Dr Vanpelt and saw Dr McClain I would recommend both. If you get sick I would recommend the urgency room to anyone anywhere in the metro, we drove from daunt Louis park to wood bury to get there and it was well worth it. I brought my father here because he fell and broke his wrist. Within 10 minutes of coming in and filling out his paperwork, we were seen been a nurse. On top of that it was within minutes of sitting down with the nurse that we got an X-ray. A splint was put on after seeing us within 30 minutes. Aside from the amazing service and turn around time, the staff here are friendly! Went here for a UTI. I knew this is what I had, but you have to go to for a urinalysis in order to get antibiotics for treatment. All the appointment entails is a sample, them to read the results and the doctor to prescribe an antibiotic. This appointment didn't take more than 15/20 minutes total (me giving the sample, them reading it and the doctor coming in and prescribing the medication) This appointment costs $406.40 (payment adjustment of $39.68 bringing it down to $366.72). I guess I can believe it with the healthcare system in the US. Charging us ridiculous amounts. When I called the billing department, they explained because of the level of care (needing labs) this is the rate they charge. If it would have been a general cold (no labs needed) there is a smaller charge for this. Ridiculous that our healthcare system takes advantage of people in need of any medical assistance. If you can wait to get in to see your GP, wait. Otherwise, you'll end up paying way to much for a simple appointment. Please spare me the standard response of being staffed with board certified emergency physicians and having equipment that far surpasses that of a regular urgent care. This would make a difference if you actually had an appointment that needed to utilize the equipment and/or emergency expertise, then it justifies the higher charge. When someone comes in for a simple appointment (which many do come in for simple appointments), they shouldn't be ridiculously overcharged. read more

All my wife needed was an ultrasound for her leg to see if there was any blood clots as requested by Summit, but yet they had to charge her a ridiculous amount ($704) for a "New Patient Office or other Outpatient Visit" in addition to the ultrasound cost. $704 is a ridiculous amount for a new patient anywhere. Terrible time getting a time to get a rapid test. For 3 days now everyone is on at midnight. I would click on the time slot that was open and it would say it was full did this for 10 minutes...I have emailed them and no response....seriously they need to do more than just a few appointments a day. It takes all of 30 seconds to swab the nasal cavity and you can text the information afterwards! I should be sleeping and trying to get better not staying up all night trying to fight for a time slot. I went in for a wrist injury on the Friday Evening before Labor Day. They got me right in, had my X rays done within the first 15 minutes, I was treated for a broken wrist and home within an hour. The staff is wonderful and the setting much better than a hospital emergency room. I hope I never need emergency services again but would most surely go back if needed.
