I was a frequent flyer at Ladera. Loved the indoor/outdoor atmosphere and creative offerings. Surprisingly, I've never been to a Vig before. I came for dinner. Ordered 4 chicken tacos. To be honest, nothing extraordinary. The tacos were definitely on the more conservative side (could have eaten 4 more). My group of 5 thought their food was OK as well. First of all I never write bad reviews. We live in "the hood and just wanted to grab a Sunday dinner bite close by. First of all the Cook needs to own a salt shaker. Except the black beans everything was grossly underseasoned. It's such a beautiful restaurant. We sat at the bar with maybe 20 people in the entire restaurant and the bartender acted like we were bothering her most of the evening. We ordered chips, salsa and guacamole. We were informed that they were out of salsa. Not sure how that happens but OK. We got case of instead. Both dishes would've been great with a little bit of seasoning. The guacamole was so onion for you could hardly handle it and again lack salt and the queso was curdled and also lack salt. We decided to split the black and fish tacos, and the only thing seasoned on our plate was the black beans. Because we didn't enjoy the two dips that came with our chips. We decided to order a second side of black beans because they were delicious. This place is located on the East side of Central Ave, across from Sunnyslope HS south of Dunlap. The service here was excellent. I was there to get together with a bunch of old friends and some families. We were in the outdoor area straight in from the entrance. We tried out a lot of different things and several drinks. The quality of the food was fine but we were there more to hang out. There was no pressure to order or rush. The amazing thing was there were 20-30 people but somehow they kept tabs for everyone. I have no idea how they did that but they never asked about a combined bill or separate. Overall nice venue to hang out and great time. The parking situation is a little strange when you first pull up but there is a private lot up the road just like for the signs pointing you in the right direction. I've been to this location a couple of times and have had great service every time. They have a decent happy hour menu .. nachos, sliders, lots of mixed drinks, etc Their street tacos are delicious and I highly recommend them, they are surprisingly filling and the flavors are spot on. Today I had the cheeseburger.. it was huge and cooked to medium as ordered, it was delicious and juicy, even the sliced tomatoes were tasty, it was messy in a good way. I paired it with the coconut cherry daily mule .. a pretty pink cocktail with a cherry on top. Yum! Service at the bar is always pleasant.. Ryan takes good care of the bar area, makes sure your water and cocktails are never empty. They have a beautiful outdoor patio with a wood burning fireplace. With a reservation at 7 pm it still took a few minutes to seat us. While we were waiting, we saw a table get up and leave without getting served, so I was a little worried about what our experience would be. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes for our server to take our drink order. Our server was friendly and helpful. Our drinks arrived in a timely manner. After our drinks arrived we probably waited 20 minutes before she took our food order ( after we indicated we were ready to order). Once again the food arrived in a timely manner. I enjoyed the fish and chips with sweet potato fries. Hot and yummy! Two people in our party ordered the Mac and Cheese - one with chicken and one without to positive reviews. The fourth member of our group ordered the pork tacos which were enjoyed, and finally the fifth member of our party go the Poblano Chicken Enchiladas to rave reviews. Our server was attentive without being overly intrusive. I found the table on the dark side with only one center light to give light to the booth which made reading the menu difficult. Really nice atmosphere at this restaurant. Outdoor area is adorable and also dog friendly. The menu includes an unusual array of items that are presented in a unique way and they have a happy hour that includes some very cute cocktails. Our only issue was with the service, which was disappointing. We were a party of four, and got only drinks and entrees. My spouse asked three times for extra condiments before they were provided. My niece had a beautiful salad plus a side of sweet potato fries that never showed up even though we asked about them multiple times. We finally had them taken off the bill. We tipped well despite the problems but $175 was steep for four of us with the issues added in. Regardless, I think I would try them for brunch. A local friend took me to Vig for dinner. She lived in the area and had never tried to spot. Upon arriving, it was very welcoming and well designed. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside. We did not have a reservation and they were able to seat up immediately. We chose to sit at the bar. The bartenders were so friendly and attentive to our needs. We ended up ordering the Coug Cup and Bennet and Bubbles. Both were nice drinks and not very sweet. We started with the Poke appetizer and Pomegrante Salad with Prawns. The salad and portion size was perfect. Everything was fresh and delivered quickly. This place was cute and I loved the ambiance and lighting. read more

Visiting friends while on the road and they picked this restaurant from experience with sister restaurants. Dined here for opening week (first Friday open) and was very impressed with the organization and presentation of their meals as well as the service. Have to give a shout out to our server who was on her 3rd day and knew her drinks and dishes! thank you Lexie! Ambiance pleasant, not too loud but buzzing! Great options for seating: bar with sports on but dividing wall keeps that vibe separate from the main dining area which is rustic and beautiful. Outdoor fireplace and greenery with beautiful lighting for an open air experience. Food I can't put my finger on the food style but it felt like American with a twist of Tex-Mex. Only downfall was that we wanted the shrimp enchiladas and they were out of them :( maybe next time? We had the calamari (crunchy), the guacamole and salsa as starters (not bad) and for mains: roasted chicken, steak, roasted pork tacos and salmon. All of the dishes were beautifully presented and tasty. My only recommendation would be to send out earlier to ensure the food is hot especially in an open air space where food gets cold quickly. Soo yummy! Kind of tucked away. Parking is horrendous but we found a lot not too far from the restaurant. Vibes are immaculate. So vibrant and fun and the food is up to par. Onion rings and thin and crispy and soo good. Their bbq ranch is delish. The menu has something for everyone. One word.Pozole! It didn't matter that it was 108 degrees outside, I decided to try the pozole based on a recommendation from a friend and the waiter. This stuff is so good it haunts my dreams now. The menu is eclectic and there's no reason why this soup should be as good as it is without it being a specialty restaurant. THE FOOD! We got the bruschetta and fried cauliflower for apps. Amazing! The Mott on the bruschetta was the freshest I've had on this side of the map! The fried cauliflower with the secret sauce was great. Chef would not release the secret sauce ingredients. We tried! Followed by a pastrami Rueben (my safe food) and a plain gourmet cheeseburger. Both were basic menu items, but they dressed them up well AND most importantly they were made to perfection!!! Hot, proportional and flavorful! Burger was medium rare (As it should be!). Pastrami was hot, spiced great and melty cheese. Ordered two alcoholic beverages. Spiced pear drink and a Strawberry fields. I RECOMMEND BOTH! Love this new location! The bar is really nice and open. The patio looked really cozy and romantic. The general seating area had lots of ambient lighting and comfy seating. I had the three pork tacos and arugula salad, my date ordered the genuine cheeseburger, and we started off with the seared tuna. I also ordered the clairvoyant to drink. The seared tuna was delicious. The tacos were meh. My date ordered a "very well done" hamburger (?!?!) so I'm sure it was incredibly meh. The arugula salad was meh. And my date was meh. Clairvoyant was good though! I'd be interested in trying out more of their drinks, but I'm good on their food. Maybe I'd order some French fries or the tuna to munch on, but I wouldn't come here for dinner... Also, the location of the parking lot in relation to the restaurant is a little odd. Love this location! Came here because I wanted to simply try a different location of The Vig, and this one emerges as a top spot! The parking situation is a little weird, but overall, this is a wonderful addition to The Vig network. The patio is quaint and intimate. It's a little different from some of the locations because you stumble upon it as you enter. The interior is smaller than others but has a cozy, romantic feel. It almost feels like you are going into a log cabin at a ski resort or something. I sat at the bar, and I'm glad that I did. Great vibe with stellar service. They have Fiji sparkling water (who else loves sparkling water?!) which perfectly chilled. I kid you not, but the Shishito peppers were served better here. Spicy as fire, crisp, and perfectly seasoned. I nearly ate the entire (very large!) portion. I also ordered the Wagyu cheeseburger. Wow, this was succulent. I'd seen someone order one of these, and I suspected they were as good as they looked, and they exceeded expectations. I opted for the sweet potato fries, which were the perfect accompaniment. Although simple, this was one of the best meals I've had at any Vig location. The kitchen is killing it! An extraordinary experience that you must try. read more

This is a tough one, 2 stars too low but I feel 3 is too much. The variety here is quite limited since they are the same for all their locations, so i feel it's understandable being so limited. Let's start with our cocktails we ordered before appetizers. Worst margarita I have ever had. No exaggeration. Didn't have the peach syrup in it like advertised, small glass filled with large chunks and crushed ice, so left enough room for about 2 jiggers total mix and tequila. I like spice, very spicy in-fact, but thats all this was chili tequila and a splash of mix. 22 min to get it from the bartender as well. My sisters Manhattan was so sweet and the consistency of a thin syrup. Appetizers- spicy aioli cauliflower- bland as can be, no flavor. The chicken on the menu wasn't available at 3:30 pm ? The place was slightly busy maybe 20 people total but the wait for service, food, cocktails was unacceptable. Showed up on Saturday night. I'm by myself so made my way to the bar. Took several minutes to even be acknowledged. Ordered a Manhattan. If was quite good. The Bartender did give ne the food menu. Nothing. I mean nothing jumped out. I knew I was hungry.. but I wasn't feeling anything. Couple next to me at the bar ordered food...it took a very long time. Went to The Vig on North Central for Easter. We had been so excited to try it, as we live in the hood, loved laderra and have enjoyed the other Vig locations. We made reservations, and the hostess did a GREAT job of accommodating our party. We originally got seated by the fire place which is beautiful but very inconvenient to eat especially with a party of 7. Our party started with the cinnamon roll and onion rings. They came out and were so awesome! The brunch drinks we ordered came out tasty, and the coffee was tasty. We ordered off the brunch menu. The chilaquiles were tasty, the French toast was enjoyed by the little ones, and I believe my mom enjoyed her hash. They forgot our side of eggs for the baby, happens. We ordered two steak and eggs. One came out perfect, the other the steak was cold and missing the bread (not a big deal at all). Stupidly I said something about the ice cold steak, was a bad decision. They took my plate and then came back and it had been COVERED in a bunch of melted butter or some other greasy sauce. They covered my potatoes and my plate was swimming in it. The other steak and eggs didn't look anything like my plate. I wasn't able to finish my meal and am feeling nauseous after. Was super disappointed to say the least especially for a holiday experience with the family. Don't get me wrong, the staff was very friendly, the rest of the food and beverages were awesome, and I made the mistake of complaining about my ice cold food and got the wrath of the kitchen haha but, for $26 figured it wasn't too much to be at least warm. Seems weird to be under staffed on a Friday night, but maybe it's hard to keep good employees. The food was good, we got the pretzel, buffalo cauliflower, and charcuterie board. The cauliflower was so good! Perfectly crispy and the sauce was not too spicy. All our food was exceptional and the portions were a decent size. The only thing I didn't love was the bread pudding. On our recent Sunday morning visit, It seemed like they were very short staffed and it took a long time to give our food order. One of our party came late and the server was slow to circle back and get her drink order. The food was also very mediocre. We started with Bloody Marys that had so much salt and pepper they were virtually undrinkable. Three of us had the classic breakfast and the potatoes were over salted and the bacon was pretty ho hum.
