Great food and service, but prefer the sister restaurant Taste bistro next door. Probably give 3.5 stars since it was overpriced. Bread was great. We had some fennel & pear soup, smoked trout, Atlantic cod with prosciutto, sweet potato gnocchi, coffee cardamom creme caramel, bread pudding. Gnocchi and bread pudding were mediocre. The worst service and food value I have experienced in the 55 years of my existence. I understand the challenges establishment are having during this time of Covid but to take advantage of customers is just not right. An 18 dollar salad consisted of a handful of greens with inedible dressing and the fries were cold and soggy. When I asked for freshly cooked fries I was told that I must be mistaken and no other customers had complained. In addition the female manager immediately targeted me as a difficult customer and insisted I leave the establishment. Go figure I gave a 10 percent gratuity for no service, thought I was being supportive and was treated as a beggar!! Something is wrong with the mindset of this establishment. We are trying to support our local establishment and they do nothing but try to take advantage of their few customers and act as if they are doing me a favour for charging $90 for a salad( pitiful) wings and a hamburger, which we didn't even get a chance to eat as the Manager pulled it out of my hands and told me to leave for voicing a complaint. Maybe good once but clearly not worth the bother. Can get a better and more reasonable meal at the Black Bear! read more

We had a fabulous dinner here with another couple. We started off with some speciality cocktails. For appetizers, my husband and I shared shrimp cocktail (nice size) and our friends had gazpacho and smoked trout - both were excellent. Three of us got the fish special, which was a Bass, and my husband had lamb's cheek. We all finished everything and enjoyed a nice bottle of Sancerre. We managed to find room for dessert- homemade ice cream. I thought the chocolate mint ice cream was the best, but my friend preferred the coffee ice cream. This is 5 star restaurant with 5 star prices and 5 star service. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. The view was beautiful. The only issue was the a/c was not working well and it was a warm, humid night. They did bring a fan to another table for a couple, so kudos to the restaurant management for problem solving. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a 4 diamond rating meal. read more

Dinner was ok. The food was good, but the prices were kinda steep for the quality food, service and ambiance received. It's a decent date place, but not super romantic. However, it is a nice view of the lake. I would skip breakfast here if you are ordering off the menu (i.e., not the buffet). It's overpriced, and the breakfast fare is nothing spectacular (although the fresh-squeezed orange juice is very good). read more

WOW - this was incredible. Stunning food, amazing views, renovated but clearly old world luxury, and flawless staff. My wife and I visited the Adirondacks for our honeymoon and her parents recommended The View - from the homemade bread and sorbet, to the crabcakes and green wheat salad, to the entree filet with seasonal veggie medley, and a creme brulee with candied walnuts and chocolate truffles, everything was amazing! I have had top-of-the-menu steaks at a few very renowned steakhouses in NYC, and this was on par with the best and better than a few others. The wine, beer, and cocktail list is pages and pages long, and each dish comes with suggested pairings that were perfect. For a special occasion, when the price is expected to match the experience, this cannot be beat and we will look forward to visiting again! read more

Fantastic restaurant with great food fab wine list and as the name states great views of mirror lake. Had the smoked pork special with purple potatoes sourced locally. Wife had the scallops. Both were great. The crap cake and the romain salad were also first class. As to some of the bad reviews first every table looks to have a great view as all are near the large windows. Second is the servings are sized to provide for multiple courses so if you can't afford this go some place else. My only suggestion would be to not serve red wine at cellar temperature. I had a modest priced Pinot and with port and fish it was fine. If it was a expensive cab with a steak it would be a problem. Of course it was -4 outside but that should not have mattered. read more

I found the special (the scallops to be incredible) but my boyfriend was less impressed with his steak filet dish. They really made my birthday dinner special with a photo of us printed out and given to us at the end of the meal. The service was great with the exception that our drinks took forever. read more

I don't understand why this place is rated so low. My husband and I just had dinner here. The food was excellent. So was the service. We ordered the potato and leek soup and I got the smoked trout and my husband got the chicken breast. Both were excellent. I would only recommend them to increase the side orders. This nouvelle cuisine just lets you taste what you should be eating. Deserts were excellent. We even got chocolates to finish. read more

We stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn years ago and we weren't thrilled with the experience so we've been staying at the Whiteface instead. When the Whiteface was booked for New Year's Day, we decided to try the Inn again. I'm so glad we did!! It was a great experience. We stayed in a suite because we have a 2 year old but before we even checked in they showed us another suite that was also available and that was incredible! It had stairs though so we opted for our original choice. It was super private, enormous and the bathroom was the biggest hotel bathroom I've ever seen! Our son loved the tub! It faced the lake and was two large rooms with a wall so the seating area was separate than the sleeping area. We only ate at the cottage which was okay and then went around the lake sledding etc. My only complaint was none of the restaurants were open during the day except for the cottage place which was jammed packed on a wait and because it was cold it's hard to wait with a two year old for an hour. But they had an outdoor fire pit which was fun. I even got a spa treatment because the pool was so nice baby was happy swimming with daddy for awhile. indoor pool was phenomenal and super kid friendly. read more

we stayed at the inn for a few days. The pancakes were hands down the best I ever had. They were lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside! My husband and I thought they were wonderful. We went to dinner as well. It was good with a wonderful view and great warm staff! read more

(i was apprehensive at first b/c there was a weird odor at the hotel entrance (detergent + fishy... yuck)), but inside the restaurant and the meal were perfect. This restaurant is amazing! Truly amazing. My boyfriend and I booked a reservation and when we arrived, we were immediately greeted by a super nice host who during our conversation gave us suggestions on the best days to ski during our stay! Then our server, Tess, was super pleasant and attentive. We never felt rushed and everything was brought out in perfectly timed intervals. First the bread, it was delicious. We were given three types (french baguette, rosemary bread, and whole wheat) served with butter on the side. Next we were given a tiny appetizer compliments of the chef! It was a piece of salmon with some other delicious items on it that i cant remember right now. It was the first time i ever tried salmon, and i have to say, it was very good! My boyfriend and I both had salads and they were great, but the main course is what completely takes the cake! Both of us got the beef filet and it had to be one of the best filet mignons I have had. It was served with a potato parve, baby veggies,and cipollini onions and it was all soooo goood! We also had icecream and sorbet for dessert, also delicious! Basically come to this restaurant to have amazingly delicious food and have great service from the super friendly staff! Highly recommend!!!! Can't wait to go back!!! read more

My girlfriend and I stayed at Mirror Lake Inn in July. We had reservations in The View 2 nights: July 18th and July 20th. This is the inn's four diamond restaurant. My girlfriend made the reservations in April and stated I don't eat pepper. We never received a call regarding the diet restriction and when we checked into the inn on July 17th nothing was said. We had 8:00 PM reservations on July 18th. When we ordered our server told us only proteins (meat, fish) were guaranteed to have no pepper. Any side dish is seasoned and potentially has pepper. The meal started with a complimentary dish of orange, fig and goat cheese. I don't eat goat cheese and asked for an alternative with cheddar cheese. Our server told me the chef was afraid to send anything out because I wasn't pleased with anything. (The previous night we ate in the bar and vegetables with pot roast were very hard. The matter was resolved when they substituted mashed potatoes with gravy.). There are kids on Chopped that accept cooking challenges better than their French trained chef! We both ordered romaine salads which we enjoyed. I ordered prime beef filet (medium) with steamed vegetables. I do not eat certain vegetables and my only choices were carrots, green beans and roasted potatoes. My girlfriend ordered gnocchi and mixed vegetables which she enjoyed. My filet was rare (bloody) and the vegetables were once again hard. I was so disgusted I just ate my food. I told the server and the restaurant supervisor Justin came to our table. I told him about the undercooked vegetables and also pointed out black dirt on the side of the tablecloth. He was not receptive to these issues and said it was the pepper issue that caused the problem. I told him the restaurant could have called since reservations were made 3 months earlier. He did not agree and said that the alternative of steamed vegetables was sufficient. We cancelled our reservation for July 20th and left. This is not a four diamond restaurant. There is a dress code but I saw people with tee shirts and flip flops.The food was not properly prepared and there was dirt on the tablecloth. Furthermore the management has no desire to make corrections or improvements. And again, the owner and managers will respond with "Don't come back. You're not welcome here". read more
