I have a foursome that travels to Florida, California, Michigan and etc., playing golf. We decided to expire and Stay and play in Ohio during Father's Day weekend, Saturday we played Cumberland Trails, had a great time, Sunday we played The Virtues Golf Club, Started out we were disappointed, Their were no directions or signs to the first tee, no started. We got a lecture about reporting to the 1st hole late. We explained that this is our first time here and no one was available to provide us directions. I have to say the course layout is beautiful but definitely not set up for convenience. I walked more with a cart then I would've played 18 holes walking at Raymond's GC. During our round we had a group 3 holes behind us and a group 2 holes ahead of us and we were playing pretty quick, even with all the walking. Out of no where at the 8th hole a Ranger confronted our group saying that we need to pick it up, and he stay larking around watching us like we were on the clock, obviously that pissed off the group and created a irritation round of golf. A few of the guys were thinking about quitting after the 1st 9 holes. I've played my share of Country Courses and for $140.00/round the customer service and experience was horrible. The carts were junk, feeling like it was going to die. It's safe to say that we will never play The Virtues Golf Club again. I giving 2 stars because the layout was beautiful, which I can see in a magazine. read more

I thought the course was nice. Certainly an excellent design but it is getting tired and in need of some help. Still really good but not excellent as it once was. The Clubhouse is another story. An outside staircase was closed, supposedly for repairs, the inside was just tired. Food was OK, Pro Shop didn't have much if anything worth the investment. Even the parking lot is in need of some attention. I suspect the place doesn't generate nearly enough revenue on its own to invest in much beyond very basic labor and maintenance and it shows. Hopefully better days ahead. read more

You are greeted by a friendly staff at bag drop, the pro shop, the starter, the halfway house, and player assistants when you finish. What was once one of the best public golf courses in Ohio and the entire country, is now just a reminder of what is was (and what it could be). It is the clear that the owners have stopped investing any money in the golf course. Given that they charge $120/round, I expect more. Whatever cashflow they are generating from greens fees must be going straight in their pockets. Almost everything about the place - the golf course, clubhouse, range, pro shop, etc. is going downhill...fast. It appears that almost nothing cosmetically has been worked on for some time. The place is now 25 years old and it is showing its age. On the course, the cart paths are in bad shape and the restrooms and bridges are decaying. They course layout is outstanding, so long as you like a course that will beat you up a little bit. If you hit a poor shot, you will be penalized (nothing wrong with that). The views are spectacular. The playing conditions are just average. Here's how I'd rate the course: greens - 7, fairways - 6, tees - 6, rough - 5, traps - 2. I was surprised at how soft the greens were and the traps were all but neglected. Their onsite 'cabins', or whatever they call them, look like government housing units. I didn't see them on the inside but the exterior looks rough. The service in the pro shop, bev cart, halfway house and restaurant was pretty good. The people were nice and the food was above average. Side note: there is almost nothing worth purchasing in the pro shop. Of 6 of us on this trip, one guy bought one hat. The logo and font on their gear makes you not want to wear any of it - it's so bad. Lastly, pace of play was 4:45, so pack a sandwich its a long round of golf. I wish I had a spare $10M lying around, it would be nice to show this formally outstanding course the love it deserves. read more

Course was in excellent shape and surprisingly not busy for a Saturday. We teed off when group ahead was off first green. Never waited on a shot and never had anyone behind us waiting. Ranger gave my 2 senior partners a handicap sticker to facilitate their round very much appreciated. read more

I play a lot of golf and during a visit to central Ohio played Virtues with my wife. Course condition and layout were great, but I will not be back and cannot recommend. My wife and I are both very quick and efficient club golfers who are use to walking rounds of three hour or less. On the day we played Virtues, 6/19/2022, we were paired with two other females golfers. These two ladies, as we quickly found, were also very good golfers who played briskly and efficiently. On the first tee our foursome gets a lecture about pace of play from the starter. I'm thinking good, maybe the pace will be decent. Both me and the ladies who joined us told the starter don't worry about us, we'll be right on the group in front us....starter then gives us a "smirk" look. The starter attaches some sort of tracking device to the two ladies' cart with another warning of if turns red we'll be out to see you. Again I'm thinking they will monitoring pace of play and maybe we can do this in four hours. Forty-five minutes into play we finally get to the third tee. For the first two holes we watched the group in front with no direction or sense knock balls into woods continuously after numerous practice stokes. None of the four are ever ready to play when it is their turn.....painful to watch. No ranger or marshal is seen until we are playing hole nine. We have waited for extended periods on all first eight holes watching the antics of the group in front of us. We are now 2.5 hours into the round and I see the ranger approach the two ladies with whom we are playing and confront them about slow play. The ladies are not taking it from the ranger, and they let him know very directly our foursome is not the problem. They clearly tell him where the problem is. Ranger confronted our group right away when it was so very apparent where the problem was, he had not bothered to see the wide open course in front of the group immediately in front of us. Also, it is later admitted by the ranger we are the only group with the tracker and when it was flashing red they assumed we were the culprits of slow play. The three ladies in my foursome were only females I observed on the course the day I played. Don't how it is in Ohio, but profiling women as slow players is not a good practice where I live. Some the best most efficient players I know are women. The ranger did eventually return back to us and make amends for the accusations to our group, but pace of play was still slow due to the troublesome foursome in front of us. Finished the very irritating round in five hours. Irritating due to pace of play and wrongly putting the blame on our group.....wrecked what we were hoping to be an enjoyable round of golf. Again, nice course, won't be back. Your staff needs to be sure who they are accusing. The two ladies we played with told me the are done with Virtues also after years of routinely playing your course. read more

Decided to make the trip to play the Virtues Golf Course in July 2021. The course does not deserve the #1 ranking for the top public course in the state of Ohio by Golf Advisor or Golf Digest. From entering the property, you can see the property has come under disrepair. The landscaping is overgrown and the parking lot and clubhouse is in rough shape. The pro shop is a hodgepodge of unorganized items and displays. Definitely does not have the appearance of a top course. Do not play this course if the course is cart path only. I played on a day when it was cart path only. There was no need for cart path only. The course was dry but the path rule was still in effect. Rain was in the forecast but had not rained yet. All cart paths are 40-50 yards away from greens and fairways. It slows down play significantly when you have all golfers on cart path only. The course cart paths need repaved. They are riddled with pot holes and need attending by the staff. There are numerous bunkers on this course that add to the appeal and course setup. They are placed in challenging locations off the tee and near greens that make the course setup appealing for golfers of all skill levels. The issue is the bunkers are in disrepair. Every bunker was washed out and look like it hadn't been maintained in some time. There is no way that any grounds grew had attended to the bunkers in some time as weeds were growing in most bunkers. Every bunker, including green side bunkers, were all hard pan from washout and poor drainage. The course setup and appeal was nice. It had generous fairways and very picturesque hole layouts. Great for all skill levels and ability. The green rolled true and fast, which was nice to see from a public facility. You can see that at one point in time the course was a true gem. No longer the case. At the end of your round, instead of being able to take your clubs to your car with your golf cart, you were left to return your cart behind the clubhouse and carry everything back to your car because there is a strict no carts in parking lot rule. Arrived today (10/24/23) and our group was excited to play. Two guys greeted us and were very nice. We got a short lecture at the first tee about 90 degree rule and keeping pace of play. We got to the fourth hole and there were two groups on the tee ahead of us! (One just leaving, and the other was the group ahead of us.) Pace of play here was ridiculous! We called the clubhouse on the 5th tee and asked them to send out a ranger to help speed up play. The clubhouse told us there were two rangers working the back nine to speed up play and they would later work their way around to the front nine. On the 7th hole, the ranger stopped by our cart and asked me if I was handicapped. I said "no", and he told me to get the cart back on the cart path. I was literally 1 foot off the path, in the grass. He was very rude and a bit of a smart-ass. We waited EVERY HOLE for the group in front of us, who were also waiting on the group in front of them. Our tee time was 1:30, and we finished at 6:40pm. The group behind me couldn't even finish because of darkness. The kid cleaning our clubs back as the clubhouse said their were 5 more foursomes behind us. I'm sure none of them were able to finish. Scenery was beautiful and the course was in good shape, but after a 5 hour and 10 minute round, on a Tuesday afternoon, all four of us decided we were not going back to Virtues again. read more

A hidden gem in a peaceful environment. The food is amazing with homemade chips and noodles. There are two parts to the restaurant. There is a bar area with sports or whatever on TV and then the actual restaurant area with a fireplace and a wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course and outdoor patio area. Usually not busy and the staff is very friendly. read more

Opened in 1999 and designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, the course is defined by panoramic natural beauty, rolling hills and immaculate playing conditions with large fast undulating greens. The course has earned it's ranking as the 56th in the U.S. (out of roughly 13,500 public access courses) in 2010 GOLF Magazine's "Top 100 Courses You Can Play" list. I did two night and three plays in a "stay and play". Five set of tees, at 7,243, 6,856, 6498, 6,075 and 4,985-yards. Among the most dramatic holes on Longaberger's parkland-style layout is the par-5, No. 4 that plays 565 yards from the back tees with a 150-foot elevation drop from tee to green. Good service, attentive pro and starter rangers on both the front and back nine, I would come back for the golf challenge and the quality attentive service. read more

While Longaberger may have been a five-star golf course at some point in the past, it certainly is not as of 8/17/14. The layout is great and the course has the potential to be set up to be quite spectacular, but it simply comes up short. While I could list things like the run down man made waterfall on the par-3 that could be a signature-type hole but instead is overgrown and unappealing to the eye or how the employees seem to think the course is in great shape, the simple fact of the matter is that the greens at Longaberger are awful. Some of the worst I've played in my 32 rounds around Central Ohio this season. The greens are the most important aspect of the course. People will pay extreme amounts of money to play courses that have great greens no matter the condition of the rest of the course (although we'd prefer to play a course that is in great shape all around!) Longaberger thinking that it's greens are commensurate with $150, $100 or even $50 per round is laughable. I hope that the powers at Longaberger take a good, honest look at their greens and that they make the necessary investment into fixing the greens. That is the first step in restoring what could be a top course in the country but is currently falling well short of its potential. read more

We had dinner in the restaurant on Sunday night. The food and wait staff was unbelievable. The view makes it even better. This placed should be packed every night for dinner. I had the bbq rib special. $14.95. It was enough to feed a family. The meat fell off of the bones. Great potatoes too! This is my new favorite place. I will be there often. read more

Very challenging course. The layout and clubhouse are spectacular. I played 36 holes on a Tuesday and it cost $115. Everything about this course was upscale. My only gripe was you need more cart girls around offering beverages. We saw them on hole 3 and never saw them again for the rest of the round. It was very hot and humid. We recently ventured out to play Longaberger Golf Club and arrived in time to try the Sunday Brunch. It was very enjoyable all around. Chef Jeremy even came out to introduce himself to us and see how our dining experience was going. The made to order omelette station was exceptional with many fresh ingredients to choose from. A very friendly gal named Kim cooked my omelette exactly how I requested it. There were an assortment of other hot and cold dishes. A definite stand out was the smoked salmon. I recommend you give it a try before tackling the course. read more

This course is a must for the avid golfer looking for a challenging round of golf. In my opinion this is one of the best courses in the central Ohio area. The greens are very challenging and are well cared for. The fairways are in tip top shape for how dry it is this year. How the hell do they keep it so nice! I thought the most interesting thing I noticed today was I did not see one lawn mower for the whole round of golf. Everyone from start to finish was very friendly and helpful. If you haven't been to this course your missing out. Going to a nice course comes with a price, so try to take advantage of the specials. read more

We had a great day at Longaberger GC yesterday. The staff was great and is customer focused. While it was busy, the pace of play was good. The back 9 holes were slower than the front as a few early golfers seemed to play slower, but overall most players kept pace and it was very enjoyable. It is a very challenging course and based on the players lack of replacing divots and repairing ball marks, you could see that the course maintenance staff were working hard to maintain the fairways and greens. The green speeds were great and setup for competitive play. My suggestion is to hit it straight onto the fairways and land on the green softly to get a good score. The course is marked with yardage just be aware that it is on the sprinkler heads or in fairway at 100,150,200, etc. It is the best public course that we have played in Ohio and on par with Sawgrass or TPC Las Vegas - it is just more reasonable and maybe bargain based on quality. Wished we live nearby - it would be my course of choice. read more

The Longaberger Golf Club is a must. We love going there for lunch and brunch. The food is very good. The setting is idyllic.

Nice place. I usually walk when I golf so I definitely would have preferred more shade - especially as hot as it was.

For all the reputation this course had, I found the entire experience not worth a positive review. We booked months out for golf during a visit to Columbus for a wedding. The greens were mediocre, the sand traps were hard and not playable as sand should play. Moreover, there was a ranger by the name of Ron who was argumentative and downright rude when we spoke up about the slow play. Oh yes, the clubhouse is in need of major up grade from the carpeting, the cracks in the terrace and attention to dirty restrooms. read more

This used to be one of our favorite courses to play and since it is around a 5 hour drive from home we usually made a day of it and played 36 holes. In the past this place was wonderful and well maintained but things have changed, and not for the better. The layout is wonderful and the course is challenging, but the condition of this place has deteriorated a lot from a few years ago. We would love to play it again but the condition of the course the last time was well below par and not worth a 5 hour drive anymore. Played this course with my wife a few days ago while visiting my daughter in Columbus. So worth the 50-60 minute drive from Columbus. We booked online (their site) for a Tuesday and received a $59 rate. What a steal! This course is esthetically one of the most beautiful I've played anywhere in the country. Is it "too hard" for some golfers? I would suggest you go and find out. We have gorgeous courses in Wisconsin but this one makes me jealous. Complaints..my skydroid app didn't have this course listed and the markers (laying flat in ground for 100,150, etc) were hard to see. That was my only complaint. Loved this course. read more
