I am the fussiest drinker (alcoholic and otherwise) you will ever meet. I can't stand beer, wine and fizz of any kind, so when I do feel like enjoying a night I'm likely to forget, I'm left with cocktails or mixed drinks with juice. For most people, a trip to the bottle-o is cheaper than a night out drinking, but for me it's usually the opposite. There's been more than one occasion where I've been forced to buy a huge bottle of Smirnoff or Baileys, even though there's no way I'll ever drink it all in one sitting.
When I was younger a friend and I found a great way around this problem; some bottle shops have a range of cheap, fruit flavoured liquors that taste surprisingly delicious and manage to get us wobbly. What I have discovered since then is that very few bottle shops actually stock my fruit flavoured friends, so I was very pleased when I ran into this store to avoid the rain pouring down outside and discovered a whole shelf of them. As I gazed lovingly at the line of girly coloured bottles, the friendly man who was working came over to inform me that he was about to do a taste test of these very products.
While my delicious strawberries & cream flavoured drink slowly warmed me up, I strolled around the shop. I am no expert in wine but I can count, and there was a lot here, ranging in price (and I suppose that means quality) from less than $10 to well, a lot more. It wasn't a big store but there was certainly a lot in there and the service was great. read more
