The best Pub in Walton. Family run by father and son Russell and Sam Bettany, the rest of the family pitches in both behind the bar and in the kitchen. It's the only Pub in Walton recommended by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), and holds a Cask Marque Award, given for Temperature, Appearance, Aroma and Taste. The Landlords at The Vic know about beer. There is always a guest ale too, so you can try something new. And of course, if you are not a beer drinker there is an excellent selection of lagers and spirits and, being The Victory, you won't go short of a fine shot of rum! The restaurant is excellent and there is nothing we could not recommend from the menu, which frequently has new additions to keep regulars a choice of something new. Chef James creates wonderful puddings and starters, and his mains include several fish choices, as well as favourites such as Barnsley Lamb Chops, Liver and Bacon served with Mustard Mash, Chicken Breast with Bacon and a Stilton Sauce and many other extremely tasty dishes. And look out for the odd Kangaroo or Camel Steak! Not just Pub Grub by any means. Music is kept down, so you can have a good natter over a few drinks, or a great meal, in a warm friendly atmosphere. Children are welcome at the times allowed by the licensing regulations. Occasional bands offer live music nights, music from 60's nostalgia to present day, as well as folk bands and dinner Jazz. There are also several excellent pub quizzes during the year. Cards, Cribbage boards and Backgammon sets are available as well as Snakes and Ladders for the young of heart! read more
